Review Summary

Gibeau Orange Julep is an iconic Montreal landmark that offers a nostalgic and unique dining experience centered around its famous, signature orange drink, which many describe as a creamy, sweet, and refreshing treat reminiscent of an orange creamsicle. Visitors often enjoy the retro diner atmosphere, the convenience of the large parking area, and the opportunity to gather with friends or family, particularly at night. While some patrons find the menu items like hot dogs and poutine to be satisfying comfort food, others suggest focusing primarily on the legendary beverage. Although opinions on pricing and food quality vary, the distinctive giant orange structure remains a must-visit destination for those looking to experience a classic piece of local history and culture.

Some people love the foods & drinks here. Some others hate them if you live long enough in MTL (& its surrounding) to meet a bunch of those people. Personally, I love their poutine & orange juice. It is cozy & it reminds me of my childhood. It reminds me of all the good times I was there with my family & friends. Never had a bad time. We brought our own ugly cars but we never annoyed anyone there. Do not go there expecting a fresh orange juice. It's a very sweet creamy version of Julius Orange from DQ but not exactly the same. Hard to describe. Their poutine is among my favorites. Their cheese curds are of lower quality in my opinion, because they melt when they're in contact with the boiling sauce & they don't squeak much. Their sauce is fairly good. Their fries are golden brown homemade Québec rural-style yummy & slightly sweet. 5 Stars regardless for all of its uniqueness.

Went with a few friends last Saturday around noon & the classic Julep with a hot dog toppe still totally hits the spot after all these years. The parking lot was packed but they keep things moving fast even with the crowd. Sat outside at one of the picnic tables & just people watched for a while, that whole retro orange dome vibe never gets old. Staff at the window were quick & friendly even during the lunch rush, honestly perfect spot for a lazy weekend hangout.

The poutine was surprisingly good! The fries are thinner, a bit crispy at the edges, the cheese squeaks, & the gravy is pretty decent! Definitely a B tier poutine overall.

Ordered a small orange julep as well to cut the richness of the poutine. It was just alright, considering the price. It's just creamy orange juice at the end of the day... With a small drink, the straw is comically long. Felt like I was taking a sip in a different timezone.

$17 before tip for a small poutine & a small orange julep. All in all, pretty expensive for what it is. Especially in this economy...

Happy I tried it though, it's such an iconic spot in Montreal.

it's like right out of a movie; this is kind of the canadian equivalent of randy's donuts to me . the food is very fast food-y & the quality is obviously meh but sometimes that's the only thing that makes sense. except for the pogo. that was really good.

the hot dog was petite & the sausage way too salty (but the bun was soft & nicely toasted) , but the pogo was seriously scrumptious. it was so hot & fresh, & had a doughy, thick batter. needed some ketchup/mayo for flavour though.

their signature orange julep was like a milkier, creamier, & sweeter version of fresh orange juice - not really like orange julius's drink, like i was expecting. not bad though

the poutine was good too, with super squeaky curds & a savoury, salty gravy drenched over some thin fries.

A Montreal institution & whats not to like visiting a giant orange ball!.

Park up in the car park & its like a'50s diner with period music playing.

Visit for the whipped orange juice which has a sweet taste & smooth consistency. Follow it up with poutine, burgers, hot dogs & fries. Lots of seating outside all around the outside.

Definitely a place to visit & experience if you are visiting Montreal.

Definitely a must-visit when you're in Montreal, especially if you're visiting from out of province. Their famous orange juice was fresh, cold, & really tasty.

Service was quick & the staff were friendly. Plus, the giant orange building itself makes the stop worth it. Definitely one of those classic Montreal spots you have to experience at least once!

This place was easily the worst fast food establishment I've ever visited in CANADA. For one, the prices for simple menu items are incredibly high & absurdly overpriced for what you get- a tiny hot dog, a undressed dry burger, &'fries' that are actually just fried scraps of potatoes. Second, the server we had was extremely rude the entire we were ordering, & when we asked for a cup for taking our ice cream to-go, he said no & told us we would need to pay for one (after spending over $60 on four items). Lastly, the food was honestly terrible & you are better off going to the McDonalds across the street

Food was ready & sitting on the counter for 15 minutes & got cold when several other people who ordered after me got their food before me. I had to complain to get my food when it was just sitting there on the counter the whole time. Also my order came with a side coleslaw & they didn't provide a fork. Fries were cold & bland with no salt. Very poorly organized & the overall delivery needs to do much better. Will never return to this place.
