Nice place. Neighborhood restaurant. Not the best but solid. Good. Service staff a plus.
Truly one of the most memorable meals I've had, with incredible hospitality that is core to the DNA of Montreal & can't be found anywhere else. Seafood platter was insanely good. Wine was fantastic. The cooked dishes were good but really outshined by the seafood platter. It's worth trying to get the reservation.
The food was overall not bad
- Croquette Smoked Meat was really good, 12$ for 3
- Snails were « ok », the sauce is literally oil/butter/brocoli so it didnt have an umami taste, 48$ for 12
- Lobster Spag was good, but overpriced, 71$, the pasta were al dente & the lobster was yummy
- Steak was cooked medium rare, & we had 2 sauces (vin rouge & pepper sauce), overall juicy & good, 125$
- Fries was 11$ & pretty normal fries, nothing too special
- Carrots were too mushy, but the sauce was very good, 13$
- Marjolaine cake was moist & tasty (its a layered cake with almond, hazelnut, chocolate & caramel, 16$
What amazed us is the service. We had the best best waitress possible, but we unfortunately didnt ask her name. Overall, every staff there was kind, generous & smily.
This place truly lives up to its name. Cozy space, friendly servers, eclectic decor, & creative menu options. Food itself was exceptional. On the pricier side but for good reason. You must try the raw scallops!!
We absolutely loved it! There was no'sales pressure,' just detailed recommendations with prices. Everyone is bilingual, & there were a few things I didn't understand in French, but our waitress was more than happy to explain everything in both French & English, which made both my boyfriend & me feel comfortable. We took our time, finished our meal after closing hours, & there was no pressure to leave. We were lucky enough to have a cute, secluded table (see photos, though I didn't take that picture). It was my birthday, & I didn't get the birthday'surprise' because I was too shy, but I noticed they have this adorable tradition.
I had always wanted to try this restaurant because of all the hype about it & the fact that you have to reserve in advance kind of made me really excited to try. In all honesty though, it was good but I thought it be amazing & the food didn't really give me that. The service however did give me that wow factor. The place is cute with a nice ambiance the service was emaculate our waiter was exceptional he was friendly, new his menu thoroughly & his attention to detail was impeccable which was appreciated.
