I loved the cutlets for its crunch & flavor. However, for both times, the coleslaw was hard & tasted bland. St-Hubert coleslaw is way better. I would recommend getting dishes that don't have coleslaw. On the bright side, I loved the honey fries, crunchy & lightly powdered with the right amount of sugar~
Portions are super generous! Pork loin was surprisingly juicy. Even after reheating (takeout), it was not too dry. Pretty good if you're craving for katsu. Not the best, but not bad. Would recommend!
If you are looking for authentic Japanese tonkatsu in Montreal, Katsuya is one of the few places that actually gets the crust right. It is crispy & fluffy rather than being dense & hard, & most importantly, it isn't greasy at all. My only minor complaint is that the breading tends to fall off the meat quite easily. The pork itself is okay-not dry, but not particularly juicy either.
The service is very friendly, which makes up for the atmosphere. The interior is a bit dark & feels a little run-down, so it's not exactly'cozy,' but for the decent price point, it's worth it. I will definitely be coming back!
Food was delicious & filling, super comforting & warm. Love the pork tonkatsu with curry & rice. Very generous with the portion. Highly recommend, will return
Très bon. Portion enorme pour le prix. Jai ramener la moitier de mon repas a la maison pour le lendemain.
So delicious. Got the regular udon & it was filling. No pork in this one. They give out small soups as appetizers too, similar to a miso soup.
Parfait endroit pour manger du poulet katsu ! Nous avons adoré nos plats & le service était impeccable. On y sert aussi de la bière. Nous allons y retourner!
