About us

At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.

The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

Come discover La Khaima’s unique refreshing drink made from the hibiscus flower and their mint tea. These marvelous drinks, in addition to mezzes are available by day at Khaїma cafe, 148 Fairmount. It is a meeting

La nourriture c'est délicieux le restaurant n est pas très chic mais j'adore comme même c le but par contre j'ai pas trop aimé le service c un peu long & aussi les serveurs & serveuses sont pas trop former pour bien parler avec les gens ça boude des fois & lorsque j'ai demandé c quand la commande on aurait pu me réponde on s excuse mais ça sera pas long mais ce n'était pas le cas ça boude. J'aurai aimé écouter un peu de music oriental pour donner le charme au restaurant arabe .Mais j'avoue que la nourriture est très très bonne comme pas possible juste svp prendre en considération mon commentaire merci bcp & j vais revenir plus souvent c sure merci bcp

Une place non recommandée pour un groupe, pour un anniversaire ou pour son service & sa qualité-prix. D'abord, 25$ pour 3 morceaux de pita à l'hummus, une petite soupe au pois qui manque de sel & très flat & une petite assiette de couscous ordinaire aux légumes & un peu de boeuf & poulet, c'est cher. Nous n'avions pas fini de manger & certain d'entre nous était en train de manger encore, la serveuse est venue débarrasser la table & a amené le dessert (consister d'un petit carré de pâtisserie & un verre de thé). Ils sont venus nous dire de nous en aller parce qu'ils y a d'autres clients qui attendent alors que nous nous apprêtons à partir. La chose qui nous a été étrange, c'est un des serveurs qui est venu nous demander une ''tranche de notre gâteau d'anniversaire''.... Les places n'étaient pas aussi bien comme sur les photos. L'environnement est bruyant & stressant. Le service est étrange & mauvais. La bouffe était ordinaire. Le prix est excessif. Nous ne retournerons probablement jamais.

La nourriture est très bonne & vaudrait 4 étoiles. Mais l'accueil, le service & le confort des tables laissent malheureusement à désirer. Une fois le restaurant bondé, ça devient bruyant & on a du mal à circuler pour se rendre aux toilettes, remettre nos bottes & notre manteau, etc. Je me suis sentie coincée. Je n'y retournerai probablement pas.

Bonjour,
J'ai apprécié l'accueil chaleureux, le repas était présenté dans un grand plat, de façon très conviviale, tous mes invités étaient ravis. Cependant, il faudra penser à rendre les sièges vraiment plus confortables en ajoutant coussins & appuis pour le dos.

Bel accueil & bonne bouffe réconfortante! Les tissus au plafond, sur les murs & sur les bancs & leurs couleurs vives réchauffent même quand c'est l'hiver & qu'il pleut. En plus, on enlève ses souliers à l'entrée: on se sent chez soi.

Beaucoup de groupes très bruyants. & sièges très inconfortables. On peut réserver dans l'espace où il y a des chaises. Sinon la bouffe est délicieuse, le côté coloré de la déco est sympa, les serveurs adorables.

Wonderful! It's very liberating to not have to worry about what you are ordering. They just tell you what is being made that day, & then bring you some pita, hummus & dal style soup. Would highly recommend this place & would definitely go here again, maybe with a bigger group as that seems like a nicer way to experience this place.
