Review Summary

Overall, reviews characterize Le St-Urbain as a delicious, thoughtfully executed restaurant with a warm, vibrant atmosphere and a strong wine list; the menu shifts with the seasons and many dishes are described as original and delectable, with bread and salted butter noted as a standout, and the service described as attentive and friendly by a hardworking team that can accommodate dietary needs and even add celebratory touches like a dessert candle. Some guests mention small portions for the price, occasional service snags such as a rude response from staff, and a chilly dining room on a cold night, but these points are usually outweighed by the overall quality, atmosphere, and value, making Le St-Urbain a frequent pick for celebrations, date nights, and regular visits.

Lovely small restaurant. Artic char as an appetizer was divine. Halibut with asparagus was delicious.
Restaurant is loud & space is tight. Definitely reserve before going there.
Server was nice... But she did not fit the vibe of the place which was the only downside I could see.

We came here on a Thursday night. It was pleasantly busy.
The menu is written on a chalkboard. We decided to share the plates.
Everything was delicious & original.
We ordered six oysters. I could have had twelve to myself. Both the oysters & the toppings were amazing.
We enjoyed the vegetarian eggplant dish & the crevettes de Matane as appetizers.
For the mains we had the mushroom raviolis (vegetarian) & the scallops. Out of this world.
They make their own bread & they serve it an amazing salted butter.
They even have each of us a loaf of bread to take home.
The spicy margarita was the best we have ever tasted. We taste them everywhere we go. The photo is of the Aperol Spritz which was very good.
For dessert we had their version of doughnuts with a delicious dipping sauce. Highly recommended.
The Waitress was exceptional. Unfortunately I did not catch her name.
Good value for the price.
Easy street parking.
Nice terrace.

It had been at least a decade I had not eaten at Le St Urbain. My memories were all positive from that last meal. I arrived with a friend for lunch & was a little surprised to see a rather empty room. I go to restaurants for the food & the experience. First things first is make your clients comfortable. On this mild autumn day I was surprised that the room was uncomfortably cool. For appetizers we chose from the board a beet salad with fennel & pecans. fresh & delicious while I ordered sea urchins. My experience with sea urchins is almost entirely related to sushi. The strong flavours generally are avoided by some while their texture excludes many more. I on teh other hand welcome both in this case they were served on a bed of ice along with the urchin casing. The chilled shells may have had an effect on the dish. I can't recall the other ingredients however the particular taste of urchin was so mild you could make a case for a complete absence. For mains we both had the scallops which were a treasure. The scallops were beautifully browned to one side while the other was still moist & tender. To add to this the sauce which had a kick to it was a good foil to the sweetness of the scallops. We ended the meal with a sherbet that was quite tasty.

Great local French Bistro, elevated tastes for a reasonable price. The meals where very well paired in flavours. Large wine selection as well. Service was good but they appeared a little understaffed with servers, but those there hustled & were friendly getting the food out. $190 + tip with bottle of French wine , a craft beer, 1 appetizer, 2 mains, 2 desserts.
