Review Summary

La Cave à Manger is a tiny yet highly praised bakery tucked into Old Montreal with a cozy, intimate vibe and a small seating area, where pastries are repeatedly described as flaky, buttery and addictive. Standouts include the pistachio roll, croissant eclairs, croissants and the tiramisu croissant roll, along with beloved bagels and ham and cheese croissant, and the space often earns praise for its breads and creative offerings; the pistachio croissant and red velvet croissant are frequently cited as among the best in town. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, with staff going the extra mile, though some notes mention prices being on the high side for the portions and occasional inconsistencies in flavor. The space is small and sometimes crowded, with outdoor seating in good weather, and the basement location adds rustic charm. Overall, La Cave à Manger stands out as a must visit for pastry lovers in the Old Port, delivering high quality baked goods and a welcoming atmosphere, with many reviewers already planning a return.

Absolutely fantastic. The Cinnabon bun was so so good. Also had the ham & cheese croissant & it was just amazing. Will be coming back!

Incontournable ! À goûter de toute urgence ! Un accueil top, des pâtisseries à tomber par terre & un feuilletage aussi beau que bon! Une grande adresse qui nous ramène en enfance, mille merci...nous reviendrons !😍😋🔝

Simply put. One of the best places to get pastry in Montreal. The bagels here are also my favourite.
Prefer them to the other well known places

This place was recommended to me whilst I was on a tour of Montréal. The staff are extremely friendly & the produce is absolutely delicious. I had the chocolatine & was not disappointed!

Sweet little pastry shop. Staff was very friendly & helpful. The young lady at the tourist centre recommended it & we really enjoyed it. Our snacks were delicious.

Small cozy place. The food is really good. Last time I went there was not much variety, but was good. They have some exterior places to eat but I magine during the winter would be a good place just to have food to go.

A great casual dining spot located in a very central location in Bonsecours Market in Old Montreal. We stopped here during a late summer day at the port & had an excellent meal with prompt service.

We had a plain Croissant, Croissant Aux Amandes, Tomates Sechees & Pour Ici Pizza Slices &, freshly squeezed orange juice & 3 bottles of water which totaled $40.79 CAD. If I had more room, I would have definitely have had a Chocolat Chaud as well!

The boulangerie also sells their freshly baked breads wholesale to other retail dining establishments so they are well-known & well-regarded.

PROS
- Great central location in Old Montreal.
- Friendly, chill staff.
- Great food & a decent value, given the location. Most of the restaurants in the area are much pricier options.
- Nice outdoor, covered sitting area.

CONS
- Small indoor dining area.
- Outdoor sitting tables tuned over quickly & were not cleaned as frequently which attracted wasps / bees.

La Cave a Manger is a highly recommended casual dining spot when you are in Old Montreal & I will certainly be back.

Awesome pastries & good coffee! A bit tricky to enjoy pastries outside because of sparrows attacks 🙂

Simply the greatest pastries I've ever had. Ended up visiting multiple times during our stay in Montreal. Hope to return soon in the future! Very friendly staff also. Highly recommend to anyone & should be a must visit spot. Please try the pistachio!!
