Review Summary

Le Roi Du Smoked Meat is described as a classic retro Montreal deli on St. Hubert, prized for its legendary smoked meat which many reviewers say is tender, flavorful, and served on fresh rye with generous portions. The place feels like a warm, family oriented diner with friendly service, though some notes mention cramped booths, decor in need of refresh, and occasional concerns about cleanliness. Reviews are a mix on value and portions, with the meat widely lauded but some diners finding sides or prices less satisfying and a few meals not hitting the mark. The menu has expanded beyond the traditional sandwich to include items like poutine, clubs, and even smoked meat pizza, yielding a range of experiences from excellent to mediocre. A few readers report inconsistent service or changes in the menu that affected their expectations, yet the overall impression remains that this is a nostalgic Montreal staple with a strong smoke meat identity. Many describe the atmosphere as charmingly old school, making it a go-to for lovers of classic Montreal deli flavors despite some ups and downs.

*** DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE ***

I've been ordering from this restaurant for over 2 years, & over night their menu prices increased by $2.00 on all their major foods!!

How can one justify an over night increase of such prices!!!!

A large regular poutine was $8.95 & now its $10.95.

Its a poutine!!! Fries, cheese, & sause!! How can one justify this price!!!

Like I said, this happened on ALL their major foods...you are being taken STRAIGHT to the BANK!!!

I noticed this in June 2013!!!

A $2.00 increase on almost EVERYTHING....they are taking you to the cleaners, & LAUGHING at you!!
