Review Summary

Jako is a popular downtown destination known for its authentic and creative Korean-Japanese fusion cuisine. Diners frequently praise the bold flavors and generous portions of signature dishes like the bulgogi dolsot, various katsu options, and flavorful udon bowls. The atmosphere is generally described as cozy, warm, and welcoming, making it an excellent spot for casual meals with friends or family. While the service is largely considered friendly, efficient, and attentive, the restaurant is often busy, so making a reservation in advance is highly recommended to ensure a table. Although most experiences are consistently positive, minor critiques occasionally mention the restaurant being loud, small table sizes, or specific dishes not meeting individual taste preferences.

Delicious foods! I went there mainly for the chicken katsu topped with melted cheese, served on the grill rack as seen on several photos. In my opinion, it tasted exactly like how I had imagined, only less crispier than I thought, but the rest is exactly like how I wanted while I was drooling on the photos before visiting. The service is amazing as well. Thank you!

This might soon become my favorite Korean restaurant in Montreal. It does cost more than other Korean restaurants in the area, but it is so worth it. On weekends reservations are almost essential as it is a small place. Service is good too.

The Katsu is quite delicious, but my least favorite thing so far on the menu. I loved the bulgogi yaki udon.

Portions are quite regular. Their katsu was quite good, & the bulgogi flavorful & they did not skimp out on beef! Very authentic. Reserve in advance, as it got quite busy at 5pm on a Sunday.

What an amazing restaurant with impeccable service! The food was to die for & so fresh.

We ordered a chicken katsu & there was a tiny piece of blood in it, so we just ate around it & didn't say anything. When the server took our plates to the back, he came back to apologize on behalf of the chef for the small piece of blood, & kindly gave us a big discount on our meal without us saying anything!

Would absolutely come back again!

I disliked the kimchi appetizer which smells & tastes OVER fermented (rotten). Katsu fried pork was OPPOSITE to crispy (soft & soggy surface) Restaurant floor looks stained. Had a fly around me.

I loved the cheese katsu with the gravy. I also like the radish kimchi. The mashed potatoes tasted good too but I wish it was served warm like all the other food instead of cold.

We really enjoyed everything.
The tteokkochi was nice & chewy with a bit of a sweet-spicy kick, the bulgogi dolsot came out sizzling & had a lot of flavor, & the cheese katsu was crispy with melted cheese inside.
Overall just a really good meal. We'd definitely come back.

Yaki Udon au bulgogi is really great, we will come back for that one. We weren't massive fans of the dolsot au Jeyuk, but it was good. The curry chicken katsu was also great.
