Kalbi Korean BBQ, grill and sushi all you can eat - Our concept its Paper grilling - the newest invention in Korean BBQ. Korean paper BBQ: Paper BBQ is an innovation in South Korean cuisine. The grill is covered with a special paper, absorbing the excess oil produced by the meat without losing its flavor and nutritional value. Hence, the food keeps its moisture and spices. The paper sheet is disposable, that helps to retain excess fat and cleanliness of the grill. This is a Elegant and comfortable decorate restaurant, and the dim light effect which makes the environment relaxing and perfect for a date, friends, group party (2 private rooms for 20 and 30 people) and families! Also we have the ventilation system for each table that exhausts the smoke from the grill, very enjoyable.
Reviewers describe Kalbi BBQ as a lively all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ in Montreal with a strong appeal for meat lovers and groups, thanks to the table grills, broad menu, and playful robot servers, and many praise the friendly service and vibrant atmosphere. The concept of ordering by phone and the overall value when fully utilized are frequent positives, with many noting the quality and variety of meats, sushi options, and other sides. However, several comments point to higher prices for certain items and the fact that some staples like lettuce, desserts, and some sides are not included in the all-you-can-eat, along with occasional menu changes and shortages. A number of reviews mention long waits on weekends or during peak hours and mention that the space can feel loud or smoky, with ventilation sometimes criticized. Some guests feel the experience leans toward fusion rather than authentic Korean BBQ and advise reservations to avoid lines, while many still say they would return for the fun, tasty food, and the sense of novelty the concept provides.
Cool robot servers, but the tables a bit too tight for them to be easy to access the trays. Food is fine for the price, but I wish the LA kalbi (beef short ribs) was seasoned more, as the kalbi sauce is closer to a gojujiang mixed down than a traditional marinade.
Either way, it's fine, & is what the locals probably expect from AYCE KBBQ.
We had a great experience at this all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. For about $100 for two adults & one child, the meal felt like very good value considering the variety & quality of food available.
We tried several types of sushi, & everything tasted fresh & well prepared. The BBQ chicken was also a nice surprise-flavorful & a good option if you want something different between sushi dishes.
The all-you-can-eat format makes the experience very satisfying because you can try many different items without worrying about ordering just one dish. Overall, it was a fun & filling dining experience in a lively Chinatown location, & it's a great spot if you want plenty of variety & fresh sushi. 🍣🥢
WE WERE A GROUP OF 7 & THEY AUTOMATICALLY ADDED A 15% TIP & 15% TAX TO THE BILL. THAT WOULD BE FINE IF THE SERVICE MATCHED IT - BUT IT ABSOLUTELY DID NOT.
THE SERVICE WAS EXTREMELY SLOW. AFTER ORDERING, WE WAITED AROUND 20 MINUTES JUST FOR SOMEONE TO COME BACK TO OUR TABLE. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT.
WE WERE GIVEN A 2-HOUR LIMIT, WHICH AGAIN WOULD BE UNDERSTANDABLE - BUT WHEN THERE WERE ABOUT 20 MINUTES LEFT, MY FRIEND ORDERED SUSHI & IT NEVER ARRIVED. NO EXPLANATION. NO APOLOGY. NOTHING.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHARGE A 30% AUTOMATIC GRATUITY, THE SERVICE SHOULD BE EXCELLENT. THIS WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE.
VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR GROUP DINNERS.
I've been to Kalbi many times in the past & loved my experience every time.
Yesterday, I went back for the first time in a while & we noticed a few changes, mainly in the menu. I was very disappointed to see that they charge you extra for a few pieces of lettuce & ice cream?? I feel like those are things that should always be included… Saddest part is that we ordered Mango jelly & caramel flan just to find out that they were out of them so we didn't even get any good desserts. Not sure if it's really a big deal, but we made a reservation for 8pm & had to wait over 20 mins before getting a table (we were there on time & a lot of people were also waiting in line)
We went on a Saturday night. It was $44 per adult & $29 per kid.
Unfortunately, many items were unavailable or required an extra charge, especially in the dessert section. That said, the food overall was unimpressive for the price.
The experience is quite basic, good for those who are new to Korean BBQ & don't know too well. For a similar price, places like Gyubee are way better in terms of quality & variety.
Reservation is required if you don't have to wait over an hour. They charge 15% for groups of 5 people & more.
