As always the food here is amazing, with the raw seafood appetizer offering & lobster spaghetti as must orders. The Tuna Bagnat was boooomb!
What a great restaurant. The service was impeccable without being stuffy. The food is amazing - honesty one of the best meals I've had at this price point. The table side beef tartare was a standout, & the lobster spaghetti is something I hope I get to eat again. Our waiter provided a perfect wine recommendation that paired nicely with both. Glad that the hype is deserved.
Great service, some of the best waiters I've ever encountered! The atmosphere is nice & cozy & the food is overall good (we had beef tartare, lobster spaghetti, filet mignon & duck breast). Overall, this restaurant is extremely overpriced (440 dollars in 3 people plus a kid who only got french fries) & at the end of the day it's not worth the wait & the money. The filet mignon was good, but not better than other places & that alone costed 95 dollars. I won't come back.
Unreal spot, the lobster 🦞 pasta was out of this world delicious! Great staff & vibes. Highly recommend! Best meal in Montreal
Worth the hype completely. Food & service are incredible. Lobster pasta, steak, & foie gras are all insanely decadent but not doing it is a miss
All around an excellent experience. The mains & desserts are incredible especially the lobster bisque spaghetti & steak, but some of the appetizers could be better. Specifically the raw tuna tarte was a little underwhelming, the french omelette with lobster was incredible!
When Antony Bourdain visited Montreal, Joe Beef was his favorite restaurant. But then again, Tony loved meat. We don't eat meat & poultry or lobster, & our dinner experience was good, but not great; I'm sure that the meat dishes here are great. We tried the oysters, 3 different kinds, they were very good (4/5). The Raw Tuna, Tomato Tart "Basquaise" was good (3/5), but too many flavors overpowered the taste of the tuna. The Egg in a Jar, Trout Roe, Celery & Dulse Butter Brioche was ok, but weird, & not too flavorful (2/5). The fries were good, but a bit bitter (3/5). The best dish was the Halibut, Colbert Vinaigrette, very well cooked & very flavorful (4/5). Finally, the Boston & Gems salad with Mimolette was good, the plating was not (3/5). Service was very good (4/5). Overall, 3/5.
Best dinner in all of Montreal!!!! The service & server were amazing & then there was the food! Highly recommend coming here! We ordered the Foie Gras, Hanger Steak, & Lobster Spaghetti. Such a great experience!!!
The hype is real. I got hammered & ate Steak & lobster & oysters. Servers were all cuties. What more could you want?
As an admirer of Anthony Bourdain, I couldn't miss the chance to dine at Joe Beef during my Montreal visit, & it truly lived up to its reputation. The staff was exceptionally kind & professional, making me feel incredibly welcome as a solo diner, even amidst the bustling atmosphere. The culinary offerings were nothing short of outstanding, with each ingredient carefully curated to perfection. The lobster spaghetti & the layer cake stood out as absolute must-tries. Worth every bite & fairly reasonably priced, the dining experience at Joe Beef is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail that makes every dish shine.
Another bucket list restaurant. Was seated at the bar which was great. The staff were friendly & took great care of me. Offering recommendations both for the menu & places to go in Montreal. The food was LEGENDAIRE! The clams on the radio were delicious & thoroughly enjoyed the lobster spaghetti. The dessert was fantastic as well. Well worth the wait. Thanks for a great night.
One of my best dinners. The beef & lobster spaghetti were great, but from what I saw, anything on the menu would be fantastic!
Way too expensive for the taste & quality of food. Just because you're paying a lot, does not mean that it's good. We ordered: The raw scallops (I enjoyed this dish) Dry Sausage (4 little slices, with some pickled dishes strewn about, with very little flavor) Lobster Spaghetti (Best dish of the night & would recommend - but for $71 CAD...getting three little pieces of lobster makes it hard to really justify & say that it's a great deal) USDA Filet Mignon (peppercorn sauce wasn't really all that flavorful, & the bleu cheese crumbles were served on I believe a celery stalk) - $90 CAD Sauteed Mushrooms (dry & somewhat tasteless...was really expecting something more especially after the water talked these up significantly) The food is fine, I guess, just not at the price point offered. I was expecting to be blown away by the food here but it was just kind of...mediocre. I spend nearly $400 CAD for a dinner for 2 that left us both not really that impressed. There are better places in Montreal that have a lot more flavor & are unexpectedly great more than Joe Beef's is. The waiter is also oddly pushy about ordering dishes to the point of near discomfort, & reading other reviews here saying the same it's a bit concerning & seems like they're more interested in pushing out food rather than good food.
Service is top notch at this place. All the staff greeted us & also said goodbye. Out plates were constantly switched & our cups filled with water . The food was very good. We ordered the duck for two, ribeye for two, spaghetti with lobster, shrimp cocktail & escargot. It's an experience. The restaurant was full on a heavy rainy day.
2nd visit at Joe Beef, & just as satisfying as the 1st! 2e visite, & toujours aussi satisfaits! We were 4 people & decided to order everything to share, which is a great way to try different things. The seafood tower was huge & tasty, the foie gras spread was great, & the mains, filet mignon & lobster pasta were also delicious. Dessert weren't fantastic though; nothing bad but nothing worth noting either. I would skip them if I were to repeat soon again...
Excellent, attentive, friendly waitstaff. The lobster spaghetti & layer cake were amazing.
Delicious experience last night at JB's. The early evening rez seating at the bar was perfect to take in the vibe...starting with our very sociable, knowledgeable bartender Thalia, who provided insight into the menu options. We started w the escargot & the artichoke salad special...followed by the JB signature spaghetti lobster & filet special...all superbly done & paired perfectly w a Monterey coast pinot noit...ending w the lemon sorbet.. magnifique! We will definetely return & request same seating arrangement to catchup w our fave Montreal bartender= Thalia!
We dined here yesterday after having reserved a few weeks to a month in advance &... wow. The hype is real. The tuna tartare was a nice fresh start. We then transitioned into the lamb shoulder & lobster spaghetti which we shared. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The sauce & elements on the plate all blended in so well together. It had a faint but pleasant horseradish / dijon taste to it which was very nice & the lobster spaghetti was creamy & delicious. Lobster often gets lost / overpowered in pasta dishes with ingredients like tomatoes but this was not the case here. The lobster was the star of the dish on a bed of creamy spaghetti that included pancetta & chives. It was simply exquisite. Kudos to the kitchen & staff as they didn't miss a pulse all night. It was a great & memorable meal. I would highly recommend.
Excellent dining experience. From flawless service to great execution on seemingly simple dishes, everything was high quality. Steak tartare was prepared at the table & was one of the best I have ever had. Lobster spaghetti is also highly recommended. Mussels & oysters were the highlight of the small cold platter.
Wow! We've been dreaming of eating at Joe Beef since watching an old episode of Anthony Bourdain. The staff was very careful with our friend's food allergy & advised what each menus item consisted of & asked the kitchen to be mindful during preparation. We shared the large seafood platter, beef tartare plus a round of cocktails. Then for the mains the 4 of us shared the Lobster Spaghetti & Suckling Pig. I love a restaurant that knows their food is for sharing!! Exceptional guidance by our server, he suggested so many great options. We also loved how attentive the entire staff was with refilling water glasses & bringing out extra dishes for shells or whatnot. Oh the desserts were wonderful! We all loved the lemon sorbet & 24 Layer Cake. Divine!
