Meal was fantastic, atmosphere was comfy & dark - charming but not extravagant. We had a steak with peppercorn sauce to share & it was divine: a perfect cut of steak cooked to perfection with a tasty sear & lots of rendered fat. Peppercorn sauce was amazing, & the chips (fries) were some of the best I've had. I'm not sure why because they were so simple but something about them was so good, tasty & salty. The spicy mayo was amazing with them too. My only criticisms: I may be an ogre but I wanted more peppercorn sauce, I want every single bite lathered in it. & also the steak used to be a main for one at like 60 dollars & now it's a to share plate for 2 at 250 dollars, which doubles the price per person. Still delicious but it went from a nice & already kind of pricey meal out to a gut puncher.

A very disappointing experience. Absolutely not worthy of the hype.
The steak was tough, the lamb was underwhelming & the sides were standard. Wine pairings were ill informed & misleading. Absolutely not worth the price or need of reservation.

I've been wanting to come to this place for a long time. This is very good french cuisine. I got the Double down, the Demi-douzaine escargot, the Lobster spaghetti, & the Filet de Boeuf(filet mignon) & followed with Marjolaine layer cake.

Dammmmm!

Everything was so good, decadent, & masterfully presented. Our server Julian perfectly knew every dish like he makes it himself & steered us through the menu which could be challenging to understand coming from English speak lol. This place is legit!!
Be forwarned though, I don't think they ask your temperature preference for steak. This don't bother me because I'm a vampire lol but this means the chef wants me to have it this way. I can respect that. No problem here.

All in all, service was incredible. Lots of fun, great vibes, friendly fellow patrons, great food, I will be returning!

The world renowned joe beef doesn't disappoint. Food, drinks, dessert everything is decadent & delicious. Lobster pasta stole the show from the steak which was just good not great. Service is impeccable, just make sure to save room for dessert it is a can't skip at this spot.

Joe Beef is becoming Joe'Who?'. Yes. I was going into this with high expectations & most of the time if they come close I'm looking forward to going back & give a glowing review. I'll be brief. I expected the place to be loud but I didn't expect to be eating in totally inadequate'poor' people's hot house oven conditions. Yeah it was very hot & humid last night. So What We spent over 250. per person . . . We're 4 so that's over a $1000. + & we were cooked as much as anything on the menu. I'm going to guess that every single guest came from & was glad to go back to a reasonably if not properly air conditioned residence. Ok then the food. Overall it was a big'So What'
The lamb was overcooked, the Zucini, was zzzzz, yeah the signature lobster spaghetti was very good (& so were the croquettes) but the number one dessert (some kind of multi ingriedient hazelnut/ pistachio etc. cake . . . was really off.
Maybe the heat did that in as well. Even the (we make our own carbonated water) needed a CSI team to find the bubbles.
Look Mr. Beef take two night's profit & get an additional A/C unit. Also'Where's The Beef' ? You're listed as a steak house so maybe put a few Steaks on the menu. I'm sorry but you may have been a legend but now you're below average kind of like the Montreal Canadians (until this year).
I can't tell you to step up you're game because you're not in the game any more because honestly you need an overhaul.
Do something about it or change your name. The legend has left the building.

Bourdain chasing on our group's Quebec trip. Had high hopes but ended up a bit underwhelmed. Our group had oysters, steak tartare, escargot, lobster spaghetti, & Guinea hen bouillabaisse.

Everything other than the lobster spaghetti was perfect. Steak tartare perfectly seasoned, escargot was herby & garlicky, & the bird was amazing. I'm personally not a fan of cream sauces but this one blew me away, not to mention the mushroom medley around it was peak as well. However, the lobster spaghetti was underseasoned, almost as if they forgot to salt the pasta water? I could definitely taste the powdered lobster shell in the sauce, but the lack of salt made everything a bit muted, which is unfortunate considering the price.

The bread was standard, butter was above average. Mashed potatoes also good. The layer cake was also good, tasted like chocolate hazelnut cake, but the ganache layer made it special (who doesn't like ganache?)

Not sure if I'll be back.

Come here for the wine & the starters! The escargot is spectacular-literally better than the escargot I've had in France, & easily the best of my life. Their wine list is also top-notch.

However, the mains left a bit to be desired. The steak was fairly mediocre, & the duck had a bit of a gamey odor, though the sauce helped cover it up. The pate was also just average.

It's been 8 years since I've eaten here last. I was very excited to be back, but was pretty disappointed when we left.

Food was fine, although our steak had tons of connective trimmings that made it a bit difficult to eat.

Service was awful. Very pushy. When asked for recommendations the server was very aggressive about recommending based on highest price tag. He was not happy when we ordered a $50 bottle of wine & made service feel a bit awkward because of that.

We were missing food from our order. Received the wrong foie gras that contained allergens we were transparent about having & needing to avoid.

I think if you are going to be aggressive with upselling customers you need to at least provide the quality of service that deserves that price tag, & the subsequent tip this server was so desperate for.

I would consider somewhere else, this place has lost its way.

One of the best meals I had in Montreal. Fantastic service, great drinks & food. The lobster spaghetti is rich & decadent, the croquettes were stuffed with Montreal smoked meat & were delicious. The oysters were fresh & tasty & the steak tartare was particularly flavourful. My wife ordered the duck which was accented with the perfect sauce. We ended with two desserts to share with the table. It was quite busy & I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance but well worth it.

The restaurant is super cute! The appetizers were a little mid, but the entrées were absolutely delicious - honestly some of the best steak I've had.

With that said, the consistency in service was lacking. We saw servers taking shots with guests at the table next to us, & at one point we also saw the chef outside drinking wine with guests. While that atmosphere can definitely be fun & adds to the vibe, it seemed to impact the flow of service because our food ended up taking over two hours to come out - & when it finally arrived, it was cold.

I completely understand it was a busy weekend, especially with Grand Prix crowds, but consistency is key. If staff has time to socialize & drink with guests, the kitchen & service timing should still remain a priority for the rest of the restaurant. Great food & a fun atmosphere can absolutely coexist - but service still has to feel organized & consistent.
