The icy treats of this Jean-Talon Market staple will have your mouth watering no matter what the season. Ice cream and sorbet come in three sizes of cups or cones.
Havre aux Glaces draws mixed notes from reviewers, with a long queue and prices that feel high for scoops, though flavors come across as rich and ingredient-forward, featuring visible pistachio and a strong matcha while some cones taste a bit burnt and portions feel small for the cost. Many praise the sorbets and the best sorbet flavors, with seasonal rotations that keep trying something new on each visit. The shop offers a wide range of dairy-free options, which is appreciated by lactose intolerant guests. Some descriptions frame the product as artisanal ice cream rather than gelato, with flavor profiles that taste very real and include pistachio, hazelnut, and caramel or maple variations. There is no seating inside, but the market setting provides nearby picnic tables, even in winter. A pink grapefruit sorbet in a half-liter portion is highlighted, and overall flavors are consistently delicious, even if some find the price and portion size a touch high.
There's always a long queue when I passed by, so I decided to give it a try. It was expensive that $8 for 2 scoops but they were tasteful, seems like using a lot of ingredients as almost every lick I can see a whole pistachio in it & heavy matcha taste. Doesn't feel too sweet to me but I felt the cone tasted a little burned.
I would still recommend to try it yourself & enjoy the burst of flavors from the ingredients.

It tastes so real! Super tasty flavor bombs! I took pistachio (best I ever had), hazelnut & some caramel or maple one. It's weird that people call it gelato because she said it's artisanal ice cream. Gelato has no cream & more sugar. They were kind & let me taste a few. I picked a cup instead of cone. No place to sit but it's at jean-talon market, & there are pic nic rables nearby even in winter.
I don't know how they're able to contain all that flavour in a small cup, but it's just one of the most flavourful ice creams I've ever seen. They do capture the essence of the ingredient without fillers. My favourites are the brûlée caramel & chocolate. When they have porcini ice cream, run towards them. It is unusual but very delicious with all the umami
