I got the fish soup, extra spicy & green beans with white rice, 100% satisfied.
I'm no expert on the Canadian version of Chinese food so take that into account. The place is sparse & cold feeling. Cheap tables. You basically hear everything going on in the kitchen. Food was pretty bland & overly sweet for both of our meals. Lunch special was a decent price. Food was served very haphazardly. One soup. Then eventually another soup. Then one entree. Then a long wait. Then the second entree. Not very conducive to a nice lunch outing. Just alright. Nothing more.
I've known this place since its previous location on Clark street, this new location is very cool & spacious! The food is always a hit when I come here (they have the BEST poached fish in hot chili soup I've ever had). I've come here with groups (7-8) as well as just three people, & we've always been super satisfied. 100% would recommend!
Great food! Ordered the Sweet Sour Soup, 5/5, Dumplings in Peanut Sauce 4/5, Salt & Pepper Calmar 5/5, Singapour Noodles 5/5 & the Chow Fun in Black Bean Sauce 4.5/5. Our fresh from the Wok dishes were piping hot, with the perfect'Wok Hey'! We can see the kitchen while passing & the sound of the fire under the wok was music to my ears...The service is efficient, atmosphere agreable & the final tag very reasonable. We will be back assuredly & will try several other specialties....they looked delicious on other tables! Next time...
Great food! We tried the wonton soup, beef & rice noodles & fried chicken with bone with salt & pepper & rice 🍚 Service was friendly & fast!
Food was very good, better quality than several places I've been to. Good service, the general Tau chicken was a great big portion, not just 5 or 6 pieces with a pile of rice & the wonton soup was just what wonton soup should be. Yum! Good service, nice place, affordable.
Excellente soupe au poisson à l'huile chili - meilleure en ville!
Kan bei is THE BEST chinese restaurant I've been to in the one year that I've been living in Montreal. we ordered the chicken fried rice (#809) beef with satay sauce (#315) stir fried shrimps, spring roles & shrimp soup. All of them were absolutely delicious. Will definitely visit again. If you're looking for good portions, great prices, & a succulent chinese meal, Kan bei is the right place for you.
The Hot & Sour soup & the Mapo Tofu were beyond delicious. Extremely flavorful. The mapo felt like authentic shanghainese style. The dan dan noodles were also delicious but needed time to soak the sauce up.
Small restaurant but lots of space & large tables. Very clean. Service was fast, attentive & friendly, food is cooked to order & served quickly. We had the fried pork spare ribs, general Tsao chicken, baby bok Choy with garlic, shrimp fried rice & shrimp wonton soup. The soup was very nice, with a delicate broth & generous wonton & bok Choy. Both main meat dishes were amazing with lovely seasoning. The garlic bok Choy just went WOW it was that good. The rice was very nice & cooked to perfection.
