The staff are welcoming, contributing to the overall positive atmosphere. Their rewards system is a clever touch, ensuring you'll want to come back. Highlights for me included the irresistibly creamy corn & the perfectly marinated beef flank. It's a spot that's got the formula down for both returning patrons & first-timers alike.
Our first time there on the 5th of feb was AMAZING. The waiter who i sadly can't remember his name- he was tall i think his name started with an A? Aldon? Not sure- took the time to explain the menu & give his recommendations & everything went smoothly. The second time though on the 18th of feb was a disaster. The waiter just gave us the menus & was no where to be found. Someone else took our orders & then someone else gave us the food & the someone else gave us the check & the machine happened to be with another person. By the time we were leaving, our waiter finally showed up running after us asking if we paid the bill? I didn't see the waiter running after anyone else but us. Not sure is it a racial thing or not. It was very messy & disappointing. I had a reservation booked both times.
Excellent quality food, the service was great, the people were kind.
While it is on the pricey side, you definitely get what you pay for. The flavouring in the meat was AMAZING & the sushis did not fail to amaze. The garlic noodles were also very addicting. It is definitely a place for very special occasions when you would like to splurge, but OH IS IT WORTH IT.
Food was great, don't let the waiter fool you though, you will have plenty enough food for 2 by taking the 2 person menu. Service was really not great though, felt like he was really trying to push us to just spend more for no reason, then was rude when getting the bill.
I have been in a few of them its pretty much all the same. Ones in a blue its ok to go.
The cuts of meat had a lot of fat, & were not the easiest to grill, leading to them burning
Looking for a last minute place to enjoy some Japanese food, we didn't know what to expect from Gyu-Kaku (I guess we should do some research before hand...) but were pleasantly surprised by the result. This is clearly a popular place being located on Crescent just below Ste. Catherine, especially with university students. The dining style is cook-it-yourself meats & shrimps with some veggies. The menu is ridiculously large (see pictures) but help guide you through the multiple options. We chose the Holiday Magic Course multi dish option for two (even though there were three of us) & there was plenty of food to enjoy. The servings are mostly different types & cuts of meats (skirt steak, pork, hanger steak, kalbi short rib, & the like (see picture of YAKINIKU HOLIDAY MENU for details). The food kept coming & there was no break as we cooked, ate then received more food. We were stuffed at the end. Overall it was good & alot of fun but I am not necessarily a fan of having to monitor my own meal as I eat (but that's just me). The food quality is good, not out of this world but still tasty. Also, there are other cooked meal options like noodles & veggies if you prefer. I liked the service team a lot as everyone took care of us...it wasn't assigned seats per server just ask who ever was passing & they would take care of you. It worked very well & added to the enjoyment. This is a place best for 4 or more people rather than a couples night. Enjoy!
Food was good, service was helpful since ordering is confusing if you didn't know the place. The music was so loud that conversation was near impossible.
