Review Summary

La Beignerie draws high praise for its all vegan donuts, described as fresh, fluffy and not too sweet, with a wide and creative range of flavors and fillings that make every bite feel made in house. Reviewers note large, satisfying donuts with soft dough and rich fillings, from creme brulee and passion fruit to biscoff, maple walnut, rhubarb with strawberry, and seasonal specials, with some saying the donuts can be a little pricey but worth it for the quality. The shop is regarded as welcoming and cozy, often with fast friendly service, and occasionally featuring extra offerings like ice cream, shakes or merch; some mention a cute patio and others point to accessibility issues or limited cash options. A few critiques include one or two flavors tasting overly sweet, some donuts arriving dry or not fully filled, and parking or value concerns, but the general consensus is that La Beignerie serves some of the best vegan donuts in Montreal, with many returning for favorites such as creme brulee, Boston creme and the unique seasonal options.

Without a doubt the worst doughnuts we've ever had. These are not worth the 5$ each we paid for. The dough was awful & gummy, more like a stale industrial bread. The fillings were just as bad. We got the creme brulee (which tasted like mold) & the rose pistachio (good icing but very artificial tasting filling). After looking up reviews we found out they were vegan, which explains the texture & taste a lot. If you're used to non-vegan traditional doughnuts, skip this place & go to literally any other doughnut spot instead.

One of THE BEST doughnut places in Montreal. My inlaws order all the time (they live closer than I do) & I'm always excited to try their new flavours

I don't know if the doughnuts I tried were old but I found them very dry & chewy. The flavors were very light. The carrot cake one was disappointing. No spice. The apple fritter was very stale & had no apple kick. The dominant flavor is sugar. I hate to say it, but I actually prefer Tim Hortons to this. Too expensive also.

Some of the most wondrous things in our world exist for only a day. Insects with wings of incredible complexity & colour, tears from a child whose desire for chocolate milk was left wanting, & of course doughnuts. Their very reason for being is temporary, for to gaze upon them for too long is to fall into a terrible trap of gluttony & self recrimination. No doughnuts we given to us by gods who also left us with the horror of free will. & your free will WILL be tested. Montreal has many fine, nay very fine shops of this sort, & this is one of them. The dough itself is as plump as a German stereotype & their glazes & icings sweeter than the sap from trees on gumdrop island. These are classic doughnuts with exciting finishes, my favourite kind. Indulge yourself, but be wary, as the gods are watching.

Having strolled past La Beignerie a few times, we finally stopped in for a snack, hoping for a little treat. We arrived an hour & a half before closing but were disappointed to find only a couple of doughnut choices left. It's hard to say if that's a sign of high demand or just poor planning on their part, but either way, it severely limited our options. We opted for a doughnut served with a twist: cut in half, with ice cream in the middle, whipped cream on top, & Oreo sprinkles. It looked delicious & was perfectly portioned for sharing. The ice cream was nice, & the whipped cream with Oreo was, of course, a fun addition. However, the doughnut itself was a letdown. It was so tough that even with two forks, cutting through it was a struggle. The texture was unexpectedly chewy, making the experience less enjoyable. While the concept was fun & the toppings were good, the doughnut itself just didn't hold up. Sadly, I'd give this place a pass next time.

Amazing go to doughnut shop in the area! They offer so much variety in doughnuts & so far every flavour I've tried hasn't disappointed. The matcha & blueberry fritter are top of my recommendations for people trying this place for the first time. The staff is lovely & they have a small patio to enjoy your food on. There's also merch you can buy here that are really cute! Definitely worth a trip if you're just passing through town or looking for a new spot in the city!

Decent donut flavors. Chewy (reminds me of the fried bread sticks you get either Chinese rice porridge). Easy to taste the oil in the doughnut

Nothing special here. The dough was dry & seemed like the doughnuts were old. Odd flavours. Would not recommend

Oh. My. God. I ate my chocolate-frosted doughnut & my strawberry-frosted doughnut, back to back. I don't think I've ever eaten two donuts in one day, much less than in one sitting! I actually saved the Boston cream style, which has a different name, & the Earl Grey one for later.they were day old by the time I ate them & still in good shape! For some reason, I didn't like them as much as I liked the less fancy ones. Can't wait to go back, repeat, the chocolate, the strawberry, & try the Matcha... Cuz, why not?

The atmosphere & service was great but the doughnuts don't live up to the hype. Doughnuts were cold & hard/chewy & I though the doughnuts are overly sweet. Also the price is outrageous for the food it should cost maybe 10- 15 dollars. Just get Tim's.

Delicious choice of doughnuts that are both classics & exclusively there. They're a bit pricier but definitely worth the cost.
