It's on the fancier side in terms of atmosphere, service & price. Quite a hefty price for brunch but it was worth it. The champêtre (mushroom & pork) poached eggs were amazing 10/10. Would order again. Lamb sandwich was also amazing. They unfortunately didn't have any soup so that was a bummer, we had to settle for the potatoes which weren't that good. The coffee was a bit lukewarm, would have liked it much hotter. The seating was also a bit crammed but I guess they need to maximize tables for their businessView more
I enjoyed my time here. The coffee was perfect, served with a thick cream on the side. There was also a wide variety of cocktails, including special morning cocktails. My favourite breakfast option Egg Benedict, but there were several other delicious choices.
As a side note, I hope they replace the worn-out menu book.View more
loved the atmosphere & the food. We tried the poached egg with lamb, grilled cheese, & French toast, all were amazing. The staff was also very friendly. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in MontrealView more
Poached egg with bone marrow might just be the best meal I've ever had in my life. Had a large group & service was fantastic.View more
Definitely pricey but I assure you it's worth it. The duck confit eggs Benedict & French toast are amazing!!View more
Worth walking through a blizzard for, we were quickly seated upon arrival & the hearty poached eggs brunch warmed us right up.

Brace yourself for some seriously DELICIOUS sandwiches! Amazing taste, cute place & veeeeery nice staff. With its art deco design, this restaurant gives a very romantic setting for a brunch/lunch/coffee date. As for the food, tasty, fresh, delicious, in one word, AMAZING! I tried a lot of sandwiches places in this specific neighborhood, & it's the first time I want seconds! I recommend the classic & the club. Finally, the coffee is also delicious & very flavorful. Also, if you want to try the brunch, make a reservation in advance, a lot of demand & for a very good reason, delicious food ! Try the French bread (deep fried with fresh fruits & a very tasty cream) & the foie gras with eggs (available without pork), it's to die for !View more
We love the food there & the atmosphere is really nice Must try the foie gras poached eggs!View more
The wait time was significantly longer than expected, we waited an hour for the food to arrive. When the food finally arrived, I was particularly disappointed with the foie gras poached egg dish. The portion size was surprisingly small for the price. As other reviews said, half the amount for same price.View more
Very disappointing experience! The foie gras dish is half of what it used to be for the same price. In the old location, they would give 2 brioches with egg & foie gras. The brioche is also not as buttery & flavourful as before. It tasted bland. The portion of the Brussels sprouts is very small. Would probably not come back.View more
Beautiful new location. The food is good however it is more expansive. For the same price as the previous location, they don't serve 2 poached eggs anymore. Only 1 for 40$ & no fruit on the side. I'd recommend the grilled cheese as the portion looks bigger.View more
I came to Le Passé Composé for lunch a while ago & tried their 2 Foie Gras Poached Eggs Benedict. The atmosphere was chill & relaxing & the server was quite friendly. The benedict was really good in terms of flavour, texture, overall food ratio/balance, nicely poached eggs, & good turnip/potato. Trying Foie Gras for the first time was interesting as well & the foie gras complimented the food. I would go there again for the food again but it may be better for couples as the dish can feel a bit overwhelming or greasy near the end. Overall, I'd give the experience 8.8/10View more
The best brunch in mtl ! It's worth the wait. I recommend going early as there's always a line. The foie gras poached eggs is delicious & very filling. Brioche bread, poached goose eggs, grade "A" foie gras (Rougié), foie gras sauce, onion jam, prosciutto chips, poppy seeds, arugula sprouts, honey-glazed turnips. It's so rich, so good. Their panko French toast is also a great dish. Highly recommend.View more
I really enjoyed eating at this place. The food is carefully thought out & the ambiance of the restaurant was great overall. We had the poached eggs with bone marrow & the maritimes one & both had their distinct flavour. The bone marrow had a generous portion & the maritime one too! However, the star of the show was the panko french toast. It was easily one of the best french toast I had. The texture of the panko just gives it its wow factor! The only dissapointment I had was that when we asked our new plates to be replaced since they were dirty , the waiter that we asked for (which was not our waiter) took them & threw the new plates back to us. Overall I would still recommend this place for the panko french toast that is amazing!View more
Food is great but they seem have staff shortage problem, only 2 servers with full capacity. Come & try the signature French toast & foie gras with 2 poached eggs. It was delicious! The only one I don't like is the strawberry smoothie is too sweet, they added yoghurt. However, Will be back again to try other dishes.View more
The price is outrageous! I basically paid $40 for a breakfast plate with 2 eggs (they give you goose eggs), 2 thick slices of spongy toast & mushroom soup all over the plate. Not much variety in the way of mushrooms, super rich & lacking texture (there were chips but they were burnt) & variety of flavours in my opinion to make the dish exciting. Service was nice, portions are massive so you could share, food came out super quick & the place had a nice vibe for breakfast.View more
Was recommended this brunch gem by a friend & wowzer! Loved this place! A reservation should be made as it’ll make life much easier as there was a very long line-up but resos helped. Very good service. We had the Maritimes Poached Egg, which was exceptional & a definite must-try! Lots of street parking around the neighborhood but took us time during the weekend.View more
Le Passé Composé is one of the most decadent brunches I've had in my life - & for a very reasonable price. & what I also loved was the laid-back & chill vibe of the restaurant itself.
I really only went for the foie gras poached eggs. The foie gras was nicely cooked & the sauce that they made was incredibly creamy & not too heavy/fatty. The onion jam & turnips were also nice additions for you to make a perfect bite, with extra textures & flavor. For the actual poached eggs, they were perfectly runny LOL. The brioche buns were also buttery & airy, & WAY better than the American's sad excuse of the thing they serve eggs Benedict on.
The panko french toast was also so good- i didnt know how much the panko changed French toast, but it did open my eyes. The toast was not soggy at all, & the panko added a nice extra crisp for texture. The caramelized pears were well cooked, not mushy, & deliciously slightly cinnamon-y.
I would definitely share the foie gras poached eggs, as it would've been too much for one person (have u ever tried eatin too much foie gras? Ur arteries start crying. plus u can try more of the menu!)View more
In love with this place. Best poached eggs I've had in my life. On the pricier side for a brunch place, but the taste & the quality ingredients makes it worth it. Great service. They alao have some nice morning cocktails 🍸View more
Very good bunch. We ordered Foie Gras Poached Eggs & French toast. My four old school friends from US were impressed.
The waiting for our food was just overwhelming,I saw this restaurant in Ig & I thought the concept was different but honestly I was expecting more.I ordered some Benedict eggs & the brioche felt like a piece of salted cake instead of bread(I guess is the only way to make it look gigantic),I did not finish my plate because it was just too
Much. They should focus on flavour rather than looks & portions.I don't think I'll come back, but I have to say the place has a cute terrace .
Excellent brunch spot. Poached egg plates are huge & could be shared by 2 people with normal appetites.
We were very disappointed. According to reviews it's an excellent place for brunch. However we went as a family & frankly... nope. The service was excellent, but the food was passable at best. I ordered the Tartiflette, my plate was cold, the food was luke-warm, the "caramelized" onions were mostly raw, the cheese was only partly melted which made for a gelatinous mess. The only well executed item on the plat was the egg. Honestly the composition of the dish was a bit of a mess, with too many ingredients without a single one being able to shine. Add to that that it's (by a lot) the most expensive brunch plate I've ever had, so I was expecting a LOT better. Big disappointment.
Slow service.....foie gras poached eggs & bone marrow are both too heavy. We couldn't finish. French toast & crumble crispy are good
We made a reservation & were seated as soon as we arrived. Drink service was a bit slow but it was to be expected as they were busy. Drinks & brunch dishes were delicious. We had poached egg froie gras & panko French toast, both were exceptional. Service was friendly & atmosphere was nice. Highly recommend!
Got a recommendation to check out this joint on our trip to Montreat. We were able to get a booking & the place did not disappoint. With the ambiancr, the sevice & most importantly, the food! They were all excellet. We got the 2 Country Poached Egg & 2 Poached Eggs Foie Gras & French Toast for my daughter on their kids menu. We were surprised with serving size as they were huge & most importantly delish!
A couple of bites from our full experience review -
"La Passe Compose was positioned as something a bit less touristy & very much Quebecois-French oriented, ideal for brunch."
"Our Rural Poached Egg dish came with parsley, brioche, some pesto, oyster & mini shiitakes mushroom. A massive boost of flavor was provided by smoked shoulder ham in the porcini sauce."
