nice vibes but taste was not for me :(
like look at the fries!! there was another review just a few months ago that said the fries were amazing & the picture did look amazing but the fries we got were NOT that like they look so so so sad srsly.
nothing rly wowed me but best dishes for me were the duck breast & the marjolaine!
From Ontario. We dine a lot at High end & Not your average restaurants. We also work at a high end steakhouse where we live
Came here based on recommendation. Don't know why it was so highly recommended. Place was clean & packed. Just confused as to why.
First. Hostess was sweet. So thank you for that.
Menu was alright.. was looking forward to the rib eye. Honestly. That was basic. Don't know if there's salt or seasoning anywhere in that building.
The crab feature... not good.
Bone marrow, boring.
Birthday was never recognized even though it was mentioned in the reservation.
Now, the waiter... julien, I hope you tip out your food runners & bussers considerably because they deserve it more than you. You were arrogant & need a lesson on being a server. Your shirt was just as lame as your attitude.
Good food good service . Relaxed comfortable setting. Highly recommend.
Ate here October 2024. The quality of the food matched it's incredible ambiance & service. Whatever you have heard about this resturaunt, its even better than that.
They should have at least one Michelin star. Will visit again. W pulls recommend for anyone visiting Montreal.
Amazing food & staff! Could not recommend more highly. Everyone who visits Montreal should dine here at least once!
Let's get straight to the point: the famous lobster spaghetti here is above average & definitely not worth the wait. At an eye-watering price tag of $71++, it's asking to be judged against the best pastas in the world & that's what I'm judging it by.
First, you only get half a lobster. That's not a lot meat but they do somewhat make it up with the generous amount of spaghetti. The noodles themselves are good, but they are let down by the sauce, which is too salty. The lobster is supposed to be the star of the show but you don't taste any of it in the sauce. Half a lobster is also not proportionate to the amount of spaghetti so it doesn't feel like a satisfying meal.
Drinks here are good creative though, so I would recommend them. I got a peach mock tail & it's rare to find mocktails that have more complexity than juice.
This is a Montreal institution & it's worth going just to check out the place, but manage your expectations if you get the lobster spaghetti.
Mon avis: fortement apprécié par les touristes en tant qu'institution, moins par les locaux. (D'où les avis positif qui semblent exagérés)
Avis d'une locale: la quantité vs le prix est à revoir. Le bone in strip était excellent.
What an amazing EVENT to eat here at a true Montreal institution, Joe Beef. The hype is true & definitely real. The food was absolutely amazing! The service, exemplary!
So much to say about this place, & of course the food lived up to the expectation but for our family the huge difference was the service. These people are well trained, knowledgeable & engaging. A true example of'come for the food, come back for the people'
What was planned as just a nice date dinner turned into a 5 hour amazing experience. Mostly due to our server Florent who was funny, helpful, patient, & friendly. Such a wonderful experience.
Had an absolutely delicious meal at Joe Beef! The duck was incredible - so flavorful & tender. I'm already looking forward to coming back for another piece. Highly recommend! 🦆🍷
Food definitely underdelivered. Was going to order more as I went but just gave up after a few misses in a row. Service was amazing & vibe was very chill. Just wish the food was seasoned well, cooked properly, & just idk better for what I am paying. Had the veal tongue & sweetbread entree with a tomato sauce that literally tasted & smelled exactly like a cold can of tomato soup had been poured on my plate. Totally gross.
Theis is great place to experience French cuisine. It has lots of simple dishes focusing on flavour & butter. Lots of butter! Definitely a treat your self experience where you can indulge. Good place for special occasions with mates or partners. A must if you wanna do fancy dinner in Montreal. Just be prepared to spend a little more. But worth it for food connoisseurs.
It's 12/10. Fantastic all the way around. Sometimes these spots can be so overhyped it's hard to meet expectations yet they exceeded them. Vibey, great food & service.
All the staff was top notch from hostess who put us at the perfect for our baby & her stroller, to the busboy, & the waiter.
The duck was insanely delicious, could drink the sauce & the lobster spaghetti is a must. Feels like you can't go wrong with anything you're feeling.
Don't let the name fool you, it's known for their seafood even though it's named after Charles McKiernan'Joe Beef.'
