Joe Beef is widely celebrated as a must-visit Montreal institution that consistently delivers a memorable, high-energy dining experience. Guests frequently praise the warm, eclectic atmosphere and the exceptional level of hospitality provided by the knowledgeable and attentive staff. While the menu is recognized for its rich, decadent, and flavor-forward approach, with iconic dishes like the lobster spaghetti, foie gras, and various steak and seafood preparations often receiving acclaim, some diners find the cuisine occasionally overhyped or inconsistent. Although experiences with portion sizes, pricing, and noise levels vary, most visitors appreciate the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and its unique charm, frequently recommending it as a premier destination for those seeking a celebratory and indulgent meal in the city.
This place feels like you're eating at your grandma's house but she was a chef at 3 Michelin star restaurant for 15 years. I just love this place one of the best food I ever had.
Food was great. Ham & hanger steak fantastic. The raw tuna app was very disappointing. Montreal staple, & they had one ply toilette paper in the bathroom, unacceptable
The service was excellent, staff were very friendly, but that's not what I went for. The prices are very expensive for what you get. The wine was the worst white Sav Blanc I have ever had. It was from New Zealand, which are known for their Sav Blanc but this wine was terrible for $95 a bottle. I wouldn't go back.

A fine dine, with a great service. The food, including appetizer, main & dessert were exquisite. Everything was made to the perfection even the sourdough bread. Overall a fantastic, well also keep in mind, expensive experience.
Wow, what a gem! The cozy atmosphere immediately makes you feel at home. The staff are incredibly polite & welcoming, making sure you have an exceptional dining experience. & the meat? Absolutely divine! The quality & flavor are top-notch, & trust me, it's well worth the price. If you're looking for a great meal in a warm & inviting setting, look no further!
Joe Beef is an exquisite & divine establishment. I was thoroughly impressed by the service, it was tremendous in the completion of my meal. The quality of the food was spectacular & the portions were adequate to much surprise. I highly recommend Joe Beef, that is, if you can get the reservation. It is a little crammed in there & loud but worth it for the meal. Cheers Joe mon ami merci beaucoup.
What a great restaurant. The service was impeccable without being stuffy. The food is amazing - honesty one of the best meals I've had at this price point. The table side beef tartare was a standout, & the lobster spaghetti is something I hope I get to eat again. Our waiter provided a perfect wine recommendation that paired nicely with both. Glad that the hype is deserved.
This was the best dinner I have had in Montreal. The atmosphere was great & the staff was knowledge & attentive. We started the delicious evening with a glass of champagne & fresh oysters, the steak was cooked to perfection & flavorful, even the sides were super fresh! It was truly an unforgettable experience!
Great service, some of the best waiters I've ever encountered! The atmosphere is nice & cozy & the food is overall good (we had beef tartare, lobster spaghetti, filet mignon & duck breast). Overall, this restaurant is extremely overpriced (440 dollars in 3 people plus a kid who only got french fries) & at the end of the day it's not worth the wait & the money. The filet mignon was good, but not better than other places & that alone costed 95 dollars. I won't come back.
