La Khaïma Cuisine Nomade offers a warm, immersive dining experience that feels like a Mauritanian home in Montreal. The decor is authentically traditional and cozy, creating a welcoming atmosphere where the staff and the owner take care to explain the menu and make guests feel at ease. Dishes arrive in generous, shareable portions as part of a per-person fixed menu that typically starts with a lentil soup and continues with a richly flavored couscous platter, with vegetarian and gluten-free options available. Flavors are described as comforting and vibrant, with mint tea and hibiscus drinks often highlighted as perfect finishers. The setting is friendly and intimate, with guests welcomed to bring their own wine and prices that are considered very reasonable, making it a memorable spot to explore North African and Mauritanian cuisine with family or friends.
Very charming restaurant with a very tasty set menu & a cozy atmosphere. Some of the best hummus I've ever had, & very tasty sweet beef as well. The staff were very kind of sauced us a second serving of mint tea
A great place to check out if you want a unique dining experience! The atmosphere was incredible & made you feel like you were abroad, the service was great as the people were very nice, & the food was incredible. Soup, large couscous blend enough for two, & a Moroccan mint tea at the end. I suggest going here if you'd like to try something new in the city!

Delicious! They even had gluten free couscous for my spouse & mother in law! The ambiance was fantastic & cozy, though people with mobility restrictions might have a tough time. Service was friendly & encouraged us to slow down & enjoy the meal & moment with one another. Mint tea at the end was a highlight!
The food & service were absolutely incredible! This place deserves a way higher rating. We got the course meal with lentil soup & then a mixture of chicken & olives, beef cooked with dates & raisins, & lastly a vegetarian option (carrots, zucchini, tomato, onion, chickpeas) all on top of flavourful couscous. Afterwards, we were served mint tea (sweetened). Everything was delicious! The owner (i presume) always came to check up on us to see if we enjoyed the food.
Absolute gem! La Khaima cuisine has a limited selection of items to chose from in the menu. Each item we ordered were absolutely delightful & tasted authentic. Best lentil soup & mint tea I've ever had.
Shout out to the owner that made our group feel welcome while visiting over the long weekend. He not only made our experience in Montreal unforgettable, but also offered incredible insight to the bagels through his baking background. Highly recommend visiting.
It was Fantastic! They were really sweet & patient with my daughter & the food was sooo good! I am usually a picky eater but their soup & couscous were delicious😍 especially the beef made with date sauce👌 The tea was good too but just a bit too sweet, so if you dont like your tea too sweet, remember to ask for no sugar. Really worth the price 🙌🏼 Also they dont have a menu they always serve the same thing,a small bowl of lentil soup for each as an entree with pita, then a big plate of couscous with sweet beef, chicken & veggies to share between everyone (the plate on the picture was big & for 5 persons). Finally tea & a little piece of some type of coconut'cake' I dont remember what they called it😅 anyways So so good ❤? would recommend to go before 8 pm on weekends because it fills up fast
If you're ever in Montreal this restaurant is an absolute recommendation! The interior & atmosphere is just so authentic & detailed. You take your shoes of & sit on little cushioned benches. There is no a la carte menu just couscous with different toppings to share. It's going to be too much but don't worry they have to go boxes & it tastes amazing the next day. After dinner we got complimentary mint tea (a bit on the too sweet side) but that's how the do it back home. We enjoyed the food a lot & would definitely come back

Such an underrated place in my opinion! Supper is served by special: the chef's selection for the evening, which means that you get to sit back, drink delicious mint tea & be served the flavors of the moment in a beautiful, cozy setting. They even had a gluten free option for my partner! Very romantic, great spot for a date 🌹
A hidden gem in Montreal, this Mauritanian restaurant offers an authentic African dining experience that transports you straight to the heart of the continent. The moment you step inside, the warm ambiance, traditional decor, & carefully curated atmosphere immerse you in a blend of North & Sub-Saharan African culture. The calm & welcoming environment, paired with a friendly & skilled chef & team, makes every visit special.
The menu features rich, flavorful dishes, including perfectly prepared couscous & aromatic tea, served with a touch of Mauritanian hospitality. Whether you're here for a casual meal or a cultural experience, the setting, food, & atmosphere make you feel like you're sitting in a traditional African gathering, surrounded by the essence of both dessert & savanna life.

Highly recommended. I went alone but the restaurant has cultivated a genuine convivial ambiance. The food was beyond amazing, as was the maghrebi mint tea after the meal.
The place: The atmosphere inside is good, simple comfy. Service: very lacking, expect no menu, except a guy who will seat you & offer you 3 things & disappear The food: taste is ok but the presentation is not good at all. Cleanliness: Could use some. Price: this is a puzzle, as I have no clue how I got charged over $90 for a plate that the guy mentioned will be $30, two soups, small hibiscus drink & small mint tea. Value: expensive for the all what has been mentioned, given no menu options.
We were pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing .. my boys loved the 3 types of couscous served with the lentil soups (chicken with olives, beef with dates, & veggies with chick peas). The tea was sweet & very minty. We highly recommend this place for a tasty dinner & cozy time. Thank you!
Amazing place & excellent food! Very kind humble staff! The best dinner I had in years! The best is the mint tea! 😝☕️🇲🇷 Endroit incroyable & nourriture excellente! Personnel humble & très gentil! Le meilleur dîner que j'ai eu depuis des années ! Le meilleur c'est le thé à la menthe ! 😝☕️🇲🇷

We started with a lentil soup, which was super creamy & tasty. We had two large plates of couscous (one vegetarian & one with meat) as the main course & both were delicious. The portions are very generous. We were a large group of 12 people & there were leftovers. Service was also great & the hibiscus tea served at the end was refreshing. I recommend this place !
Decor & ambiance is fun. The food was average. The lentil soup was a little blend, couscous was extremely salty, tea was way too sweet. Service was impeccable.
The seats may not be the most comfortable for anyone with a bad back, but the service & food & atmosphere are incredible. There appears to be mostly a small set menu, of which included a soup & pita as a starter, lovely hibiscus juice & a tea to end the courses. Great restaurant, I will definitely return!
