I arrived in Montreal for the weekend with my son & a friend of his for the weekend, & we started walking down Rue St Denis to find some dinner. In late August, the evening air was perfect patio weather, & that was my look for. We chanced upon Le Psy, not truly knowing what we were walking into. I am so glad we did.

I was instantly greeted by JeanYves, & my party sat outside. The QR for the menu was readily available, & my limited French was put to the test. There were some words I recognized from my school days (ok, mainly'fromage'), but Jean Yves was ready to ask us questions to find out what would fit our palette for the night. We settled on two large grilled cheese with a charcuterie board, which shortly came with a lovely selection of find meats & cheeses selected by Jean Yves. The board was filled out with some old mustard (it's meant to be old…not old in a bad way 😉), pickles, olives, & what I described to my son as'Thanksgiving in a jar', a spread that as I recall consisted of duck & duck fat, & was delicious!

Over the next hour & a bit, we sat, ate, & were thrilled with the experience that none of us sought out, but Jean Yves, through a love of his craft, delicately & warmly reeled us into.

Could we have gone elsewhere & got a cheap meal? Absolutely. But we would have missed out on this wonderful experience with some bold new flavours & ones that embraced out taste buds like old friends.

Take some time to experience Le Psy. You won't be upset that you did.

A very cool vibe for an evening drink & bite to eat. The owner was kind enough to surprise us with three different kids of cheeses that were local & absolutely incredible. Highly recommend!!

Nous avons été hier soir pour une soirée entre copines au Psy bar & qu'elle découverte ! Des grill cheese à tomber, Maud une serveuse adorable & très serviable avec une ambiance vraiment chaleureuse !
Je recommande sans hésiter !
On se retrouve bientôt pour tester le reste de la carte !😋🍷🧀

Strange experience here... We were here early on a Saturday, around 5:30... Ordered the French onion soup (which is already premade in a big soup tureen - just needs to be poured into the bowl & cheese added on top), as well as the flight of three small grilled cheese sandwiches. It took us almost an hour to get our food, but there were only three couples in the restaurant & three employees... Prices for the mini grilled cheeses are also very high for the size of them (size of a baguette slice). Maybe their cheese platters are a better deal, but for what we ordered, it was quite disappointing

J'avais envie d'essayer cet endroit depuis longtemps, parce que c'est le seul bars à vin d'importation privée & fromages à Montréal, & je n'ai vraiment pas été déçue.

J'apprécie énormément le fait que ce soit une place décontractée, sans prétention, mais avec une vraie expertise. Il y a beaucoup de choix de vin au verre, un avantage incontournable.

J'ai eu la chance d'être servie au bar par le propriétaire, ce qui a rendu l'expérience encore plus agréable. J'en ai profité pour lui laisser carte blanche pour les fromages, & tout était parfait.

J'ai pris les mini grilled cheese: Les portions sont d'environ 2 à 4 bouchées chacune, & le ratio pain/fromage est vraiment parfait : on goûte très bien chaque fromage, sans que le pain prenne toute la place. J'ai vraiment été servie par la variété, & tout était excellent.

Côté vin: Gros coup de coeur pour le Muscadet 1ère Escale dans le blanc en apéro & le Chianti Classico dans les rouges. Le Chianti accompagnait parfaitement les fromages chauds dans les grilled cheese, c'était un excellent accord.

Le service a été rapide, impeccable & vraiment humain; l'endroit est chaleureux & intime.

J'ai adoré du début à la fin. Gros coup de coeur, c'est certain que je vais revenir. C'est vraiment un incontournable pour une soirée tranquille, conviviale, sans prétention, mais avec des produits de grande qualité.

My mom & I visited tonight & we had the most incredible time. This family owned wine & cheese bar was worth every moment. From being welcomed in by Maude, to being introduced to their best bites, & to taste every part of our perfectly curated charcuterie & drinks, it was such a pleasant experience.

The place was so busy, which was so understandable toward the service, food, & drinks, but we were still comfortable the whole time. Maude was super attentive the entire dinner & made our time there one to remember!

I wish I lived closer so I can visit more often, but when I return to Montreal again, this will be the first place I visit! Thank you so much to Maude & the family for everything!

It was our 1st at time at Le psy .
It made our Valentines day perfect. An ideal place to expand your palette & knowledge of wine & cheeses . Very comfortable lighting & an intimate vibe . Everything was delicious. Staff was friendly , helpful & welcoming . Sit by the bar for an elemental experience !

We've been hoping to visit for a while, & we finally had the chance! We were greated & served by Maude, who was exceptionally kind, welcoming, & super informative when it came to suggested wines & cheeses. The atmosphere is cozy, funky, & interesting to observe (check out the bathrooms!). They have a surprisingly large collection of private import wines, & many cocktail options (ask for recommendations, you won't be disappointed). The food was fantastic! The amount of cheese options can feel overwhelming but don't hesitate to ask for help! The recommendations we received were spot on!! This is definitely a place to visit again… a second time… third time.. etc. :)

Le Psy Bar, in Montreal, is one of Canada's hidden gems. Le Psy Bar specializes in cheese, wine & specialty cocktails. The atmosphere reminds me of going to your best friend's home for an evening of wine & cheeses. There's nothing like friends around a chacuterie board, sharing stories & celebrating friends & family! This evening I had the French Onion Soup which was, bar none, the best I've ever had. Paired with two incredible wines, followed by a chacuterie board with warm camenbert cheese, drizzed with honey, pickles & sausage. The portions are generous! Service is 1:1 by the owners, as they make everyone feel like they've known you for years. The summer months has the addition of an outdoor patio. The Psy Bar is a 5 Star +++++++++. Many thanks! I'll be back in the summer!

Good wine & cheese. Great atmosphere & friendly people. As everything in Montreal it is expensive :)
