I know the truth, I am but a plebeian Peasent, while I have done well tilling the meagar land given to me by my sovereign leaders, I have not yet risen to the station of being permitted to attend the the fine establishments where our overlords frequent. Attending this place, however, is like stumbing upon a crumb that has fallen from our masters table, a gem that had slipped from the treasure trove & not yet been noticed by the powers that be. For one as myself this was an experience that my descendants will treasure in the collective memories for generations! My infiltration was difficult, & I suspect they are on to me. The first test, one of literacy was easy, despite my hesitation. They had an arrow at what appeared to be the entrance pointing to the left, above it it said "Entrance". Following this arrow led me down a long dark hallway which increased my concern I would be found out, while also invoking feelings of exclusivity & high status. Thankfully we were greeted by a jewel of a hostess asking us for our reservation with a magical smile, before my nerves gave out. Upon sitting down I made my first blunder, the waiter, Diego, said "Flat water or sparkling?" Not expecting this test I yet rose to occasion & said "Peirrior or Club soda bubbly?" To this the waiter looked at me with confusion & said "S.Pellegrino sir." I then realized my blunder: only peasents like myself drink club soda when pretending to be fancy. The waitress, Mary, who came after, however, did not have a chance to receive the notification of my mistake, so suspected nothing. The menu was a treasure trove of incredible eats & foods that were foreign to my humble palette. While there was a distinct lack of pictures in the menu (thankfully my grade 3 teacher had taught me the animal & plant words) they had everything from Lobster Spaghetti to AAA ALBERTA BEEF BLACK ANGUS GROWN STRAIGHT FROM THE GROUND WITH THE FINEST HERBS & SPICES. However they had an option for shared whole table variety! My fellow co-consipators & I chose that option. They saved me from literacy blunder by pointing out that the price on the menu was per person, not per table. Words are hard & tricky inventions of wizards & accountants to keep the common man down The food was incredible, a flavor adventure of imagination & food sorecery if the highest level. Appetizers were divine drops of dews from the heavens, oysters arranged in a circle ready for us to consume them the way our overlords consume our labor, & a green sauce that might be made of avocado & olive oil, two fruits from two diffenent parts of the world coming together in a collision that was not available without the pirate extermination of 1952. & Millenials loving avocado toast. Dam Millenials always miss the true combinations. Avocados pair better with olive oil than toast. Finally the dessert did us in. We all lost our composure & fought like animals over the delight before us! At this point the waitress said "your reservation time is over sir" to which point I looked at the wonderful decor, reminiscent of a luxury pub from the industrial revolution, with a saltwater tank, & electricity, & modern day people. & RAN- To pay of course. Oh & the Baked octopus was my favorite. Don't steal it from my plate Shanel.
This place is an absolute must if you're looking for a fantastic atmosphere, delicious food, & exceptional service. The valet service was a lifesaver-finding parking in Montreal can be a challenge, so it made our visit even smoother. Special shoutout to our server, Benjamin, who guided us effortlessly through the menu & made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the Tomahawk for three, which came with lobster, shrimp, scallops, & three side dishes. The cheddar mash was incredible-a must-have! The steak was perfectly seasoned, & every bite was full of flavor. I'd happily order it again. Portion-wise, it was just right for two people (or maybe we just have a hearty appetite, haha!). For dessert, we went with Benjamin's recommendation, a Montreal favorite. I don't remember the name, but it was a delightful warm dessert paired with cold ice cream-a perfect combination. To top it all off, we were treated to complimentary espresso shots, a wonderful way to end the meal. Overall, everything was perfect. The service made us feel right at home, & we left with full hearts & full stomachs. Highly recommended!

I was told about this place, & I'm so happy I took the chance to go, the waitress was called Danaelle. A beautiful blonde girl so sweet, sweeter than any dessert they have. She was so caring. She is really good & we had such a good time there. I miss it already I'll be back soon for sure. It's now my favourite place in mtl. Thanks to Danaelle for that. Words can't describe so you should see for yourself! Enjoy
Beau restaurant !
The atmosphere was great, slightly loud because of the amount of people though. Originally, my New York strip steak was slightly overcooked (asked for a medium rare & got medium well done) but it was instantly recooked by the chef at no extra cost & all our food tasted great. Would recommend the NYS steak & the filet mignon. We visited for a birthday & the friendly staff provided us with a complimentary birthday dessert, at the end of our meal, made with maple syrup which was insanely good. One thing you should note is definitely take a reservation in advance if you plan to come with groups as the place does get quite busy. More on the expensive side but totally worth it.
This is a must visit for anyone traveling to Montreal looking for a nice cocktail, excellent service, a perfect steak & a wonderful time. Our service was spectacular, the 3 person option for the steak was delicious & perfect for our party. A perfectly cooked 40oz Tomahawk steak, 3 half lobster tails, 3 shrimp, 3 scallops, 3 sides & a beautiful dessert. I feel like I could've got a lot more sides. Everyone was here for a great experience & we got that. The kitchen was busy. Espresso martini was astounding. The sauces that came with the meat: bbq, chimmichurri, red wine, & hot pepper sauce. The tomahawk came with the bone & of course we all took a nice bite of the meat left on the bone. Only way to do it if you're going to come to a place like this & enjoy yourself. 10/10 will come again.

Great food & ambiance. The cream of tomatoe soup was good & tasted a bit like a rosé sauce. The focaccia that came with the burrata tasted like a good hot dog bread (a bit too thick), but the burrata had good flavours surrounding it. The vegetarian option was pretty good (mushroom meatballs). They tasted like a mushroom giant falafel, the pea purée & the apple salad & vinaigrette accompanied it well. Last of all, the dessert platter. Ice cream was regular but went well with the fudge brownie, which was decadent & the pudding chomeur (really good). The cheesecake was average. Overall, it is a good option for vegeterians but a bit pricey for the quality given.
I went for the first time last night & ordered the rib steak. Unfortunately this was the worst rib steak I've ever had - tough, chewy & flavourless. I really wish I had sent it back - for the price this should be an amazingly cut. My friends shared the tomahawk & it was way better - everyone tasted my steak & agreed it was terrible. I wish the server had come & asked how everything was & I would have sent it back but she never came. The pudding Chomeur & vanilla soft serve was noteworthy & delicious. I would come back again just for that dessert & the tomahawk I sadly watched my friends eat with envy. The vibe is great too & the manager was also exceptional, giving us a bottle of wine on the house & a complimentary dessert platter after our server spilled wine on my friend. Overall, Grinder is still worthwhile despite my bad steak & all my friends enjoyed their meals.
Merci
An awesome restaurant with excellent customer service ! We made last minute reservations & the staff was super welcoming & kind. We ordered French red wine which was incredible followed by fried calamari for appetizers. For the meal, I had the 1/2 chicken leg while my partner had Bavette de Boeuf & it was so tasty ! We savoured each bite :) The best part was definitely the dessert as we had the pudding chomeur & it's beyond perfection! Highly recommend the food & the restaurant! Located in the trendy Griffintown neighborhood it is a place to bring your friends & enjoy the hospitality of an incredible staff at Le Grinder :) A 11/10 culinary experience for us :)

This review is more directed towards large groups looking to dine here with their "set menu" First to start off...the food & staff were amazing. Nobody had anything bad to say about the meals & the timing everything was brought out. What i have a BIG problem with, was the price for the set menu. Our set menu price was $75.00 a head. That gave a choice of 1 appetizer, 1 main & a communal dessert for the table. After looking at the standard menu, on the HIGH end if someone ordered the most expensive options it was $60.00...on the low end $41.00....that is a MASSIVE difference. Also, the dessert was 1 slice of cake...a bowl of ice cream, a small lava cake & a bread style pudding to share between 5 people..so what they are saying is that the dessert option is on average $15-$20.00 a head This is an AWFUL deal & i wish i would have known about this before i would have never chosen to come here for a group dinner. SO if you are planning on using one of their set menus for a group dinner..just be advised you are getting price gouged for getting absolutely nothing extra. My recommendation is to find somewhere else for your group outing...but to come just for a regular dinner off their regular menu, i would recommend Grinder.
August 14 made reservations for 8 but was unaware that the reservations was for 2 hours only. When it came time to order dessert the waiter told us that if we wanted dessert we had 15 minutes to eat it because our time was up & that they needed the table for other clients.I asked to speak to the manager who aggravated me even more with her condescending attitude insinuating that we were told.I very politely told her that the people I was with were regulars at Grinder & never heard of such a thing & that it was my first time & surely my last time .After pointing out that we were not there for just coffee & cake .We had spent $650.00 & if not having put a time limit on our stay we could of very well spent another 2 to 3 hundred dollars more.I would of understood if it was closing time because it is only normal that one wants to go home after a long & hard day's work,Not the case here. Her attitude very unprofessional & very insulting for paying clients. Therefore in order to avoid unnecessary frustrations a well exposed sign should be place at the front door indicating their 2 hour policy. Never again!
I loved this restaurant! The ambiance was very cool & the food was outstanding! They serve the best apple pie dessert ever! You will not be disappointed if you give this restaurant a shot! the Valet parking comes in handy as well! :-)
Premiere fois au grinder
Ambiance vraiment sympa
Nourriture bonne
