I went to the restaurant at 5 p.m., & since it was still early, there was no need to wait in line. The staff were very friendly & professional. We ordered fried chicken, Japanese okonomiyaki, beef stone pot bibimbap, & a beef rice bowl. The food was served quickly, & the portions were generous. My mother & I were so full that we still couldn't finish everything. After noticing that we had finished our meal, the server proactively brought us takeout boxes. The restaurant is just as excellent as it was a few years ago when I last visited.
Went back after a few years & the portions seem to have shrunk a bit. I got the spicy pork bibimbap. The flavor was there & it was delicious, but there wasn't a lot of rice so it was a bit too salty & greasy.
The stone bowl was excessively hot, it made the rice too crispy & hard for my taste & the food didn't cool down even after 30 minutes. The experience wasn't enjoyable.
Went there for dinner. Cozy atmosphere. Music a bit too loud. But food is on point. Tried the chicken katsu curry. Chicken was fresh & the curry was simply delicious. Served with rice, mashed potatoes, & pickled ginger. Must try.
Had salmon on a rice bowl with salad. Delicious. Wil go back again for sure
Was in town (from Toronto) for the weekend & looking for some Korean/Japanese eats. Glad we stumbled upon this place as it was a hidden gem. I'm a big guy & usually can eat quite a bit, but man...the portions here were huge that I actually had to pack some food to bring back to the hotel. We ordered the pork katsu rice (curry) & chicken katsu rice (cream) it was on point! The free miso soup was kinda bland & didn't have any real flavour to it. (August 10, 2024)
First time here, got invited by a friend. Great cozy place, nice ambiance, polite staff. They have a not-so-big menu, just enough to try everything each time you visit them. i guess its their signature dishes which is perfect for me since i don't like tons of choices to choose from. My choice which was the pork donburi (stir-fried pork, rice, fried kimchi on the side, miso soup) it was delicious! My friend had the fried pork cutlet with rice. Yuummy.... beautiful presentation as well. only downside was the parking obviously since its in downtown, gotta find your street parking or! there is a paying parking lot right next to it which was $10 (i think this is better option since street parking ads up really fast by the hour) As a korean reviewing a korean/japanese restaurant,I will definitely go back & try their other dishes!
The food was ok but they were kind of expensive. We liked the fried rice cake appetizer the most along with the others. The chicken thigh udon bowl was ok but the flavor was not for me. Just a suggestion, in the shrimp tempura bowl, there should be more than 2 pieces of shrips in it.
** The reviews DOESN'T lie! ** It's honestly one of the best korean food that I've ate in Montreal. The appetizer rice cake was good...cripsy outside & chewy inside, sweet&salty & a little bit spicy at the same time. The Dak Galbi Dolsot bowl was flavourful, it came very hot too. The only''bad'' thing that I have to say is about the size of the restaurant: it's very small, cannot take a lot of people at the same time so if you don't reserve your place, you won't be able to enter or maybe you'll wait for a long time. Overall, I strongly recommend it!
I had the bulgogi dolsot. They don't give you any of those side dishes like the other Korean restaurants, the food would be more enjoyable with some kimchi or other side dishes to go with, it ends up to be a bit greasy without something fresh to cleanse your palette. & there is no crunchy crispy rice at the bottom of the bowl, a bit disappointing in that matter. Service is fast.
