Of course this restaurant is touristy, not much in old town Montréal escapes that description, but at the same time it is absolutely wonderful. Both things can be true we discovered. We sat inside & proceeded to have French onion soup, Caesar salad & the best chicken either of us had ever had. What made it more that just exceptional food & a great spot was the waiter Manuel. He has been there for 35 years & his service was extraordinary. I hope he is appreciated by the owners. He made it a memorable night for both of us.
Service impeccable, Nourriture excellente .
My daughter & I have had a hard time to be able to plan a mom & daughter time due to her work schedules… so we had planned an evening out in
Montreal to go for an early supper than to the Ballet .
I had called the restaurant to book reservations & I spoke with the owner David Dias ( what a wonderful person… so friendly!!) I explained my situation & he was more than willing to accommodate out time frame … the food was amazing ( I am a high end chef by trade so food is my passion) the service was outstanding & we ended up skipping the ballet & did an amazing tapas experience that brought me & my daughter back to our trip to Portugal & Spain. !! We spent over 4.5 hours eating a very well spaced out meal with wine paring & talking which was a well overdue mom & daughter outing that my daughter & I was blown away with how amazing everything was !
We found out that this restaurant is a generational owned family business & we were even served by the current son who took over when his beloved father has passed away during Covid … David explained that he always worked with his mom & dad & now his son is working with him … wat a wonderful family & business so heart warming & a place to go to for an amazing experience it definitely made memories for me & my daughter Amanda !!
Excellent restaurant. La nourriture est excellente. Soupe à l'oignon divine & steak frites à point. A découvrir. Un des meilleurs restaurants du Vieux Montréal.
This place is good, I would recommend the chicken Piri, you get to eat at a nice place in the old port & get out with around 40$ & I was full by the end of the night. They also give you free bread & olive so I would skip the entree & dessert. The waiters are very kind & have an old school style to them which I appreciated. If you really want to be at the old port & find a nice sit down restaurant, this is a nice option
Only thing is weird is why the plates are super hot, I'm seeing microwave here & I'm guessing that is why. I find it odd...but the food was good so
Steven, not necessarily a microwave, but heated plates have indeed gone out of style it seems. We heat ours at home, but not so hot so it burns you. Thank you for your review. Joseph
Ci sono tornato dopo anni. Posto carino e accogliente. Bel posto e cibo delizioso!!! Bravi bravi. Consigliato !!!

Popped in here on a whim for my wife's birthday. So glad we did. This is a perfect romantic spot for a nice meal & some great wine. The service was great & we'll definitely be back!
Had dinner on a snowy Thursday, during a little hockey game, so the restaurant was not busy, but we had a window seat & a lovely time. We had excellent service from Anthony, truly professional, very attentive without being intrusive. Had some excellent oysters, followed by seared foie gras ( which we both prefer over a terrine or parfait ) & lamb, all well cooked. We also felt it was good value for money in old Montreal, our Sancerre was $62, & the foie gras at $25 was excellent value. The half rack of lamb was 4 bones for $36, also very good value. Anthony prepared proper Irish coffees tableside. A lovely night, thank you so much!
We had a fantastic experience at "La Sauvagine"! The ambiance was warm & inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal.
Our waiter, Anthony, provided excellent service-he was incredibly welcoming & attentive, making sure we had everything we needed . We arrived from the cold, & he thoughtfully turned the heater on for us, making us feel instantly comfortable.
The food was just as impressive. The French onion soup was hands down the best in the city-rich, flavourful, & perfectly balanced.
I also loved escargots, which was perfectly cooked, seasoned & presented.
The ingredients tasted fresh, & the portion sizes were just right. Every detail, from the warm hospitality to the delicious meal, made our visit memorable.
I highly recommend La Sauvagine to anyone looking for great food & a wonderful dining experience. Can't wait to return! We will definitely be back!
