I've been wanting to come to this place for a long time. This is very good french cuisine. I got the Double down, the Demi-douzaine escargot, the Lobster spaghetti, & the Filet de Boeuf(filet mignon) & followed with Marjolaine layer cake.
Dammmmm!
Everything was so good, decadent, & masterfully presented. Our server Julian perfectly knew every dish like he makes it himself & steered us through the menu which could be challenging to understand coming from English speak lol. This place is legit!!
Be forwarned though, I don't think they ask your temperature preference for steak. This don't bother me because I'm a vampire lol but this means the chef wants me to have it this way. I can respect that. No problem here.
All in all, service was incredible. Lots of fun, great vibes, friendly fellow patrons, great food, I will be returning!
What an incredible experience from start to finish. We were lucky enough to get a last-minute reservation, & the entire team made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in;)
The seafood was outstanding. Even coming from the West Coast, where we're spoiled with fresh seafood, we were impressed by both the quality & the beautiful presentation! The wine pairings were exceptional - we enjoyed them so much that we ended up ordering quite a few bottles!
I was also surprised by how many amazing options were on the menu, making it so hard to choose. To top it all off, the dessert was easily the best I had during my entire trip to Montreal.
After I got back to Japan, I met some travelers from Montreal & we ended up having the best conversation about Joe Beef. It was such a sweet reminder that a great restaurant can bring people together, even from opposite sides of the world. I'd love to come back someday!
This restaurant made me fall in love with food… I try to come when I'm in Montreal & truthfully will base trips around coming here.
It's truly a special spot - the atmosphere, the staff, the effortless comfort I feel when I step through the door is unmatched. That is my 5* before I even get to the food.
Truthfully the food is incredible but it's also the incredible staff that bring this restaurant to be one of my favorites in the world.
I know we are in the minority here, but we thought Joe Beef was just okay, & would not recommend it to friends or travelers, especially at this price point when there are much better places to go in the city. We ordered a tuna appetizer, beef tartare, & for mains we got the filet & the lobster spaghetti. The tuna & beef tartare were both underwhelming. They were fresh & high quality, but nothing unique or special about the preparation or presentation. My husband actually joked that the beef tartare looked like cat food. The filet was covered in sauce that was overpowering of the meat's flavor & I thought my lobster spaghetti was good, but not worth raving about. I usually LOVE ordering dessert after dinner, but I was so underwhelmed by everything we ordered that we just got ice cream next door. We were also there for over 2 hours & while our waitress was wonderful, it just took far too long to get our food. Our bill was over $350, which just too much to not be wowed by a single plate.
The world renowned joe beef doesn't disappoint. Food, drinks, dessert everything is decadent & delicious. Lobster pasta stole the show from the steak which was just good not great. Service is impeccable, just make sure to save room for dessert it is a can't skip at this spot.
Great food, great service, & great environment. Even the music playing inside the restaurant was great.
Joe Beef came highly recommended by a local during my trip to Montreal. I had the opportunity to chat with the friendly staff & other patrons at the bar. It was a great experience & a perfect place to meet locals or other solo travelers at the bar.
Joe Beef is, without question, one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal. Every visit feels like a true culinary experience from start to finish.
The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between warm, lively, & intimate, making you feel at home while enjoying world-class cuisine. The service is exceptional, knowledgeable, attentive, & genuinely passionate about the food they serve. Thank you
Joe Beef is becoming Joe'Who?'. Yes. I was going into this with high expectations & most of the time if they come close I'm looking forward to going back & give a glowing review. I'll be brief. I expected the place to be loud but I didn't expect to be eating in totally inadequate'poor' people's hot house oven conditions. Yeah it was very hot & humid last night. So What We spent over 250. per person . . . We're 4 so that's over a $1000. + & we were cooked as much as anything on the menu. I'm going to guess that every single guest came from & was glad to go back to a reasonably if not properly air conditioned residence. Ok then the food. Overall it was a big'So What'
The lamb was overcooked, the Zucini, was zzzzz, yeah the signature lobster spaghetti was very good (& so were the croquettes) but the number one dessert (some kind of multi ingriedient hazelnut/ pistachio etc. cake . . . was really off.
Maybe the heat did that in as well. Even the (we make our own carbonated water) needed a CSI team to find the bubbles.
Look Mr. Beef take two night's profit & get an additional A/C unit. Also'Where's The Beef' ? You're listed as a steak house so maybe put a few Steaks on the menu. I'm sorry but you may have been a legend but now you're below average kind of like the Montreal Canadians (until this year).
I can't tell you to step up you're game because you're not in the game any more because honestly you need an overhaul.
Do something about it or change your name. The legend has left the building.
Top tier dining experience. My wife & I sat at the nook of the bar & had the absolute best meal. The bartender who took care of us was a lovely guy, as was all of the staff we encountered. Exceptional hospitality!
