We had an incredible experience at Jun I. The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, & full of flavor. You can really tell the quality is top-notch. Although a bit expensive, the portions & the quality of the food makes up for the price. Their omakase comes with 3 appetisers, 15 pieces of sushi & a dessert for around 120$. The pieces of sushi were quite big & the cut of fishes were quite generous. I especially liked their Funny Maki because there was a great contrast in the temperature which made it so unique & delicious. I was surprised because I usually don't like fried sushi that much. As for the appetisers, I feel like the first two dishes were a bit too sour which overwhelmed the flavours of the ingredients but their octopus appetiser had a great balance of sweetness & saltiness which made it so wonderful. The quality of the ingredients is amazing, each slices were really fresh & I especially enioyed the fresh scallop sushi which had a great seafood sweetness to it. The service was superb. The waiters & waitresses were all extremely patient & professional, taking the time to explain each dish while they were serving it to the table. Even though the place was quite fancy with the minimalistic interior decors, I feel like the semi casual atmosphere fits the place extremely well & it was pretty easy to talk at our table until later at night when the restaurant was more crowded, I felt like we had to shout a bit to be heard.View more

Went to Jun I with high expectations. Overall, it was a good experience, though not outstanding considering the premium pricing.
The sushi quality is excellent, with fresh, tasty, & fatty cuts of fish-definitely among the better sushi spots in Montreal. My personal highlight was the curry sushi, which stood out as particularly delicious.
However, service was friendly but slow & somewhat disorganized. Our group of six ended up staying for almost three hours, partly due to long wait times between courses. Some dishes arrived unevenly, leaving some of us without food for extended periods.
Desserts were enjoyable, but nothing exceptional.
One notable issue was the soy sauce, which our entire group found overly salty & concentrated. It detracted somewhat from the sushi's delicate flavors.
Despite these points, Jun I is still a solid choice for a high-end sushi dinner with friends, just adjust your expectations accordingly.View more

For the price tag on this place, it does not meet expectations. The sushi is good but nothing out of this world. Me & my friend ordered the 15 piece set which was 75$ per person. We first got 4 pieces out of the 15 then got the rest like 40 minutes later. All pieces were on the same platter & even though we ordered different additional pieces, they were placed all together & served to us as if we were sharing everything although we never told them we were sharing & we ordered separately. When asking for the bill, we weren't asked if we wanted it separate or one bill & just gave us one bill. The cocktails were good. The sushi is good but for the price you are paying, it's not worth it & you can get better quality sushi experience elsewhere for the same price.View more

First time at the restaurant for me & my friend , have to say it did not meet expectations. We each got the 15 piece special & it took about 1.5 hours to arrive, the plates didn't arrive together & we were confused as to the sequence of the services. The ambiance was not as expected. Decor was too simple. The quality was good though. At the end the waiter gave us a joint bill, never asked if we wanted to pay separately. Definitely prefer RYU since their pricing is similar.View more

My third or 4th time there but this time was after a long time . I always had amazing food there that excited my taste buds but I find the quality has degraded . It gave me a blah feeling . Was not impressed with the food this time. Did not give me the feeling of wanting to go back or bringing friends there . Probably will try other places before I go back again .View more

Top sushi for quality & freshness. Definitely get a variety sashimi. The miso soup has such deep & delicious flavours. They also offer a wide variety of rolls. The one thing I wish this restaurant had was sushi made at & served at the bar, like true omakase style.View more

via LibroThe we worst sushi ever. I ve been to this restaurant few years ago, itcwas an amazing experience. But yesterday i was really disappointed & sad. Paying more than 100 $ for a mediocre food & sushi. It was very amateurish. I will ever go again to this restaurant instead i ll learn how to make my own sushi since am used to buy a very high quality of fish. Why bother to throw away my money on a such bad experience. It's a total scam. Mistake a client with the poor food but very expensive one. Not to mention long service.

For those who love sushi, the sushi is exceptional quality. Each bite was a delight. Felt like dancing as the flavors of the sea penetrated my senses. Unfortunately, the service was almost painful. I shared with the waiter that it was my friend's birthday. The waiter was sadly unatentive & cold. It is a tiny restaurant. Yet, we had to ask several times for simple items like Wasabi & a soda. We were not asked about next drinks, water wasn't poured when finished, etc. The creativity & quality of the food we received (chose the 70$ chefs choice) was underwhelming & we expected more from this restaurant relative to what we've heard about it. We were greeted very well, but once seated it felt like we were an inconvenience or an after thought. Our waiter did not provide any context or history about the restaurant & as it was our first time, we thought that might come up, but there was never the opportunity to converse about it. Unfortunately not a great first experience. The martini was excellent however !

Loved this restaurant. My husband & I each took the tasting menu. At first I was hesitant because the first 4 services are served in one plate/bowl for us to share. Quality & taste was good though. Sushi is excellent. Dessert too. We reserved seats at the bar thinking we'd be able to see the chefs prepare (open kitchen) but there is none if that.View more

I’m not a person that ever leaves reviews but JunI was so spectacular I simply had to. Very friendly & attentive waitstaff that know what they’re talking about when asked about the products. They deliver each item with an entire description & breakdown so you’re not left guessing. Highest quality fish & drinks. The chef himself personally comes out to every table to ensure they had a quality experience & to ask about the night. 10/10 spot.
