About

Gibeau Orange Julep serves as a legendary roadside landmark defined by its oversized orange sphere architecture. The menu focuses on classic casse-croute staples including thick-cut fries and hearty burgers prepared for quick service. Its signature offering is the creamy, secret-recipe orange drink, a distinct citrus nectar that anchors the entire culinary identity of the establishment. Patrons consume these meals within a sprawling parking lot that retains a vintage mid-century atmosphere. The operational model prioritizes efficient delivery of high-calorie comfort foods without the need for traditional table service. This establishment functions as an essential cultural touchstone for residents and travelers alike seeking an authentic taste of local fast food history. The unique visual aesthetic combined with a consistent, uncomplicated menu makes this site a recognizable destination for those craving standard American snack bar fare.

Review Summary

Gibeau Orange Julep is widely regarded as an iconic Montreal landmark, primarily celebrated for its unique giant orange architecture and its legendary, creamy signature orange drink. Many visitors find the atmosphere nostalgic and retro, often enjoying the lively environment where car and bike enthusiasts frequently gather. While the signature beverage is a major draw for its distinct, sweet, and creamy flavor profile, opinions on the food are mixed; some patrons praise the hot dogs and poutine as classic comfort food, while others find the menu overpriced and the quality inconsistent. Service is generally described as efficient and quick, though experiences with staff friendliness vary. Despite some criticisms regarding high prices and the presence of wildlife in outdoor eating areas, the establishment remains a must visit destination for those seeking a quintessential Montreal experience.

Came here for the legend orange juice during the sunset, worth the view. It was a little bit of a wait & the juice didn't meet my expectation very much. Overall still pretty good.

Expensive doesn't even begin to describe it. Service & food is good, but the $$$ is not worth it.

Hope this place will close, the new owners are againts the car culture, gibeau became what they are because of the car enthousiats that would meet there to talk & drink the shitty orange juice they sell.

Dont go there this is not the good ol julep from back in the days.

Everything is overpriced now & the juice is not good anymore

A Montreal institution & whats not to like visiting a giant orange ball!.

Park up in the car park & its like a'50s diner with period music playing.

Visit for the whipped orange juice which has a sweet taste & smooth consistency. Follow it up with poutine, burgers, hot dogs & fries. Lots of seating outside all around the outside.

Definitely a place to visit & experience if you are visiting Montreal.
