The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, & full of flavor. You can really tell the quality is top-notch. The staff was warm, friendly, & attentive without being overbearing. Everything from start to finish was on point. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience in Montreal!View more
Although a bit expensive, the portions & the quality of the food makes up for the price. Their omakase comes with 3 appetisers, 15 pieces of sushi & a dessert for around 120$. The pieces of sushi were quite big & the cut of fishes were quite generous. I especially liked their Funny Maki because there was a great contrast in the temperature which made it so unique & delicious. I was surprised because I usually don't like fried sushi that much. As for the appetisers, I feel like the first two dishes were a bit too sour which overwhelmed the flavours of the ingredients but their octopus appetiser had a great balance of sweetness & saltiness which made it so wonderful. The quality of the ingredients is amazing, each slices were really fresh & I especially enioyed the fresh scallop sushi which had a great seafood sweetness to it. The service was superb. The waiters & waitresses were all extremely patient & professional, taking the time to explain each dish while they were serving it to the table. Even though the place was quite fancy with the minimalistic interior decors, I feel like the semi casual atmosphere fits the place extremely well & it was pretty easy to talk at our table until later at night when the restaurant was more crowded, I felt like we had to shout a bit to be heard.View more
Went to Jun I with high expectations. Overall, it was a good experience, though not outstanding considering the premium pricing.
The sushi quality is excellent, with fresh, tasty, & fatty cuts of fish-definitely among the better sushi spots in Montreal. My personal highlight was the curry sushi, which stood out as particularly delicious.
However, service was friendly but slow & somewhat disorganized. Our group of six ended up staying for almost three hours, partly due to long wait times between courses. Some dishes arrived unevenly, leaving some of us without food for extended periods.
Desserts were enjoyable, but nothing exceptional.
One notable issue was the soy sauce, which our entire group found overly salty & concentrated. It detracted somewhat from the sushi's delicate flavors.
Despite these points, Jun I is still a solid choice for a high-end sushi dinner with friends, just adjust your expectations accordingly.View more
I personally found the Kani Age Épicé a little too salty & didn't need the extra sauce. The uni (sea urchin) was a little too overpowered by the rice but it was still fresh overall. The dancing unagi roll was superb as well.
However, the following two were the stars of this night for me. We ordered hamachi sashimi. This was as good as it can get for the city amongst all the other sushi options we have. 😊 Sitting along side the Hamachi was the Maguro Taru-Taru which we ordered as an appetizer. We collectively agreed that it was our favourite dish of the night!View more
We had a wonderful time, the food was fresh & tasty while the service was extremely quick. The servers were very nice as well. Highly recommend.View more
The fish is fresh & good quality, but it's really about their unique rolls. They also do traditional roll combos as hand rolls.View more

We had a delicious & fun mean at Jun I. We loved the service, & the fish was very fresh. It was billed as the best omakase in Montreal &, while great, it is not. The hot & cold dishes were ok, but stand out. The sushi & sashimi were great but the maki roll we got was ok. Recommend trying it & loving it when you have the right expectations.View more

Excellent sushi place. They have a small, but meaningful menu. The restaurant is very lively & inviting. We had dinner on a Wed, starting at open, & by 7 pm, all the tables were full. Three primary things on the menu: - "omakase" (in quotes because it is table-side, not traditional, bar-side, one-bite at a time). Includes 4 hot dishes, & 15 nigiri, maki, sashimi, - only the 15 raw-fish option, - a-la-carte. We opted for the 15 raw-fish option "omakase" with a couple of add-ons. The candied salmon trout was amazing. Sushi were fresh & tasty, albeit no premium pieces (CAD 75 for 15 pieces is quite generous, & hard to get premium pieces), Service was fantastic. Recommend.View more
Eating here is an experience over time, exploring your taste buds with a huge variety of sushi & other dishes with super fresh ingredients both local & from Japan. Each had a beautiful delicate balance of flavour, & the presentation was spectacular. The pace of dishes was perfect, leaving you with time to savour everything. Incredible sake choices that balance out the meal as well.Every dish was raved about at our table of 4. Service was top notch; you can see the staff are very well trained & attentive. Chef Juni is very personable & so creative.View more
Diner was absolutely delicious ! You can tell the fish is super fresh & you get your money's worth. Loved the waiters & their attention to details (never had to ask for anything). Good music & happy to see options of tasty non-alcoholic drinks as well. Overall great experience, will come back FOR SURE !!View more
We had the best experience, service was above & beyond, the fish was buttery & so incredibly fresh (we had the sushi moriawase). The matcha dessert was a winner, as well. We can't wait to come back. Deserves all the hype & more.View more
One of the best restaurants in the city! Junisan is the Master ! Quality , professional , fresh , & don't forget the saki!!!! Must try!
Food was good, sashimi was fresh, rolls were average, the service was good & fast. Only disappointment since booked sushi bar online booking. This was not available & I would have appreciated a courtesy call to let me know, would have asked for a table.
Love this place. Sushi is always fresh & drinks are great. Service is quite good & personable.

Staff was super. Food fresh & a great wine list. Thank you. Will be back for sure.
Sushi moriawase was not fresh. The sashimi pieces were dry & unpalatable. Quite disappointed. I expected better for the price. The maki roll, however, was good.
Divine. Omakase dishes are creative & delicious; sushi & sashimi are fresh & sweet. Service is warm & professional. (Merci encore, Charles.) In New York, this menu would cost easily three times as much.
I would never visit Montreal wiithout making a reservation here first.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary there. The best sushi I've had in Montréal, the Omakase menu was incredible: fresh, fun, & delicious. Every dish is beautifully presented. Definitely worth a visit! Lastly the service was the best I've had in a restaurant since covid. Definitely recommending the restaurant to friends. :)
Absolutely delicious. This is what sushi really tastes like. So deserving of his top 100 best restos in Canada. Every bite was exquisite. So fresh. So superior. Our fav restaurant in Canada!
The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely & the sushi was exceptional. The style of sushi is very simple with focus on fresh ingredients.
The only reason I did not give a 5 star review is because we showed up 10 minutes early for our reservation & there were 3-4 free tables. The hostess tried to seat us at the worst table & when I asked for another one, she said the others weren't ready yet. When I said we would just wait she seemed shocked. She came back 2 minutes later & sat us at one of the better tables. It was extremely weird & unnecessary!
The experience was smooth sailing after that with great service from our waiter, delicious sushi & lovely drinks.
Each dish was fresh & flavourful. The portions were also very generous. Easily the best sushi restaurant in Montreal & would highly recommend to any foodie.
