Review Summary

Hof Kelsten is widely celebrated as a premier bakery in Montreal, consistently earning praise for its exceptional quality and variety. Patrons frequently highlight the bakery for having some of the best croissants and chocolate babka in the city, alongside a impressive selection of savory pastries and high-quality sandwiches like the brisket and egg salad. The coffee program, particularly the mocha and iced tea, is frequently noted as superior, and the inclusion of hearty items such as matzoh ball soup makes the menu stand out. While experiences with service and seating availability vary, many visitors describe the staff as kind, welcoming, and hospitable, making the bakery a must-visit destination for those seeking fresh, artisanal baked goods in an authentic neighborhood setting.

Croissants délectables, excellent sandwich déjeuner quoi que le 5$ en extra pour du bacon de veau est nettement exagéré.

Lovely coffee & the best croissant I've ever had! No photo of the croissant itself because we ate it too fast 😂 danish & almond brioche (pictured) were also delicious, but the plan croissant was perfection

Some friends recommended this place, but every time I've tried it, something has felt off.

I got a chocolatine around 3 p.m. & was told it was from today & still fresh. It was chewy, dry, & honestly tasted 2-3 days old. The chocolate inside also tasted cheap. At $4.88 with tax, it's expensive too.

Pretty disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it.

Great baked goods & food, & coffee is better than the average compared to nearby coffee shops around. The service lately has been pretty brutal. Slow, mistakes & rude.

If you can't get here by 10am don't bother. Have been 4-5 times. This time went at 1145. 3 pastries that tasted like they had been dunked in water. No crisp, no crunch, just mooshy soggy bad.

I will never again visit Montreal without stopping at this bakery. Absolutely fantastic. I learned about it because the restaurant we visited carried their pastries & had to check it out. The best selection of savoury pastries I think I have ever seen! & the chocolate babka is insanely good. I've only ever had good babka in New York City but now also here. & the zaatar twist pastry & everywhere pastry were both awesome. An absolute must! We ate a couple of pastries in & then some to go for the road home. Can't recommend enough.

Local MTL. First time coming to this place. Wanted to try the breakfast sandwich. Made with a different bread than English muffin. Not sure what it's called but it's good.

Ordered with $5 veal bacon by mistake. I apologized. They were so kind & made it on the house. It was worth it! Will definitely come back & get the veal bacon. Thanks guys!
