Gibeau Orange Julep is such a fun & iconic spot in Montréal. The giant orange building is unique & their famous orange drink is definitely worth trying!
If you're visiting Montréal, you should also explore beautiful places like Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal & relax at Beaver Lake on Mount Royal.
Also nearby on Jean-Talon, I recommend Tastybits for delicious Indian-Italian style pizza. Great food & a nice stop after exploring the city!
Must stop in Montreal! Awesome poutine & of course the orange drink, smash burger & hot dog was great too!
Iconic place to go & taste there special drink. You go there once a while because the prices are very high.
Gibeau Orange Julep is an absolute must-visit spot in Montreal! The atmosphere is incredibly unique with that iconic giant orange structure-it feels like stepping back in time. Their signature Orange Julep drink is creamy, refreshing, & unlike anything else I've ever tasted. You also have to try the poutine; the fries are perfectly crispy & the gravy is rich & flavorful. It's the perfect place for classic comfort food & a fun retro vibe. I can't wait to go back!
The juice is tooo sweet = too much more
sugar than normal orange juice. No place to sit down to drink. No service but tips are to be paid on their cashier machine
An iconic Montreal stop!
Gibeau Orange Julep is a must-visit, & it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The orange drink is the star - perfectly sweet, creamy, & incredibly refreshing. It has that classic nostalgic flavour you can't find anywhere else, & it's worth the visit alone.
The poutine was also very satisfying: crispy fries, generous cheese curds, & a rich, flavourful gravy that ties everything together. It's comforting, classic Quebec fast food done right.
Add in the fun atmosphere & the famous giant orange, & you've got a uniquely Montreal experience. Whether you're a local or visiting for the first time, Orange Julep is always a great stop.
Their drinks are creamy, refreshing, & perfectly sweet-perfect for a quick pick-me-up or a nostalgic snack. Always leaves me smiling & wanting more.
Food: 5/5
Fantastic flavors & great quality across the board. The orange drink had a unique twist that honestly stole the show.
Service: 5/5
Fast, smooth, & friendly - the staff kept everything moving like a well-oiled machine.
Atmosphere: 3/5
Winter didn't help the vibe. The merch was cool, but the interior felt a bit plain this time around. Excited to see how things look in the summer, so I'll update when I return.
Overall:
A satisfying & enjoyable experience with tasty food, refreshing drinks, & very welcoming staff.
The orange drink tastes so delicious & every time visit here during our trip to Montreal. At times the queue is so long & sometimes pretty quick. Unable to predict the crowd
I should have known this place wasn't worth the hype the moment I noticed almost everyone inside was a tourist. We seemed to be the only locals…& I can see why. We came because my sister-in-law saw someone on social media claim it was the best poutine in the city. I wish she remembered which influencer, because that recommendation clearly isn't worth trusting.
The food itself? Pure fast-food level. The poutine was strictly mid-tier, & none of the three of us walked away impressed. The only point of debate was the orange juice. My companions found it decent (not amazing, just decent). I thought it tasted like sugar water with a token splash of orange. To be fair, they're the type who drink Pepsi like it's tap water, so heavily sweetened, artificial flavors appeal to them in a way I'll never understand.
If that sounds like your taste, then maybe this place will work for you. But if you're looking for genuinely good poutine or fresh juice, save your time.
The Julep drink is good, cheeseburger was less so. Had mustard pickles onions & relish after saying to put everything on it. Asked for a side of gravy & never got it. Place is swarming in wasps. $50 for two cheeseburger trios.
Their famous orange drink recipe is such a closely guarded secret that they wouldnt tell me if there's dairy in it or not. So i guess ill never know what im missing. For those with any food intolerances or allergies, probably best to skip it, just to be safe
That said, one of the best toastés in town
Orange Julep. If you were wondering if you went to the right spot just look for the massive orange sphere! Orange Julep gives you a classic old time feel to it. You know it's a classic when you pull up on a Saturday at 5:30 pm & there is a full parking lot with cars. The service was really good especially with our slight language barrier. I purchased the large Orange Julep which ran me just under $12 CAD. watching 10 gallons of this stuff get purchased before I got up to order seemed like a good sign... Unfortunately I didn't think it was very good. It tastes like below average orange juice mixed with some below average milk. It was fine enough to drink 3/4 of it so I wasn't just throwing $12 down the drain but I did struggle to throw it back. A friend of mine ordered an Orange Julep & requested ice cream to go in his, & I must say if you come here that is definitely the way to go. With ice cream you deliver a milkshake type drink with a refreshing orange essence to it. Lastly, another friend got Hot Dogs & Fries & the Hot Dogs looked very good & he claims tasted just as good so if you want some quick'snack bar' food this may be the place for you. Overall it was a fun experience & fun environment & I'm glad I went. Make sure you get ice cream in your Orange Julep!
We enjoyed the orange juice but strongly advise against drinking it if you're lactose intolerant or have milk allergies. Although not confirmed by the staff we suspect it contains milk.
