What an amazing & surprising experience! From the moment that we walked in to leaving with our stomachs full, this was a great dining experience.
The locally sourced menu changes seasonally so what we had might be unique to others' experiences! We had the trumpet mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, rabbit, & pork. The dishes were all VERY unique & all the ingredients were paired perfectly! Flavourful, creative, & delicious! We were also amazed that one of the staff came by the table to re-fold our napkin when we went to the bathroom!
The rare popular restaurant that combines incredibly delicious food with impeccable hospitality that was the most wonderfully accommodating. A member of our 6-person party surprised us by bringing 2 additional people along, & the team didn't make us feel uncomfortable at all-despite the new size usually implying their large party rules of tasting menu for all-& managed the situation by demonstrating flexibility & kindness that's rare to see these days. On top of that, the service throughout & the food itself was exemplary - oysters, challah, little gem, tomatoes, beef tartare, oyster mushroom, scallops, lobster, short rib - incredibly well done. & dessert of course ensured we left delighted after a truly outstanding experience.
Great dining experience! We went for lunch & ordered à la carte. Be prepared to order more plates than you'd think. The dishes are small but full of flavor. We ordered the challah bread, the sourdough, the oyster mushrooms, & the beef tartare (first photo). In the second photo, we had the scallops & the guinea fowl. I would happily reorder everything. Next time, I'd get the tasting menu because I now know all the items on the menu are reliably excellent.
Came here for dinner & had their tasting menu. I was impressed by the quality, taste & creativity of these dishes. Loved the mussel starter. The oyster mushroom was to die for. I had mixed feelings about the trout since the different sauces felt a little confusing & didn't really go well when mixed together, however, each component was executed well. The duck was very flavourful & had extra bread to soak up the sauce. Parsnip dessert was very creative & delicious. I enjoyed the texture & balance of this dish. Bonus points for the fact that it wasn't too sweet.
Excellent food, a bit noisy atmosphere but cozy Food: we got the mushrooms, tartare, challa bread, squash & fowl, & chocolate forest dessert 9/10 Atmosphere: table heights were weird, a bit loud, but cozy & vibrant atmosphere Service: excellent
Thoughtful attention to detail from food to service. I appreciated that very much. We were a group of 3 & had the tasting menu. We were served some of the dishes as one single serving & one shared serving for the two of us sitting on one side of the table. I thought that was weird....either serve three separate plates or one plate to be shared by all of us. My favorite was the mushroom & bread dish. My least favorite was the bitter lima bean plate. I would come again but probably order off the menu as opposed to the tasting menu.
Amazing place to begin our four day food odyssey of Montreal. Got a seat at the bar, just as we like it, & Cedric, bartender extraordinaire, made it a both fun & insightful evening. We picked the tasting menu & the accompanying wine menu. Oyster mushroom w whipped feta; lobster with zucchini & coconut milk; guinea fowl & dumplings with liver of the fowl to name just a few of the six sharing servings. Great food. Great service. Neighborhood feel. Restaurant Hélicoptère in Hochelaga, just 25 min in car from downtown Montreal.
Helicopter soars on inventive dishes hovering over the freshest seasonal ingredients & local artisans. The 9 course tasting menu is the best way to sample the prowess of the kitchen, although there could be some misses (ie charred rapini was overly bitter) in the bunch. But most shine, notably their signature roasted mushrooms with buttery croutons on a house smoked feta smear. & while the bread might seem like a side-show, it deserves a spotlight coming from the sourdough masters at sister bakery Aube.
We enjoyed the tasting menu & I am still dreaming about the feta & mushroom dish. It was out of this world.
Wow wow wow I think this is one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal! Amazing food, great service & really nice atmosphere. There are lots of vegetarian options- I particularly liked the oyster mushrooms!
