Kazamaza centers its culinary identity on authentic Syrian and Lebanese traditions, emphasizing shared plates and bold, aromatic flavor profiles. The menu features a diverse selection of mezze, including smooth chickpea purées, smoky charred eggplant preparations, and vibrant herb-heavy salads. Grilled meat skewers serve as a cornerstone of the offerings, seasoned with regional spice blends and prepared over open flames. The interior design reflects an approachable, bustling atmosphere designed to accommodate social gatherings of various sizes. Fresh pita bread complements every dish, arriving warm and pillowy to facilitate traditional dipping techniques. This establishment maintains a focus on consistent execution of classic Middle Eastern recipes that prioritize quality ingredients. Diners find a straightforward presentation that highlights the complex textures and zesty lemon or garlic notes inherent in this specific regional cooking style.
KazaMaza is widely celebrated as a go-to destination for authentic, flavorful Middle Eastern cuisine in Montreal, offering a menu that excels in fresh ingredients and traditional recipes like lamb shanks, kefta karaz, and silky hummus. Many guests appreciate the warm, cozy atmosphere and the passion behind the food, noting that it provides excellent value for the quality and portions provided. While the majority of visitors leave highly satisfied and eager to return, some feedback points to challenges regarding noise levels in the compact dining area, occasional inconsistencies in service speed or attentiveness, and the necessity of booking in advance due to its popularity.
Kazamaza is one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants I've tried. The atmosphere is warm & cozy, making it a perfect spot to relax & enjoy a meal. The prices offer great value for the quality & portions you get. The mezzes are incredibly fresh & full of flavor, & the staff is exceptionally friendly & welcoming. Highly recommend!

The portions are so small, & the food itself is below average. The stuffed vine leaves tasted like they came straight out of a ready-made supermarket can. On top of that, the restaurant was incredibly hot inside, the air conditioning was either broken or turned down way too low. The lighting is very dim throughout. Even worse, the path to the restroom was unclean, poorly maintained, & so poorly lit that it was actually hard to see where you were going.
Très bon restaurant moyen Oriental. Il vaut mieux réserver pour profiter de la cuisine pleine de ☀?.
Toujours bruyant malgré l'installation de modulateurs au plafond (& de la clim!)
Potatoes under the Chicken were soaking in fat, not good. Batata was inconsistent, at the bottom very nice crispy & well done but on top wasn't cook enough & overall a bit cold. Meat balls were amazing & the rice as well very good. Hummus & tabouleh were also very good. Oh the pita could have been a bit warmed up, they were served in plastic bag, i would get the same at the store.
I want to share my recent experience while dining here as it left me feeling quite unsettled. Unfortunately, I experienced an allergic reaction during my visit & while I understand accidents can happen, the behaviour of the staff during this experience was shocking.
After initially informing a staff member of the situation, another server later came to our table & began arguing with my friend, stating it was not his fault & accusing us of not wanting to pay for the food. This added unnecessary stress to an already very scary situation & we stand by feeling it was extremely unfair to be charged for the full meal after only taking a few forkfuls before the reaction began.
Due to the response from the restaurant to my friend's earlier review on the 10th June 2026, I would like to add that we had asked to the food to be cleared, but the server responded with,'Well, it will just go in the bin otherwise if you don't take it,' which made us feel pressured to say yes at that time. We did not take any food back with us & my friend payed in full in order for us to leave & properly treat my reaction.
I would like to make it clear my concern isn't with the kitchen or the food itself, but with how the situation was handled. Being made to feel guilty & have to defend oneself while dealing with an allergic reaction is something no one should have to experience. I would encourage anyone with allergies to take extra care when deciding whether to dine here, & I genuinely hope the staff respond with more understanding in the future.
