First, the service. The staff was, to a person, kinda, knowledgeable, attentive, & approachable. You have an allergy? We can make this without that ingredient, & this is how it will impact the flavor. In fact, let us make one of each so the table can experience both. They were in a class of their own. Then the food. Everything, & I mean EVERYTHING, to each bite was amazing. Raw scallops topped with truffles? One of the best bites of my life. Suckling pig confit? I though I knew what depth of flavor was. Every time the fork met my mouth I was reminded just how wrong I had been my entire life. It was exquisite (& I don't know that I have ever used that world non-ironically) If you consider yourself a fan of food, your life is incomplete until you have eaten at Joe Beef.
Great food. Great service. Flo was the waiter. Phenomenal guy. Top notch service & food & experience.
Wow! We've been dreaming of eating at Joe Beef since watching an old episode of Anthony Bourdain. The staff was very careful with our friend's food allergy & advised what each menus item consisted of & asked the kitchen to be mindful during preparation. We shared the large seafood platter, beef tartare plus a round of cocktails. Then for the mains the 4 of us shared the Lobster Spaghetti & Suckling Pig. I love a restaurant that knows their food is for sharing!! Exceptional guidance by our server, he suggested so many great options. We also loved how attentive the entire staff was with refilling water glasses & bringing out extra dishes for shells or whatnot. Oh the desserts were wonderful! We all loved the lemon sorbet & 24 Layer Cake. Divine!
This place was amazing. The staff was exceptional & great suggestions.
The food was awesome, I will be going back. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the items on the menu.
Excellent food. Got the hanger steak, lobster spaghetti, oysters & some other things. All worth it. For the quality, not very expensive, would definitely recommend. The restaurant can be a tad crowded & you're just a smidge too close to neighbors, but it is what it is! For the food, it's worth it. Ps: ask for the bacon on the side or no bacon in lobster sphaghetti, salty enough as is & best to have it added on to your own liking.
I have to agree with the other reviews. It's unfortunately overhyped. Yes, the staff is impeccable. Super attentive, friendly, quick & the water glass is always full. The food was good but WAY too overpriced. You pay for high end fine dining & get family restaurant. It's very loud & buzzy in there.
It's a classic..maybe not quite what it was 10 yrs ago but still great
This place is one of a kind. Worth the wait of the years trying to get a reservation when we're in town. We'll be back.
Cute atmosphere, spectacular food presentation, great taste + flavour, friendly knowledgeable service. What more could you ask for 🫶 Highlights: halibut, beef gravy, jambon appetizer, & the nut cake!! will definitely be back 🤞
One of the best restaurant experiences I've had to date! The food was truly amazing, worth every penny & truly lives up to the hype. Service was great, super personable & kind. Atmosphere was amazing & I will recommend this place to anyone looking for a special meal in Montreal .
Totally forgot to take picture of my beef. The portion was for 2 people. But three of us didn't finish it (we eat little in general) Medium rare was perfect.
I've been here multiple times but the last trip was one of the best restaurant experiences my wife & I have had in Montreal. Our waiter was absolutely marvelous, & took extra care to ensure our meal was perfect & suitable for our dietary restrictions. My wife is a picky vegetarian & typically hates fine dining as they typically offer a plate of vegetables or salads. Our waiter worked with the chef to create a cheese plate, & sides including morel mushrooms which she was enamored with. I have an allergy to alcohol & eating french food tends to be difficult due to just about everyone having alcohol in it. Our waiter worked with the chef to adjust sauces to allow me to try some of the most amazingly delightful & delicious French food I've had. The sweetbreads were delicious, the pork was perfect, & the morels were out of this world.
After enjoying the food that was out of this world, I went back to living my normal life.
