Getting a taste of Montreal history at the giant orange! 🍊✨
You can't say you've truly experienced the city until you've pulled up to Gibeau Orange Julep. Since 1932, this iconic 40-foot concrete orange has been serving up its legendary, creamy secret-recipe juice that tastes like a marshmallow cloud in a cup. ☁?🥤
Whether you're here for the vintage vibes, the classic poutine, or just to marvel at one of the world's quirkiest roadside attractions, it's a Montreal rite of passage. Pro tip: It's even better at sunset when the sphere starts to glow! 🌅

Gibeau Orange Julep is an absolute must-visit spot in Montreal! The atmosphere is incredibly unique with that iconic giant orange structure-it feels like stepping back in time. Their signature Orange Julep drink is creamy, refreshing, & unlike anything else I've ever tasted. You also have to try the poutine; the fries are perfectly crispy & the gravy is rich & flavorful. It's the perfect place for classic comfort food & a fun retro vibe. I can't wait to go back!
An iconic Montreal stop!
Gibeau Orange Julep is a must-visit, & it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The orange drink is the star - perfectly sweet, creamy, & incredibly refreshing. It has that classic nostalgic flavour you can't find anywhere else, & it's worth the visit alone.
The poutine was also very satisfying: crispy fries, generous cheese curds, & a rich, flavourful gravy that ties everything together. It's comforting, classic Quebec fast food done right.
Add in the fun atmosphere & the famous giant orange, & you've got a uniquely Montreal experience. Whether you're a local or visiting for the first time, Orange Julep is always a great stop.
It is really good experienced to enjoy fresh squeeze oranges juice. It is worth to enjoy while going montreal . Even my friends tried poutine which was classic poutine ( vegetarian)
The food & vibe are always great - it's such a fun & nostalgic spot. I really enjoy coming here & always look forward to the experience.
That said, I do feel like a warmer interaction at the counter would've made it even better. I completely understand that everyone has busy days, especially in fast-paced food service, but a small smile or kind tone goes a long way in making guests feel welcome.
Still a classic spot I'll return to - just hoping for a bit more warmth next time!
Orange Julep. If you were wondering if you went to the right spot just look for the massive orange sphere! Orange Julep gives you a classic old time feel to it. You know it's a classic when you pull up on a Saturday at 5:30 pm & there is a full parking lot with cars. The service was really good especially with our slight language barrier. I purchased the large Orange Julep which ran me just under $12 CAD. watching 10 gallons of this stuff get purchased before I got up to order seemed like a good sign... Unfortunately I didn't think it was very good. It tastes like below average orange juice mixed with some below average milk. It was fine enough to drink 3/4 of it so I wasn't just throwing $12 down the drain but I did struggle to throw it back. A friend of mine ordered an Orange Julep & requested ice cream to go in his, & I must say if you come here that is definitely the way to go. With ice cream you deliver a milkshake type drink with a refreshing orange essence to it. Lastly, another friend got Hot Dogs & Fries & the Hot Dogs looked very good & he claims tasted just as good so if you want some quick'snack bar' food this may be the place for you. Overall it was a fun experience & fun environment & I'm glad I went. Make sure you get ice cream in your Orange Julep!
This spot stands out for good reason - its visually striking, open late, serves up massive portions with a twist on classic desserts, & has plenty of space to dine on-site along withan expansive parking lot. The poutines & frappé drinks are pricey for the portion sizes, but worth the treat. Service is efficient & the staff work relatively quickly to get your order ready. Worth visiting!
It was very loud, lots of people rebind their engines & THE POLICE WERE CALLED. I only tried the classic Orange Julep drink, which tasted like a creamsicle, & i HATE creamsicles 😭
if you like creamsicles though it's a great drink!
Forget fancy, this is pure nostalgia. The iconic "Big Orange" serves up simple pleasures done right. Their steamed hot dogs are perfectly cooked, with that classic snap. & the Orange Julep? A creamy, dreamy, slightly tangy orange drink that's uniquely Montreal. Grab a classic combo & enjoy a taste of the city's history.
An impressive tourist spot featuring a giant orange. I really enjoy their classic fries, & the orange juice is deliciously sweet. While it is somewhat pricey, I believe it's worth it.
Greasy spoon. The hot dogs were classic & the julep is good, if a bit too sweet for me
Classic establishment. Fast service. Fries a bit too soggy, somewhat sweet
Overall, The Orange Julep is a staple in Montreal, & when arriving- you must have a classic Julep - an experience like no other. Asides from that, I really wouldn't recommend this spot more than a one time thing. The prices are abit exaggerated. For example, for 2 Small Poutines w. Juleps.. it was 40$ without tip. One time thing..
Really cool drive in style eatery. They have ample seating with lots of benches around the orange. Not too much covered seating though. Their hot dogs were delicious with a nice buttery toasted & lots of toppings. Poutine was classic large squeaky cheese curds with nice crispy fries. Their orange drink was interesting reminiscent of orange julius but smoother & you can taste the pulp in it so it has real ingredients in it! Definitely a staple of montreal.
This is a historical drive in style restaurant that dates back decades where servers were going to your car with roller skates & bringing trays of food like that of the old A&W drive in that still exists in the USA. With the original owners out of the picture, current ownership has done a good job to not compromise on quality - though they have also not been shy on their pricing either!!!! This being stated there is nothing like starting the summer off with the roof down in the car, eating an orange julep, a nice fresh crisp French fry, & a grilled hot dog. This is one of the best places to go for hot dog, French fries & flat top hamburgers. Other foods are also good but it's the classics that most people enjoy. It's quite nostalgic. Even to date, visit OJ on a Wednesday evening & all the motor-heads come & show off their cars & motorcycle to admiring eyes it's a blast from the past. This is a must for a tourist & a must for all locals to start their summer.
This is definitely a classic Montreal staple. I will admit the quality of food/increase of price has changed over the years. I am also bummed by the fact that half of the parking lot is now a seating area, which used to be a hangout spot for vintage cars/motorcycles, etc.. The experience of visiting the giant orange is a must, but I do know there are better options for hotdogs & poutines in Montreal. To be noted, the staff was friendly!

C'est pas la grosse gastronomie mais c'est bon..je me suis tenue aux Classic hot dog ,Poutine & jus d'orange..les enfants aiment ça.. c'est un lunch rapide & pas cher. Je vais sans doute y retourner si je passe par la
