La Cage defines the quintessential sports-centric dining experience by prioritizing bold flavors and high-energy atmosphere. The menu anchors itself on premium Quebec-raised beef burgers, which feature thick, flame-grilled patties served on artisanal buns with signature house sauces. Guests encounter a diverse selection of pub-style classics, including crispy chicken wings tossed in various spice profiles and generous portions of poutine topped with squeaky cheese curds. Large high-definition screens occupy the perimeter, broadcasting live athletic events to ensure an immersive environment for fans. The facility utilizes an open, modern layout designed for high-capacity viewing, complemented by a extensive variety of local craft beers and accessible beverage options. Every aspect of the operation focuses on delivering hearty, consistent comfort food within a vibrant setting that emphasizes communal enjoyment of major televised sports competitions.
La Cage is widely recognized as a premier destination for sports enthusiasts, offering an electric atmosphere, numerous large screens, and a lively environment perfect for watching major events like the World Cup or hockey games. Many patrons praise the friendly, professional, and efficient service provided by the staff, frequently highlighting individual servers for making their visits memorable. While the complimentary popcorn and extensive beer selection are popular, opinions on the food quality are mixed; some guests enjoy staples like burgers, nachos, and wings, while others report inconsistencies with portion sizes, preparation, or seasoning. Located in the heart of downtown, the restaurant is a convenient choice for groups, though potential diners should be aware that it can become quite busy and noisy during game nights, and reservation policies can occasionally lead to confusion regarding table availability.
We were excited to come to Cage to watch the World Cup final & planned to spend the afternoon there, ordering food & drinks. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing.
When we arrived, the only available space was in the corner of the restaurant, where there were just two seats. There were three of us, so we figured one person could simply share a seat while we watched. We weren't blocking anyone's view or taking up extra space, especially since there was plenty of room to stand nearby.
Mind you; there were empty seats around that the manager didn't even want to give it to us.
Instead of trying to find a reasonable solution, the manager immediately told us to leave. There was no effort to accommodate us, no empathy, & no customer service. His attitude came across as dismissive & arrogant, as though there was no room for discussion.
Rather than giving Cage our business, we chose to leave & spend our money elsewhere. It's disappointing that on one of the biggest sporting events of the year, customer service was handled this way.
A little flexibility & kindness would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience ensured we won't be returning.
Our first impression was fairly neutral, but once we were seated, the experience completely turned around. The food was fresh & delicious. The atmosphere was lively & fun, making it the perfect sports bar to relax, enjoy a good meal, & catch the game.
A special thank you to our waitress, Rosalie, who was incredibly enthusiastic, friendly, & attentive throughout our visit. Her positive attitude & excellent service truly turned the experience around & made our evening very enjoyable.
We'll definitely be coming back & would highly recommend this sports bar to anyone looking for good food, a nice atmosphere, & outstanding service. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
I LOVE this place. Of course, it's the perfect spot to watch any sports game (hockey, baseball, soccer, etc...), but, really, this is my go-to venue for any occasion. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about it.
Atmosphere: I have been to many La Cage locations, but this one is truly the best. Nice layout, huge screens, & so many TVs all around that you always have a great view.
Food & drinks: So tasty. My favorites: chicken wings, burgers, pizzas, nachos, & the tuna tataki bowl, just to name a few. They also have a nice selection of beer-always fresh.
Staff: The best part & the main reason why I love this place. I have never had a negative experience with any of them. In fact, they make our time here so much better. Simon is the best; he makes sure we have an amazing time every single visit. & kudos to Vince, Sara, Margarita, Alex, & all the others whose names I can't remember (sorry!).
They also have nice specials almost every day, plus a great point system & perks on their app.
For those visiting Montreal, the location can't be better. Right at the festival site (Quartier des Spectacles) on Sainte-Catherine street.
Thx for the great customer service
Will be back again
Lauriane Is an amazing bartender & server. Very friendly & great customer service. Set an example for others. Keep up the the great work Lauriane. Thanks again.
For the 2nd time I went here Ariane is also an amazing server. Thanks for great service & hard work. I really hope you get recognition both of you.
I think reading the reviews people are confused about what La Cage is about. It's not about the best meal you'll ever eat. It's about an amazing atmosphere to watch a sporting event. Great service, great atmosphere, decent food & drinks. If this is your understanding & expectation it is 5 stars all the way. If your focus is quality of food & drink then there are many better option. Personally we loved our experience watching the Canadiens kick butt & we would definitely return.
Friendly, efficient service. Large screen for watching sports but blasting modern country music. My cocktail was delightfully strong but unbalanced in flavour; my friend found his fish tacos mediocre.
