I thought I would love this place, but I ended up not really liking it. The coffee was insanely strong- almost undrinkable, & I thought the pastries were too sweet. Maybe it was just us though, because people do rave about this place & it did go viral, but I didn't really like it & probably won't go back.
For reference: We got the tiramisu circular croissant, the red velvet croissant, & an iced coffeeView more
Pastries are a bit expensive, but the chocolate chip cookie is phenomenal 🍪 Really beautiful patio to enjoy in warm weather.View more
One of the best pain au chocolat & overall pastries in Montreal… they taste amazing. If they would be fresh, I would give them 5 stars on food though. But still delicious. They're on the more expensive side, but they're worth it. They're located in a very nice historical area of downtown of Montreal.
Their staff is usually nice, haven't had yet a bad experience. I'm sure I'll keep coming here, every time I have cravings.View more
If I could rate value for your money, I would give it a 2/5 stars. The food was good but too expensive for what you're getting.
Went to get breakfast here on a Sunday. It was so busy & you can tell the place was popular. Everyone was served quickly so you weren't waiting in line for more than a minute or two.
I ordered a'hangover cure' with a maple latte for myself & a jambon beurre sandwich for my husband. The hangover cure is a croissant sandwich with cheese, chives, bacon & a runny egg. Each sandwich was $12.50. The latte was $6 or $6.50. Somehow with 15% tax I paid $36.22. The price surprised me because at first, I didn't realize how expensive my sandwich was & I didn't realize there was an egg in the sandwich. However, I still believe the price of the food was inflated overall.
The jambon beurre was made with fresh bread but it was stiff & cold. Nothing was warmed up or toasted. The ham & cheese was cut thick but also cold. Maybe it's supposed to be like that & it's just our fault for expecting something different.
In comparison, the hangover cure was warmed up & toasted. The bacon was the perfect amount of crispy & chewy. The cheese was delicious, I've never had anything like it. I had to eat it with a fork & knife however because everything was oozing out. Not a critique, just a beware if you order & think you're going to be able to walk with it.
The maple latte was really good but small. About the size of a small coffee from McDonalds in Canada. So $6-6.50 for that is a lot.
There was a variety of other pastries there as well that many patrons were purchasing.View more
Best pastries I've had in all of Montreal! Such wonderful staff & the place has an amazing atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone :)View more
Super cute location, tasty pastries, however the breakfast sandwich - called the hangover cure - is not good. It lacks flavor & is covered in bland béchamel sauce. I couldn't even finish half of the sandwich it was so distasteful.View more
Thankful for this little cave at closing time. Generous service & delightful pastries.View more
Delicious pastries. They're famous for their croissant eclairs.View more
The pastries were absolutely incredible. We tried the red velvet croissant which was so delicious without being too rich or sweet, we loved it so much we had to get more for the road! Also the coffees are really smooth & balance their sweet treats perfectly.View more
Awesome environment. Great people & delicious pastries!View more
Great variety of pastries, I've tried four & all of them were absolutely delicious. London fog tea needs some improvement though, but you can't excel at everything at the same timeView more
Probably the best pastries I've ever had. The man that served the pastries had top tier customer service to start off. But most importantly, wow… these pastries are done so perfectly. The ONLY sad thing about this place is how there is limited dine in space, which is understandable. But honestly, the fact that the pastries are so amazing makes up for it. Definitely worth driving here for!View more
Such a great all around space & vibe. The pastries are big & baked to a wonderful texture with a slightly crisp outer layer & very fluffy interior. All made right there behind the counter. Also recommend the matcha hot chocolate. Very matcha forward & delightful, to not mention a beautiful color.View more
This place is ridiculously expensive. Almost $10 for a croissant is insane, but honestly, it's worth it. The almond chocolatine is one of the best pastries I've ever had. Definitely worth a visit for a splurge on a sweet treat. It's busy & crowded & there's not much room to sit down in the winter.View more
Freshly baked pastries; very friendly staff; highly recommended. The only thing to note is that access is online from outside but it is worth being lostView more
Super delicious. Super nice. The staff was exceptional & went above & beyond. The pastries were delicious & flakes.View more
We stopped in to order some pastries for dessert. The chocolatine/pain au chocolat was very good. The pistachio & strawberry matcha croissant(?) rolls were good too. They tasted great, but the bavarois/filling's consistency wasn't what I expected. Overall, a neat bakery in a nice setting.View more
Not surprisingly, I am back here for the second morning in a row. La Cave a Manger is a tiny, unassuming bakery that may well be the best find of my two week sojourn in Canada. I stumbled upon wonderfully fresh & tasty oceanside seafood in Newfoundland, an astonishing 7-course tasting menu on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, & oysters & a panko crusted haddock burger done perfectly on Prince Edward Island, but the pastries & bread here are simply world-class. At the risk of slipping into a food coma today, I am back to have another three pastries here & to take away at least six croissants & a couple loaves of bread. The service has been warm, friendly, & responsive each time I have been here, & it has both a cute little seating area inside & a larger patio space outside. I will be back.View more
This is what you can expect from French bakery & coffee shop! Nice, welcome, & down to earth staff, which they love their job. There is an option to eat-out or stay in. However, if it is gloomy day, I would suggest outside because of stone-carpet street aside. They offer Breads & Pastries, using organic flour & filtered waterlog fermentation process to enhance flavor & digestibility, as well as pepperoni pizza, Natural Wines. Strongly recommended!View more
I particularly enjoy their croissants, especially the chocolate ones. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some fresh pastries & coffee.View more
Really delicious pastries & coffee. Is small inside but has a nice patio.View more
Amazing little cafe, wide assortment of pastries & good drinks. Extremely friendly staff.View more
Best croissants & pastries in the town. The espresso shot was also amazing. Might come to Montreal again just to eat here !!!View more
The store is a bit small, but the food is really good. I had the pistachio croissant & a matcha milkshake, which was pretty nice. The pastries can be a little too sweet for some people but it tastes incredible. 100% would go back to taste their pastries.View more
The place to go if you want the mythical round-stuffed-croissant. We went there close to 6pm & they still had them in stock. Its 11 or 12$ for a single croissant, but its huge. The employee was very kind & gave us a gift, which was an extra croissant when we opened it outside, insane. They also have a plethora of fresh baked bread & pastries. It's a tiny shop in the basement of the marche Bonsecours with steep steps so watch out when you go there.View more
Small place, but the food is on another level. All the pastries have a good quality.View more
I came here to grab some last-minute snacks. They had a flavor of San Pellegrino that I never had before. Too bad they ran out of the other pastries already, must've been really good, but I got chocolate croissants & pizza. The staff were really friendly & warm to me as a tourist, & they helped me pick a bottle of wine to go. Would visit again just for their customer service.View more
The service is great, very nice & generous! I also loved their pastries, everything I tried was mouth-watering. The prices were also quite affordable considering the size of each piece. Definitely recommend & worth every penny.View more
