Not my first time, but I may not go back. Honestly, the atmosphere & service is great, but the food was average at best. Only the dessert was very good. I left hungry. Prices are high for what you get.

What an incredible experience from start to finish. We were lucky enough to get a last-minute reservation, & the entire team made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in;)

The seafood was outstanding. Even coming from the West Coast, where we're spoiled with fresh seafood, we were impressed by both the quality & the beautiful presentation! The wine pairings were exceptional - we enjoyed them so much that we ended up ordering quite a few bottles!

I was also surprised by how many amazing options were on the menu, making it so hard to choose. To top it all off, the dessert was easily the best I had during my entire trip to Montreal.

After I got back to Japan, I met some travelers from Montreal & we ended up having the best conversation about Joe Beef. It was such a sweet reminder that a great restaurant can bring people together, even from opposite sides of the world. I'd love to come back someday!

The world renowned joe beef doesn't disappoint. Food, drinks, dessert everything is decadent & delicious. Lobster pasta stole the show from the steak which was just good not great. Service is impeccable, just make sure to save room for dessert it is a can't skip at this spot.

I know we are in the minority here, but we thought Joe Beef was just okay, & would not recommend it to friends or travelers, especially at this price point when there are much better places to go in the city. We ordered a tuna appetizer, beef tartare, & for mains we got the filet & the lobster spaghetti. The tuna & beef tartare were both underwhelming. They were fresh & high quality, but nothing unique or special about the preparation or presentation. My husband actually joked that the beef tartare looked like cat food. The filet was covered in sauce that was overpowering of the meat's flavor & I thought my lobster spaghetti was good, but not worth raving about. I usually LOVE ordering dessert after dinner, but I was so underwhelmed by everything we ordered that we just got ice cream next door. We were also there for over 2 hours & while our waitress was wonderful, it just took far too long to get our food. Our bill was over $350, which just too much to not be wowed by a single plate.

Joe Beef is becoming Joe'Who?'. Yes. I was going into this with high expectations & most of the time if they come close I'm looking forward to going back & give a glowing review. I'll be brief. I expected the place to be loud but I didn't expect to be eating in totally inadequate'poor' people's hot house oven conditions. Yeah it was very hot & humid last night. So What We spent over 250. per person . . . We're 4 so that's over a $1000. + & we were cooked as much as anything on the menu. I'm going to guess that every single guest came from & was glad to go back to a reasonably if not properly air conditioned residence. Ok then the food. Overall it was a big'So What'
The lamb was overcooked, the Zucini, was zzzzz, yeah the signature lobster spaghetti was very good (& so were the croquettes) but the number one dessert (some kind of multi ingriedient hazelnut/ pistachio etc. cake . . . was really off.
Maybe the heat did that in as well. Even the (we make our own carbonated water) needed a CSI team to find the bubbles.
Look Mr. Beef take two night's profit & get an additional A/C unit. Also'Where's The Beef' ? You're listed as a steak house so maybe put a few Steaks on the menu. I'm sorry but you may have been a legend but now you're below average kind of like the Montreal Canadians (until this year).
I can't tell you to step up you're game because you're not in the game any more because honestly you need an overhaul.
Do something about it or change your name. The legend has left the building.

An unforgettable evening at Joe Beef!

We had dinner at Joe Beef on July 3, & it absolutely lived up to its legendary reputation. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed into an atmosphere that was warm, eclectic, lively, & full of personality. The restaurant has a charm that's impossible to fake-it's energetic without feeling rushed & makes you feel like you're part of something special.

A huge thank you to Simon, our server, who made the evening exceptional. He struck the perfect balance between professionalism & fun, making us feel genuinely welcome while expertly guiding us through the menu. His wine recommendations paired beautifully with our meal, & his enthusiasm for the food & the restaurant was remarkable.

Every dish was outstanding, but the escargot was absolutely phenomenal-rich, flavorful, & perfectly prepared. The tomato salad was surprisingly one of the highlights of the evening, showcasing incredibly fresh ingredients with simple, flawless execution.

Simon also steered us toward fantastic wine selections that complemented every course, & he saved room for dessert with recommendations that were the perfect ending to an already incredible meal. Every bite was memorable.

Joe Beef isn't just a restaurant-it's an experience. Outstanding food, incredible hospitality, a unique atmosphere, & service that goes above & beyond. Simon helped make our visit one we'll be talking about for a long time.

I thought it was a possibility that Joe Beef could be an overhyped'Montreal Institution'... I was very pleased that Joe Beef is not overhyped at all & deserves all of their accolades!
From the service to the atmosphere & of course to the food... everything was excellent. We were greeted by an extremely friendly & welcoming hostess. We were served by two wonderful servers, Leo & Mixi (i think, sp?). We received attentive service with personality & great recommendations. We truly felt welcomed & treated so well! The wine suggestion was incredible. & all of the food was top tier! I will excitedly recommend Joe Beef to anyone going to Montreal!
Cavier, escargot, rabbit & pork sausage, & crispy fowl! 2 desserts because we were celebrating & having a great time.

So glad we were able to make the trip to Joe Beef! Food & service were fantastic. We had the escargot, terrine, oeuf en gelée, croquettes, lobster pasta, halibut, & for dessert got their 24 layer cake, ice cream sundae, & choux pastry strawberry cream. For 4 of us this was a great amount of food. I also had an amazing Caesar mocktail drink. Unfortunately I did not get pictures of everything as we wanted to eat as soon as the food was brought out. Highly recommend but make sure you secure a reservation well in advance!

The food took almost two hours to arrive, & even getting the bill took quite a while. The restaurant was very busy & spacious, which may have contributed to the delays. Our server was extremely kind & attentive. Although the food itself was not particularly delicious, she made an effort to improve our experience by giving each of us a complimentary dessert & replacing our original appetizer without charging us.

Overall, we had a fun time & enjoyed the good vibes, but considering the prices, the quality & experience did not fully match what we paid for.
