Although I'm well-acquainted with Indian food & have been eating it since I was young, this was a new experience for me. I went for the cheese Vada Pav & appreciated that they were not shy with the cheese. But the snack just didn't resonate with me, just was not fond of the texture or flavour of the vege-patty. The atmosphere has a very authentic Indian feeling to it & the service was fine, unfortunately the food just was not for my palate.
The famous & iconic item of Jay Bhavani, the vada pav, was missing butter in my butter vada pav. I would recommend requesting butter in your butter vada pav while ordering. I hope this reminds them to include it.
The staff was friendly & assisting
The food items were very average, not authentic taste, & the bread felt old , even the manchurian balls were not fresh. Fried rice was bit more salty.
Definitely a vegetarian option, but they need to improve taste & make it more authentic.
Great service & a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff were polite, attentive, & made the whole visit feel comfortable. The place is clean, warm, & has a really pleasant vibe. I would definitely recommend it.
We went to this restaurant for dine in. First of all no one came to ask if we want to dine in or to take out. Then we went to check the menu near the counter. The cashier was so busy in his world! Worst Indian restaurant!
We had lot of food vadapav, misal pav, bhaji tukda mix, sev puri etc… Food was amazing & quick response must recommend place for quick indian snacks to try.
We visited here & ordered Hakka noodles, a paneer tikka sandwich, & a tandoori paneer pizza from Toronto.
The taste was good & flavors were decent 👍
However, the quantity was way too less for the price charged which was quite disappointing.
The food didn't justify the cost at all.
They should either increase the portion size or reconsider their pricing, because it currently feels like overcharging to customers.
Legit saw a rat inside the establishment from outside at 10pm today when it was closed. I would think twice before going here.
All i want to say jai bhavani 🤝 very nice butter maska vada pav green chutney was amazing 🤩
Food is amazing & Friendly staff. Strongly recommended to have best taste like India in Montreal.
The food is too delicious & place is too good for sitting & the associate are also quite good.
My family & I have been trying Indian restaurants in Canada for years, & this one has been the best & most authentic one so far. I tried the vada pav & the missal pav, delicious; & the chai was refreshing & hit the spot. I also thank Khushbu for her excellent service. 5 stars all across the board!
worst vada pav in my life.
the homemade vada pav is better option.
Shame on jay bhawani franchise owner who is running business.
we order sev puri . puri was 4 piece & thinner slice of potato
thik sev
no taste no flavour no colors in sev puri plate.
i would not take name of staff because i am sure they were students . but i am sure they have taught that way to prepare food.
all the decoration available in Gujarat they put in restaurant no match no layers no arrangements.
i would suggest not to go there & better go to local food joints.
Nice clean vegetarian resto. Service was great. I got a few items as take away as a first try & it was worth it. Will be back whenever in the area.
As someone who recently moved to Montreal from Calgary-a city that, surprisingly, serves up some absolutely fantastic Vada Pav. I was excited to try my first one here at Jay Bhavani Vadapav. Unfortunately, I left feeling quite disappointed, but I truly believe that with a few small, dedicated changes, the owners could significantly elevate these two dishes.
Vada Pav:
I have to be upfront & say that the Vada Pav served here does not resemble the authentic street food experience. The main issues were its appearance & components: it was flat, the aloo vada filling inside was just'okay,' & the vital dry garlic chutney was unfortunately missing. Furthermore, I noticed, as have other reviewers, that the bread used is much closer to a generic burger bun than the soft, original pav. Even a slight shift to a more traditional or higher-quality, soft pav would make a huge difference in the overall taste & authenticity.
Dabeli:
The Dabeli was also underwhelming. While the flavor of the masala filling was decent, the texture of the bread was incorrect. Authentic Dabeli should have a beautiful contrast of a crispy, pan-toasted exterior & a soft interior, but this version missed that mark entirely.
Final Thoughts:
I am not judging the overall quality of this restaurant based solely on these two dishes, but Vada Pav & Dabeli are signature street foods, & they should shine. I genuinely think the owners are capable of making a big difference by addressing the missing dry chutney, using a more traditional pav, & refining the preparation technique for the Dabeli's texture. I hope to come back & try an enhanced version soon!
