I loved the vibe. Not only is the meat delicious, as the name would indicate, but so is the sea food. It was a great surprise! They have no tasting menu, but will make you discover their menu & best meals of the moment if you ask. We were advised to take a good bottle of red & weren't disappointed at all. I had a great time there & I highly recommend the place.

We visited this gem of a restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday, & from the moment we walked in, it felt like we had stepped into a perfectly orchestrated dream. The ambiance struck that rare balance between elegant & inviting - softly lit, warm, & full of quiet, happy energy.
Now, let's talk about the service - hands down, the best I've ever experienced. Every single member of the team seemed to move in perfect harmony, as if they shared one mind with the goal of making our night flawless. Whether it was someone gracefully refilling our water as they passed, or another gently clearing plates with a smile & a kind word, the teamwork was seamless & a joy to watch.
Our main server, Alex, was an absolute star. He took all the pressure off our decision-making & curated a stunning four-course meal that flowed beautifully from one dish to the next - cohesive, balanced, & beyond delicious. The other Alex (yes, two Alexes!) was equally wonderful - attentive, charming, & meticulous, ensuring our table was pristine between courses & our glasses of water never empty.
& the food… oh, the food! Every plate felt like a small celebration in itself. The croquettes were crisp & creamy perfection, the tuna tartare delicate & full of bright flavor, & the lobster spaghetti? A masterpiece - rich, tender, & the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. Every cocktail - including my mocktail - was crafted with care & creativity, each one divine in its own right.
It was the kind of dinner you don't just eat, but feel - wrapped in kindness, thoughtfulness, & genuine hospitality.
Highly, highly recommend this place. Five shining stars & a standing ovation to the entire team. We can't wait to go back & relive the magic.

We were 2 midweek for an early dinner. Reservations still recommended. Trio of oysters starter were good but PEI Oysters were larger & tastier. My main was hanger steak. A little chewy but wonderful flavour & red wine reduction sauce. Other main was filet mignon - very tender with umami-infused sauce. Excellent. Mushroom side dish a great addition. Main server was friendly & knowledgeable-'sous' servers all attentive too. Wine order was a little slow coming but good choices. Cheese course with whole walnuts in the shell was an amusing DIY finale. Highly recommended.
After a lifetime of wanting to try this restaurant, it did not disappoint. We came in open to trying everything, & our amazing waitress, Thalia, took the wheel. She selected every course to truly represent the restaurant, its vibe, & the depth of the cuisine - & she nailed it. I highly recommend dining here, requesting to sit in her section, & trusting her recommendations. Phenomenal experience. Thank you, Thalia!
Amazing service - we made a mistake when making our reservation & placed a reservation for the wrong day, totally our fault however they still managed to squeeze us in at the bar.
The service was exceptional, very friendly & attentive. Excellent work translating lions mane mushrooms from french as well, very impressive. We had the hanger steak for 2 which was delicious.
I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Montreal.
WOW I loved Joe Beef so much we had an amazing experience with our server Alex who was so knowledgeable about everything & SO kind to us as we were celebrating our anniversary.
The hanger steak for two was literally the perfect amount of food, the sauces accompanying the meat were to die for, mashed potatoes perfect, I really enjoyed the creamed spinach as well.
The chocolate mousse was to die for, it was a slightly firm mousse dome with I think a chocolate ganache drizzle on top & they served it with this delicious reduction that was garnished with a tiny bit of olive oil & wow - just amazing.

Perhaps the best meal I have ever had. Our server Julian was excellent, extremely friendly & outgoing, a shining example of excellent customer service. Highly, highly recommend going here if you're in Montreal & looking for a great meal.

Came here based on recommendation. Don't know why it was so highly recommended. Place was clean & packed. Just confused as to why.
First. Hostess was sweet. So thank you for that.
Menu was alright.. was looking forward to the rib eye. Honestly. That was basic. Don't know if there's salt or seasoning anywhere in that building.
The crab feature... not good.
Bone marrow, boring.
Birthday was never recognized even though it was mentioned in the reservation.
Now, the waiter... julien, I hope you tip out your food runners & bussers considerably because they deserve it more than you. You were arrogant & need a lesson on being a server. Your shirt was just as lame as your attitude.

We celebrated my husband's birthday here & had an amazing experience.
The service was outstanding - our waiter was incredibly attentive, explaining the menu & daily specials in detail, & helping us choose the perfect wine.
We started with the croquettes, then had the rib eye with carrots as our main dish - everything was delicious. We found it funny that, for my husband's birthday, they placed a candle on a potato instead of a dessert 🤭 - such a quirky & memorable touch!
For dessert, we ordereded - apparently their house specialty. It was worth it.
Total including tip & 4 glass of wine was close to $400.
All in all, one of the best dinners we've ever had in Montreal. Highly recommended!

The service was exceptional-attentive, knowledgeable, & friendly, making us feel right at home despite it being a busy night.
The menu is a perfect blend of creativity & classic comfort, with every dish bursting with bold flavors. We started with a selection of appetizers, & each one was a standout. The foie gras was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, & the oysters were fresh & briny-an excellent start to what would be an amazing meal.
For the main course, I had the steak frites, which was cooked to perfection-tender, juicy, & full of flavor. The sides were equally impressive, with the roasted vegetables being a particular highlight. Everything was beautifully presented, & the portions were generous, making each bite more enjoyable than the last.
The wine list is extensive, & the sommelier's recommendation perfectly paired with our meal, elevating the whole experience.

Our dinner at Joe Beef was the highlight of our four-night trip to Montreal (& we thoroughly enjoyed all our other meals, too!). This iconic restaurant more than lives up to its reputation, & we wanted to share our wonderful experience.
The food was superb, & the service was exceptional. The entire staff struck the perfect balance-organic, approachable, & friendly, yet effortlessly delivering flawless, attentive service. Their creativity, authenticity, & genuinely local vibe added a unique charm to the evening, making it feel elevated & down-to-earth.
While Joe Beef isn't a budget-friendly option, every dollar spent felt worth it. The quality, atmosphere, & attention to detail made for an unforgettable experience. We ordered what I believe was their signature steak with mushrooms (the name escapes me), a deliciously fresh salad, & a classic shrimp cocktail-all perfectly prepared & full of flavor.
We can't recommend Joe Beef highly enough if you're visiting Montreal. It's a true culinary gem & an experience you'll remember long after your trip!
My spouse & I had Joe Beef on our bucket list for quite some time, & we finally decided to make it the setting for our recent date night. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by friendly & attentive staff, immediately setting a positive tone for the evening. It was clear that attention to detail is a priority here; despite not mentioning any food allergies when booking our reservation online, the waiter took the time to confirm that we had no allergies or aversions before we ordered. This small gesture really showed the care they put into their service. We began our meal with the beef tartare, & I can confidently say it was one of the freshest preparations we've ever had. The quality of the ingredients was evident from the start. The beef had clearly been freshly ground, & our server delightfully mixed all the components right at the table, elevating the experience. For our mains, my spouse opted for the Cornish hen, while I went for the leg of lamb. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic, cooked to perfection with flavors that truly stood out. The Cornish hen was tender & juicy, while the leg of lamb melted in my mouth with its rich, savory notes. We also ordered a side of French fries, which were perfectly crisp & golden, & a side of sourdough bread, which was a must for soaking up all the sumptuous sauce from our main dishes. The ambiance was just as impressive as the food. Unlike many fine dining establishments, which can sometimes feel overly formal or cold, the atmosphere here was warm & inviting. The décor, lighting, & music created a cozy yet sophisticated setting that made our evening feel special. It's an ideal spot for a date night or for sharing a memorable meal with friends or clients. One thing to note is that the menu isn't available online, but there is a wide variety of options to choose from once you're there, ranging from seafood to poultry & steaks. There's truly something to suit everyone's tastes. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with both the quality of the food & the exceptional service. Joe Beef exceeded our expectations & delivered a dining experience we won't soon forget. Highly recommended!
