Review Summary

Jay Bhavani Vadapav offers a popular, vegetarian-focused Indian dining experience in Montreal that many guests praise for its authentic flavors, diverse menu including Punjabi, Indo-Chinese, and Gujarati dishes, and accommodating options for Jain and Swaminarayan diets. While numerous patrons highlight the delicious vada pav, masala chai, and fresh preparation as a nostalgic taste of home, reviews are mixed regarding service quality and consistency. Many visitors commend the friendly and welcoming staff, yet some report occasional challenges with long wait times during busy periods, inconsistent portion sizes, and lapses in cleanliness or service attentiveness. Despite these variations, the restaurant remains a highly recommended destination for those seeking genuine Indian street food and a vibrant atmosphere in the downtown area.

As far as the food is concerned, the taste was authentic. The service was good even though they were so busy. The only thing is the store needed some detail cleaning. I saw so much debris on the floor. I hope this review will help them take some steps.

Had a wonderful experience at Jay Bhawani. We ordered the Tandoori Stuffed Mushroom Tikka, Amritsari Kulcha, Cheese Butter Masala, Chilli Naan, & Tandoori Roti, all prepared in Swaminarayan style. Every dish was incredibly delicious, fresh, & full of authentic flavors. The Amritsari Kulcha was especially outstanding & a must-try.

A big compliment to the chef for maintaining such amazing taste & quality in every dish. The staff were courteous, attentive, & made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. It's not easy to find such tasty Swaminarayan options, & Jay Bhawani truly exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for anyone looking for flavorful vegetarian Indian food. We will definitely be back😊 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🙏🏻🍽?

'The customer service at Gunja was excellent, & the food was absolutely delicious. The flavors were authentic & had the same taste as traditional Indian food. A great place to enjoy genuine Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!'

Let me start with this: I've never seen a place sell vada pav as a single. Most spots serve them in pairs of two. Secondly, there's nothing authentic about this place. A vada pav is supposed to be served on a soft ladi pav, but they use a hamburger bun here, which just doesn't work.
To make matters worse, adding extra butter or cheese costs about $2-3 each unbelievably expensive for a spot without even a place to sit. That'extra cheese' gets you a single teaspoon & a lot of disappointment. This place is incredibly overrated; everything we ate was below average. We ordered half the menu, & nothing was worth a second try. As for the staff, they were just there-rude & clearly didn't care about service.

When i visited them again there was a guy & he was literally rude who needs to be trained on customer satisfaction… he wasn't answering to the point but used statement like'We will not make fresh idli just for you'.

The tawa biryani was again so so, not so good.

Old review--

The staff was friendly & assisting

The food items were very average, not authentic taste, & the bread felt old , even the manchurian balls were not fresh. Fried rice was bit more salty.

Definitely a vegetarian option, but they need to improve taste & make it more authentic.
