Great crispy texture & juicy with a nice portion. The girl with glasses gave us also an excellent service! I'll be coming back for sure!
Freshly made katsu, perfectly crispy, great portions, what's not to love. Had to rose katsu the sauce was rich & spicy really enjoyed it!
Their fried chicken cutlets are all about thin skin, without that heavy, floury texture, making them incredibly refreshing. The chicken thigh skin is fried until it's paper-thin & crispy, & when you tear it open, the inside is bursting with juicy goodness. Paired with a touch of wasabi, it's simply divine!
The fried pork cutlet is their signature dish. It's ridiculously thick. The breading is incredibly crispy, while the meat inside is as tender & juicy as melting snow. Every bite is a satisfying crunch, & the cheese filling inside is so stretchy & delicious-a must-order!
The atmosphere was really nice. Since it was my first visit, I was a bit confused but the staff were friendly & explained everything well, which I really appreciated. The curry katsu & the japanese katsu were both crispy & delicious & they pair perfectly with the house lemonade. If you're looking for a Japanese style katsu restaurant, I think this place would be my number one. It also seems like the only truly authentic Japanese katsu spot in Montreal.
This is a great spot to visit whenever I'm craving Japanese-style pork cutlets. The outside is perfectly crispy, the meat is thick & juicy, & every bite is really satisfying. They also offer options like cheese katsu & Korean-style pork cutlets with sauce on top, so it's fun to choose based on what you're in the mood for. If you order the Japanese-style katsu, you can even grind your own sesame seeds & mix them into the sauce-just like in Japan. & paired with an Asahi Super Dry, which you can't skip when it comes to Japanese food… isn't that pretty much heaven? ^^
Great food, exactly was expected. I've never been to Japan but the Curry Katsu sauce was better than I imagined. The Takoyakis as an entry are a MUST. Crispy & beautiful presentation. Totally would go back
Katsuya offers a pleasant dining experience with friendly service & generous meal portions. The atmosphere is comfortable, & it's easy to enjoy a meal here without feeling rushed.
The Chicken Katsu with Curry Sauce was very flaky & light, with a satisfying crunch & a big portion. The curry sauce was typical Japanese-style curry. It is solid, though nothing extraordinary.
The Pork & Cheese Katsu with Rosée Sauce was crispy & light as well. The rosée sauce had a salty kick, & the combination with pork & cheese was unique & interesting. Definitely worth trying if you like creative twists.
The salad came with a smoky, light dressing that was surprisingly good. The takoyaki was crunchy, which is different from the usual soft, mushy style. The sweet sauce combined with the crunch felt a bit overwhelming after a while, but it's an interesting variation.
Overall, the katsu is excellent & the generous portions make it a satisfying meal. Highly recommend giving Katsuya a try for delicious katsu with some creative twists.
This is a Korean donkatsu chain restaurant. They offer a wide selection of katsu (pork cutlet) dishes, along with fusion-style combos such as tteokbokki, udon, & cold noodles. Every dish was really good-the coating was very crispy, & the meat was juicy. The rose tteokbokki with katsu was my favorite, & I'll definitely be going back!
The most authentic katsu restaurant you'll ever eat at. Sure the staff is mostly Korean, but they sure know their katsu. Super crispy & juicy inside. You go get a pretty good portion as well. The staff is super nice & helpful too.
had the fish cutlet & soba tonkatsu set at Katsuya. Among all the fish cutlets I've ever tried, this one is by far the best. The fish was thick, moist, & perfectly complemented by the crispy breadcrumbs-truly the ultimate fish cutlet experience.
The soba tonkatsu set came with slightly thinner cutlets than regular tonkatsu, which was a bit of a downside. However, it paired wonderfully with the refreshing cold noodles. If you're looking for a thicker, juicier cutlet, I recommend going for the Rosu Katsu set instead.
I definitely plan to visit again.
Absolutely delicious!! It was my first time trying this restaurant, I had chicken Japanese katsu was exquisite, the fried was perfectly done & crispy, delicious & fluffy rice, as well as warm soup. The place is really nice & well located. The service provided by Ciel was amazing.
If you're looking for a top-notch katsu place that's worth every penny, this is it - KATSUYA!!! From the moment you walk in, the service is welcoming & incredibly fast, without ever compromising on quality. The staff is friendly, attentive, & more than happy to answer any questions about the ingredients-full transparency, which is rare to find these days.
Now, the food-absolutely perfect every single time. The katsu is crispy, golden, & perfectly cooked, with a juicy & flavorful interior. Whether you go for the classic pork, chicken, or even a specialty option, every bite is a delight. The sides & sauces are just as impressive, elevating the meal to another level.
Consistency is key, & they nail it. Every visit feels like the first, with the same delicious flavors & high standards. If you're a katsu lover or even just looking for a great meal, this place is a must-visit. 5 stars, no hesitation!
PS: My go-to is either Rose Katsu (Fish) or Rose Udon (shrimp). You're welcome! ✌?😊
This the best Katsu I've ever had in my life. It's as good as the ones in Japan. Crispy & delicious af.
Really great spot, few steps away from the metro & super downtown location. Tried the snow cheese ball & they were so good, the takoyaki are breaded in their homemade panko so they're crispy & also super tasty. There are so many different options for the katsudon, personally loved the cheese one but all of them seemed worth of trying. Great service from the staff & really good price too, will come back to try more of it.
Good quality price ratio. However, nothing really stands out. The taste is very basic & bland. A bit more salt would have made the pork even better. The Katsu were all very crispy & tender. Overall, good food but could & have had better.
Good crispy katsu. You can get extra sauce but I don't think it's necessary. Katsu portions are large while rice portion is small. The chicken karaage included 3 types of sauce. The chicken is offered either as wings or boneless, but they only had boneless at the time. Be aware if you like cheese the Brick Cheese katsu includes a ton of cheese & my friend felt it can be a bit of a heavy meal but the cheese does stretch.
The portions are amazing. Best chicken katsu I've had outside of Japan. Incredibly crispy & flavourful.
The service is nice, the various katsu are crispy & tender on the inside, I wish that they come with more gravy, because only half of them are covered. But everything FIRE!! & we didn't know the offer for unlimited Rice & soup.
There's a complementary soup that goes with every meal. I got cheese balls as an appetizer, which are satisfyingly crispy with a melty center. They taste surprisingly sweet, & comes with a sauce that tastes like ketchup. The Japanese pork katsu was good. It is a good portion, with two cutlets, perfectly crispy. The sauce tastes like ketchup too. The service was good despite the restaurant being busy when we went. However, there is no air conditioner or fans, so it was extremely hot since it was so packed & it was about 30 degrees Celsius outside. I personally wouldn't go back for this reason.
The service was amazing, despite it being very busy we were served quickly & efficiently. Our waitress was kind & informative when we had questions. The menu was fine, had options of all sorts for different diets & it told you off the bat how spicy it was, if it was vegetarian or if it had pork etc & that was nice. The food itself wasn't great. The carbonara udon simply tasted like buldak noodles with add-ons & the katsu was crispy but nothing really special. The cheese balls were pretty good, but we didn't like the other chicken entee we got. My friends & I wouldn't go again, but we definitely didn't regret going as it was a nice experience to have
