Jako is described as a small, cozy Korean and Japanese fusion restaurant with a warm vibe and soft lighting. The food is repeatedly praised for being flavorful and generously portioned, with favorites like bulgogi dolsot, yaki udon, fried chicken, katsu with cream sauce, and sundubu; prices are considered affordable for the downtown area. Service is noted as attentive and friendly, often quick, with staff who offer good recommendations and even help with takeout when the meal is finished. The atmosphere is described as welcoming and unpretentious, a good setting for casual meals with friends or family, though the space can be a bit dark and the music loud at times, and a few dishes are described as overly salty or oily. Overall, reviews converge on a highly positive impression and a strong likelihood to return, with many urging reservations for peak times.
We really enjoyed everything.
The tteokkochi was nice & chewy with a bit of a sweet-spicy kick, the bulgogi dolsot came out sizzling & had a lot of flavor, & the cheese katsu was crispy with melted cheese inside.
Overall just a really good meal. We'd definitely come back.
Yaki Udon au bulgogi is really great, we will come back for that one. We weren't massive fans of the dolsot au Jeyuk, but it was good. The curry chicken katsu was also great.

Had the Jeyuk Dolsot - excellent with the right amount of heat (not super spicy). Glad I ordered the Agedashi Tofu as well, as the sweetness of that sauce helped balance out the heat of the dolsot.
Food is so out of this world it's honestly some of the best food In all of MTL like my lord this is so good. We had the chicken Katsu with the curry 🍛 just mind-blowing & dolsot bulgogi soso good so I recommend both for sure & can't wait to go back & try more on the menu!!! 4.6/5!!!
cute little restaurant, the dishes are very good, we had the pork katsu donbori, bulgogi udon, tteokbokki yaki udon & dak galbi dolsot. portions are generous & the prices are also very fair for the quantity you get!! definitely recommend :)
Jako is a small, cozy Korean restaurant with a decent variety of dishes. I tried two of their dolsot (stone bowl) options:
• Bulgogi Dolsot - 9/10 A solid dish with a good portion of beef & a soft egg. Flavor was nice, though not as rich or memorable as I expected.
• Spicy Squid Dolsot - 7.5/10 A decent pick if you like spicy food, but the squid was a bit underwhelming (the thin small cuts felt more like a side than the main feature)
The place has a warm atmosphere, but I found it a bit too dark during dinner, it was honestly hard to see what I was eating.
Overall, Jako is a nice spot & worth checking out. It delivers on expectations & justifies its good ratings, though it didn't quite impress me personally.

The udon bulgogi was delicious! The vibe was also really nice. Definitely would come back & recommend, good location too right near the 1 & about a 15 min walk from mont royal
Best korean restaurant ive ever went to...sucks its 6hrs away from me (i live in the states).
The Food is unparralled, the vibes are unparralled. Bulgogi & soju=legendary times. Literally felt like i was IN South Korea.
10000/10
Starting off with the food, every single thing was delicious!! I had the bulgogi dolsot (pictured) & it was incredible, probably one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Everyone in my party was extremely happy with everything from the daikon to our appetizer of fried cauliflower to each of our meals. Two of my party members had the creamy seafood yaki udon & said it was the best meal they ever had. Next, the service was great! They came by multiple times to check on us throughout the meals, asked us about dietary restrictions without prompting, & were very polite. Lastly, the atmosphere was amazing!! The signs & posters across the walls were such a great touch & the chalkboard menu with drawings of the meals was so cute & artistic.
TLDR: Everything was amazing & they were very accommodating! Their food was absolutely incredible & the atmosphere is so cool. I 100% recommend it when in the Montréal area!!

I've been going to Restaurant Jako since 2020, & it continues to be one of the best Japanese & Korean fusion restaurants I've ever been to. Every visit somehow tops the last - the food, the service, & the overall experience just keep getting better.
Two of my all-time favorite dishes are the bulgogi yaki udon & the chicken katsu with cream sauce, mushrooms, & onions - both are packed with flavor & perfectly cooked every time. You can tell they care about quality & consistency. The staff is always friendly & welcoming, & the cozy atmosphere makes it a great place to relax & enjoy an amazing meal.
Highly recommend this gem to anyone who appreciates authentic & delicious Japanese-Korean fusion cuisine!
I was looking for a Korean restaurant in Montreal & this place was a pleasant surprise. We got Korean fried chicken & beef udon bulgogi & they were very delicious. Coming from Toronto with many good Korean restaurants, I was so happy with the place & we are definitely coming back. They also have Sapporo on tap! 👍
Pretty good place. It seems very busy, we got lucky & had a table right away but we were just 2 & it was around 6PM on a Sunday. I ordered a bulgogi dolsot & it was decent. They were out of the japchae topping & replaced it with kimchi, but I found the flavour of their kimchi to be kind of odd & jarring (it tasted kind of like tomato flavour, somehow, it didn't taste like any other kind of kimchi I've had before & I've been to many Korean places). So my dish was pretty good overall, but I've had better elsewhere. My SO had the cheese dak galbi (chicken) yaki udon & liked it. But he wasn't a fan of the cold potato mash topping which felt out of place. He still liked his meal, though. Portions were generous & neither of us could finish, so you don't need to worry about that. Prices were very fair too & the service was excellent.
I had the bulgogi dolsot. They don't give you any of those side dishes like the other Korean restaurants, the food would be more enjoyable with some kimchi or other side dishes to go with, it ends up to be a bit greasy without something fresh to cleanse your palette. & there is no crunchy crispy rice at the bottom of the bowl, a bit disappointing in that matter. Service is fast.
🍽Food: 5/5 📍Place: 5/5 🤵Service: 5/5 💵Price: 5/5 Best bulgogi yaki udon in town! Great atmosphere & great Korean cuisine gives out a great night & an amazing experience. Totally recommended to anyone in love with Korean food
