I'm leaving this review after my second time at Kif Kif & I promise I will be back. The food is exceptional. We were 4, ordered 8 dishes to split & a cocktail each. Everything was delicious! The hummus was creamy & perfectly seasoned, the muhammara (walnut pepper dip) naturally & wonderfully sweet, the falafel rich in flavour yet not too oily, the schnitzel perfectly cooked & just the right kind of crispy... The vibe of the restaurant is intimate & slightly chic without being overly over the top fancy. Just the right kind of place for a night out with friends, or a loved one. I'll definitely be back to re-order everything & try the rest of the menu.
Oh, & the pitas! O.M.G. Freshly baked in their stove oven, stretchy, aromatic, just incredible. Order an extra one, you won't regret it.
The food isn't cheap but it's worth it. You can taste quality in each & every dish. Also, you can find some parking on a street right behind the restaurant. I'm glad it's not in the Plateau - parking & accessibility is so much easier!
I had a great dinner at Kif Kif last night. The food was flavourful, fresh, & delicious. The service was excellent, & I enjoyed the space. We ordered a bunch of items, but the highlights were the hot, perfectly charred pita bread & the super creamy hummus. Falafel was crunchy, & tasty too. I'd like to go back & try more dishes. Thank you Kif Kif!
Good experience at Kifkif, could have been great.
The schnitzel, the grilled zucchinis, hummus & eggplant dips were really good. The salmon crudo was also super fresh & tasty.
We did feel like the service felt rushy sometimes. Taking out the plate right after we finished the last bite is not very pleasant. Why the rush, I would have loved to get another spoon of the green sauce!
The desserts were a miss because we did not have the full description : the chocolate terrine was actually chocolate & olive oil (bold combination but unfortunately not to our taste), the almond cake was actually almond & labneh (again not really to our taste).
The babka however was a great way to finish the night.
Amazing Middle Eastern cuisine, fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced spices, & very generous portions. The staff is kind & welcoming, which makes the experience even better. A wonderful restaurant in Montreal that deserves support & praise.
Overpriced, food was bland, & imagine having to pay 5$ for an extra pita! I've been to so many authentic middle eastern restaurants, they offer unlimited free fresh pita with the food! Cheap owners!
I was heavily anticipating a delicious meal & our entire party was not even close to being disappointed. In fact, Kif Kif was able to take us on a Mediterranean journey unique unto its own. From the moment we walked in & were greeted by Nadine (hostess) & Dan himself (chef who happened to be up front at the time) to the extremely courteous service of our sever Abby, the hospitality was perfect. Of course, the true highlight was the series of dishes we were treated to. The dips are a must (all three). Hummous was creamy & authentic, the Muhammara was a table favorite & the carried eggplant was out of this world. But what really tied it all together was the pastry like Pita bread that came out of an authentic Italian oven, piping hot & fresh & would literally melt in your mouth.
We then moved on to other divine sharing dishes like the ever so tender flank steak skewers, the signature chicken schnitzel & the raw salmon which makes any other ceviche look mundane & plain. The meal was also complemented with crunchy slaw, smashed potoes & a fantastic zucchini labneh side that popped.
Mission accomplished...everyone was stuffed, but you know what they say:'Everyone has room for dessert'. So we indulged & we went with Dan's suggestions. The table shared the chocolate Terrie with Halva, a milk pudding drizzled with the perfect amount of rose water, & a chocolate Babke which was the star of the show.
We rolled out of Kif Kif extremely satisfied needless to say & with the wine (& a cocktail) the bill seemed fair. Thank you again to Dan & his team. If you have not yet experienced this local wonder, you should make your rezzie now. We will be back 10000%.
The restaurant had a pleasant ambiance that made for a nice dining experience. The appetizers were delightful, bursting with flavor. However, the main courses were a bit disappointing; the chicken schnitzel was bland, & the rice lacked seasoning. On the plus side, the beef was perfectly tender, which was a highlight of the meal. It's worth mentioning that the pita bread was fresh, but be prepared to pay $5 for each pita
Things were done right at Kif Kif, & hopefully they'll keep these high standards for a long time. We ordered the moist & tender Spotty Pitas, Hummus, Muhammara, & Raw Salmon to start, followed by the whole Sea Bream & Tahdig as mains.
We loved the depth of tangy, smoky flavors that really define this chef's cooking, especially noticeable in the Muhammara, the fish sauce, & the Tahdig. The dish that truly stood out was the Raw Salmon: sashimi-style slices of fresh salmon prepared in a ceviche-like way. Outstanding!
For dessert, we had the Babka. It wasn't the traditional moist style we expected, but this version was still enjoyable.
The restaurant's design is also very interesting, filled with small framed photographs that tell a story. Service was professional & friendly.
All in all, a great accomplishment for a restaurant that opened only recently.
