What did we eat? Whatever the chef decided. I love taking the tasting menu, having no expectations, & enjoy the food so much. The restaurant is very small, so be sure to reserve. We wanted a table but ended up at the bar- which ended up being a good experience as we were able to see all the action in the kitchen.
If you like great food with a neighborhood restaurant atmosphere then you'll love this place. Not noisy, not a scene, just a chef & his crew cooking very tasty French inspired food. We were on vacation so we went for the $150 tasting menu. We didn't know exactly how many dishes or how much food we would get but it was at least 6 courses. Nothing was in writing so we just went with our chef/host suggestions. Everything was good but I was so full at the end I couldn't really appreciate the last course. The wines by the glass were excellent too. I would definitely come back here. We sat at the bar & watched them prepare the food. Fun!!

We dined here over the weekend & had such high hopes for this place but unfortunately left here with a very bad taste in my mouth & will not be recommending this to anybody.
I had booked a table for two 1-month in advance & yet the waiter directed us to the bar trying to convince us that this was the best'VIP' seats in this very small restaurant. When we insisted to the waiter that we wanted to sit at a table instead of this VIP area where we are just staring at cups/plates, they refused to move us to a table unless we were willing to spend $150 PER PERSON for their chefs tasting menu. Absolutely ridiculous. We heard great things about this chef's menu so we decided to move forward with it so we can sit at a table, but this had already left me feeling very unwelcomed as a customer when we had a small request to sit at a table (which I very clearly booked) & it ended up costing us a bill with a minimum spend of $300.
The food was good, but was absolutely not $400 good (including tip & a couple of drinks). The first small appetizers on little crackers were great & we enjoyed the small crackers with fish roe. We also enjoyed the fresh crab & fish tartare but it wasn't mind-blowing by any means. The main dish was a crab gnocchi which was decent but again, the flavours were not mind-blowing & nothing to rave about. I've definitely had better pasta that did not cost an arm & a leg. The portions were small & we still left the dinner hungry.
Overall, I felt like this restaurant was trying to upsell us at ANY opportunity without even giving us a welcoming, enjoyable, & positive dining experience. They encouraged us to get a bottle of wine multiple times which we declined (given that we were already prepared to spend that $300 plus cocktails).
We left very very disappointed in this restaurant & the whole dining experience. The food was a 3/5 AT BEST & was extremely over-priced. Additionally, the cancellation policy is ridiculous. They will absolutely charge you the hold fee no matter what even if plans change & you can't attend so be absolutely 100% sure you can go on the day of reservation.
I do not recommend this restaurant & will not be returning again.
One of the most spectacular meals I've ever had. The vibes of this restaurant are amazing. Our service was outstanding & every bite of food was incredible. Every bite felt like one of the best bites ever & we've been talking about it for two months since we've been. Would definitely recommend the chef's tasting menu because it was outstanding. We can't wait to be back in Montreal to come back to this spot!
I can't say enough how wonderful our experience was! The food was amazing - the beef tartare especially so, & the chocolate cake was one of the best desserts I've ever had at a restaurant. Our server Benjamin was super lovely, & the cigar menu was a delightful surprise. I cannot wait to go back & do a chef's tasting menu.
Overall a great night. We mentioned we wanted to avoid dairy but that a *little butter was okay. Turned out that the tasting menu had butter as a main component for several dishes. While a little butter doesn't affect us, we felt pretty horrible later on that night. I suppose you can't avoid consuming a ton of butter at this spot:(
The food is delicious, well presented, & original. The chef tasting menu is totally worth it & can be tailored to your needs (ex. no meat). The service is excellent! A great place for sharing a meal in good company.

My partner & I got the tasting menu at $100 each. The food was tasty overall although nothing blew us away, & we found the "parisa" tartare & tuna balls in tomato sauce lacklustre. We personally felt that the ingredients, presentation, & creativity fell somewhat short of the cost. The chocolate dessert was the standout dish for us, & the service was very attentive & professional.
A Montreal'Must-See' & a Plateau staple. The food is always interesting & fantastic. The cocktails are simple, but they nail the classics. Staff is extremely professional, but friendly, charming, & attentive. A great spot for a cozy date night, or groups that want a robust tasting menu. Cannot wait to go back!
This is THE best restaurant in town. I have probably been there about 50 times since it has opened if I recall about 12 years ago. It has never disappointed & it has just gotten better, even if that seemed impossible at times, it is that good. The Chef is an absolute raw talent, & is nothing less than an artist, creating dishes with a fusion of flavors, leaving you speechless at every bite. Execution is as perfect as the dishes are original. Having gone there many times over the years, I have tasted almost everything, but they still surprise me with new creations each time. One of their classics is the Korean tartare, which I can easily say is the best tartare I ever had. Their tasting menu is absolutely insane, & you can trust the Chef to give you a nice variety of dishes & flavors that will make it a night to remember. But what makes it really an exceptional experience all around, is the combination of a talented & creative Chef in Maksim Morin, along with a beautiful location, a warm ambiance playing classic hip-hop from the 90s, & last but not least, one of the best waiters I have ever had in Ben. This man knows how to take care of his guests, treat them like royalty, in a simple, yet friendly & elegant way. This place feels like home, & the only downside is not yet knowing when will be the next time I will visit them.

Came here for my birthday as I was told by several people how amazing the restaurant is. & let me tell you.... It did not disappoint. I had originally heard about their truffle gnocchi however, when we got there, the waiter informed us that there was no truffle gnocchi at the time since they were not able to source good quality truffle - while slightly disappointed, I appreciated the waiters honesty & the restaurants commitment to QUALITY.
We took the tasting menu (you can choose a budget from $100-$360) of $100 per person & we left the restaurant completely full. The portions were perfect, everything was so delicious.
The waiter explained that you don't necessarily get more food if you choose a more expensive tasting menu, rather, you'll see items of higher quality like caviar & wagyu.
The $100 tasting menu included Korean beef tartare, razor clams, cherry tomatoes with a feta & cream cheese mix, lamb chops, scallops, & the piece de resistance... veal chop with a creamy linguine on top. However, you can customize the tasting menu to your liking so it can look very different from table to table.
The food was perfection, scallops were tender, lamb & veal as well. Nothing lacked flavour - we were honestly very impressed.
& can't forget to mention the service... incredible. For a restaurant that doesn't look like much from the outside, the food will blow you away. Highly recommend you visit!

Absolutely one of the best meals & experiences we ever had. We were lucky sit at the bar & engage in conversation with our professional waiter & also the owners/chefs. I did put trust in our waiter to design the meal according to his recommendations, & I was. not disappointed. We essentially did a quasi tasting menu. When I saw a beautiful truffle, being shaved over the most creamy gnocchi, I knew I'd be reaching deep in my pocket, but I just didn't care. He recommended a wonderful bordeaux in the mid price (not highest) range, & it balanced perfectly with everything. We were lucky to be there towards closing & that allowed us to talk to both the owner & some regulars sitting at the bar. We listened to them debate the restaurant scene in Montreal with energy & passion, all for our benefit. I know I'm gushing over this restaurant, but it is for good reason. Do not miss this one.
We were looking forward to this dinner for weeks. We have come for dinner before, & the food & experience was always incredible, so our expectations were high. Our experience this time around was very disappointing. We opted for the $100 tasting menu, as we've done previously. In the past we received between 5-6 courses, this time only 3. When we realized this I think our server could see we were disappointed & offered to add, at an extra cost, a cheese course to finish. The quality of food was good however the portion size was significantly smaller than our last experiences, & were primarily fish & vegetarian, we had one small piece of pork each. For a tasting menu of $100, the dishes were extremely disappointing & we actually left hungry. This used to be our favourite restaurant & we chose it for our special occasions. I'm not sure if this night was an anomaly, but I will definitely think twice about coming back.

Wonderful restaurant. Always a great experience, amazing service, incredible food, & excellent selection of wines. You can't go wrong with the tasting menu
This is a small, neighbourhood restaurant, but in my opinion one of the best in the city. It has a very eclectic menu, but the food is always fabulous. The staff are attentive & knowledgeable, & the wine list excellent.
I highly recommend doing the tasting menu, you will be pleasantly surprised.
If you want to feel like a local, this is the spot.
