Ginkgo Café Bar is widely appreciated for its beautiful, sunlit atmosphere and flavorful menu, particularly its popular brunch items like pancakes, poutine, and unique egg dishes. While many guests enjoy the cozy, aesthetic vibe and find the food delicious and generous in portion, experiences remain inconsistent due to fluctuating service standards. Common feedback highlights the need for better staff coordination, cleaner dining areas, and more consistent attention to detail regarding menu accuracy and service timing. Despite some mixed feelings regarding pricing and occasional lapses in professionalism, many visitors find it a convenient and enjoyable spot for a casual coffee, meal, or happy hour, especially given its location.
Nourriture assez bonne & endroit très vivant. Prix un peu élevé. Même s'il se trouve dans un pavillon de l'UQAM, ne vous méprenez pas, ce n'est pas du tout un bon endroit pour étudier.
Absolutely TERRIBLE service, not only did we get sat at a table but then had to ask for service to even get waters + coffees out which took 20 minutes & the place was not even busy.
We then had to ask for if our food is ready after we waiting for 45 minutes AGAIN. We didn't order something complicated either. We got 2 eggs Benedict's.
To top it off, we never got our waters filled or even asked how our food was. I had to leave a zero tip because I was that disgusted in the service.
What a joke & a waste of time, don't bother spending your money here. It's a joke. Never had this bad of service at a restaurant in my life.
I've never left a review before in my life, but I felt like I had to this time.
Do not come to this establishment unless you want to be disappointed. The few times I've been here, the service has been consistently slow & poor. The bathrooms are dirty, & they refuse to serve customers before the restaurant's posted closing time.
Today, I even called ahead to make sure I would be able to come in at 2:30. I was told over the phone that it would be fine, but when I arrived, I was turned away at the door.
Save yourself the frustration & spend your money elsewhere. There are much better brunch spots, like Big Trouble, Arthur's, or even Allô! Mon Coco.
i was genuinely surprised by this place. i'm a big brunch person & have tried more than 10 different brunch spots around Montreal, & unfortunately, this was probably my least favorite experience so far.
the food was disappointing, & the service was surprisingly poor, especially considering how busy & popular the place seemed to be. the atmosphere wasn't really for me either, & honestly, i left wondering why it was so crowded.
maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but based on my experience, i wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a great brunch with good food & service. there are much better brunch options around Montreal.
We waited for almost an hour for the food (40-45 min). There were 3 of us & only 2 of us got our food while the last person waited a while longer. The food was ok not great. The service was ok they didn't refill our water the whole time we were there.
The glasses were dirty, the service was super slow even tho the restaurant wasn't full, one of the waiters ignored me more than once (he wear glasses)
This was the third time & the last time I come here
Come here only if you have a lot of time. Got here at noon. Ordered at 12:30. Drink came around 12:50, we got food at 1:25. The food was subpar. Never received any water.
