Review Summary

Jako is widely recognized as a premier destination for Korean and Japanese fusion cuisine in Montreal, frequently praised for its flavorful, high-quality dishes, generous portions, and authentic atmosphere. Popular menu items include the bulgogi dolsot, various katsu preparations, and creamy udon, all of which contribute to the restaurant's strong reputation for delicious comfort food. While the majority of guests enjoy the cozy, vibrant environment and attentive, professional service, experiences can vary regarding noise levels and occasional wait times. Due to its consistent popularity and compact size, securing a reservation in advance is highly recommended to ensure a seamless dining experience at this well-regarded eatery.

A great spot for a quick lunch on a quieter part of downtown. There aren't too many vegetarian options on the menu but substitutions can be made to switch out meat. Presentation was very pretty. The portions for a single main are just right to be considered a full meal. This fusion restaurant blends Japanese specialties like tempura with Korean staples such as kimchi in a single Dolsat. The service was friendly & efficient. The interior is quite cozy. Groups would fit but probably not bigger than four.

Korean-Japanese fusion done right. Bold, balanced flavors, great service, & a vibe that keeps you coming back. One of the best meals I've had in the city.

The neon lights make you really feel like you are in a busy street in Asia & makes it so comfortable. The small tables however takes a bit away at that comfortable. The service was polite but they were not really friendly or welcoming. The food also took close to 30 minutes to serve. It was probably a busy night though. The food itself was great! I was surprised by the combination of flavours from Japanese cuisine & Korean cuisine. I usually find fusion restaurants to be a bit mediocre but this Japanese & Korean fusion had more creativity & the flavours complemented each other surprisingly well. Around 20$ for a plate which is acceptable, the portion is also decent.

Best Korean-Japanese fusion food in Montreal!
The service is impeccable, Sit & Anh are the best. Always get my chicken cream katsu even though my lactose intolerant self can't eat it, I still get it.

Portions copieuses!

I've been going to Restaurant Jako since 2020, & it continues to be one of the best Japanese & Korean fusion restaurants I've ever been to. Every visit somehow tops the last - the food, the service, & the overall experience just keep getting better.

Two of my all-time favorite dishes are the bulgogi yaki udon & the chicken katsu with cream sauce, mushrooms, & onions - both are packed with flavor & perfectly cooked every time. You can tell they care about quality & consistency. The staff is always friendly & welcoming, & the cozy atmosphere makes it a great place to relax & enjoy an amazing meal.

Highly recommend this gem to anyone who appreciates authentic & delicious Japanese-Korean fusion cuisine!
