Review Summary

Reviews describe La Cage as a lively sports bar with big screens, a festive atmosphere, and a broad menu that suits groups and casual diners, especially for watching games. The service is often praised as attentive and friendly, with perks like free popcorn on arrival and quick, helpful staff that contribute to a positive experience, though during big events the noise can be high and reservations are recommended. Food quality is mixed: burgers, fish tacos, and some other dishes earn praise, while other items arrive overly salty, cold, or underwhelming, and a few experiences mention slow kitchen timing or disappointing poutine. Prices can feel steep for lunch, and a handful note language or broadcast issues for English speakers during French programming, but overall La Cage is viewed as a solid spot for drinks, socializing, and sports.

Tout s'est bien passé, les plats tops, l'ambiance pour une game des canadiennes est géniale. Le service top, attentionné & soucieux que nous manquons de rien, super agréable & chaleureux ! Merci à toi André

I'm writing this review to advise others about how confusing game nights can be at this location. I live nearby, so it's usually my go-to place when I feel like watching a game.

In the past, I was told that there are no reservations for the bar section & that it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of that, I came early specifically to request a booth so I could secure the table I wanted. However, when I arrived, I was told I couldn't have the booth because it was reserved - which contradicts what I had previously been told about not being able to reserve those tables.

The hostess then said she could gladly give me another table. I mentioned that I was there to watch the game, which is why I wanted that specific seating area. I ordered my drink, only to find out afterward that I would have to leave by 6:30 because they needed the table.

The manager came over & explained there had been a misunderstanding, but that I still needed to leave because the table was reserved. As a result, I had to quickly finish my drink & leave.

I place the responsibility for this situation on the manager & the hostess. The waiter, however, was very nice, polite, & even excused himself for the situation - kudos to him.

Unfortunately, this experience left me with a bittersweet feeling about this location.

Game de hockey solo au bar un mardi. Vraiment une belle ambiance, le staff est sur la coche & les clients tellement sympathiques. Big up.

Always a fun atmosphere to go watch sports games with friends!

The waiter(Jacob) was really nice & had great recommendations for food options & really helped with a food intolerance worry!

Half-price wings, a pitcher of red beer, & a front-row seat to the game. Consider it my unofficial welcome-back-to-Quebec comfort my Belgium friend. Sometimes the soul just needs crispy wings & cold beer. #LaCage #Montreal

The food was flavorful, the atmosphere lively & fun, & the staff super friendly. Perfect spot for a casual night out or to catch a game with great company. Solid 10/10. I'll definitely be back!

Cocktails & atmosphere were great, but if you're looking to watch any sports it is only in French. Sorry but being from Alberta, this is a big downfall. Considering we made a reservation early to watch a western conference final game of the Stanley cup & they said they would play the sound & we only spoke English, they should have advised us it would be broadcasted only in French.

English speaking individuals should know this fact before attending any sporting event at this establishment.

Came to watch Stanley Cup playoffs . It was in French here. Very annoying when no French team in the playoffs. Everyone there probably speaks English yet they refuse to play it in English . Yet all other sports bars played the games in English

The host welcomes you with a big smile & offers you popcorn. The waiter was kind enough to change the TV channel so we could watch the Raptors game. The food was delicious: Salmon roti with smashed potatoes & vegetables. Well cooked, well seasoned, great fish portion. The atmosphere is really nice, the music they play in the background is very good. The screens are huge & there was hockey, basketball etc. The place was full. Recommend to make reservation. Thank you for staff that made our evening & experience really great. Definitely recommend this place & look forward to returning soon.

Good venue to watch a game but the food is really below par for such venues. Quality & preparation is substandard.

It's good play to watch games if you are interested. I would say there is a lot of noise there. We got sore throat because we were shouting to speak. They served free popcorns which is a great idea but it was too salty that night. I ordered Margarita pizza that was really great. I loved it. If you don't want to get there angrily don't go by your car. It took us 50 minutes to find a parking lot on Friday night. I usually don't drink alcohol so I can't give my opinion about it.

The burgers are always good here & the local beer is excellent. The service has well improved since my first visit a year back. The pop corn at the door is a very unique idea. I find this branch easily accessible & one thing I really like is that it has a lot of natural light from the big windows. A lot of screens & a huge one at the back so would definitely be a good choice to watch a hockey game!
