Je recommande vraiment ce restaurant ! La nourriture était excellente & le vin également :) Notre serveur était très professionnel & attentif au moindre détail pour que notre diner se passe pour le mieux. Le point moins agréable est que le restaurant est un peu bruyant. Malgré tout si vous êtes de passage a Montréal je vous recommande vraiment cet endroit !View more

The Monte Carlo potato was delicious. Steak IGA quality. Very tough & fatty for a New York strip. Bread at the beginning average grocery store quality. Pickles whatever. Blue cheese wedge was kind of tasteless. Our waiter was super nice. He forgot a few things but the ambiance was so warm & cozy that it wasn't a big deal. He was also very polite about it. The coat check was kind of slow.View more

Was a disappointing experience. We've heard a lot of good things about Gibby's & had high expectations, but I don't think we will ever return. The dining room has nice ambience but it was cold since the restaurant is old & does not have good isolation or maybe the heaters are not powerful enough. the server has changed our table & made us sit next to the heater which is nice. The bathroom is very dated & doesn't seem to match the price we are paying for dinner. The major disappointment is the steaks. We are 4 so we ordered 2sirloin, 1 rib steak & 1 fillet mignon. All of them are under seasoned, dry, & like rubber. The steaks are pretty thick & we ordered either rare or medium rare. I can see the meat were cooked uneven. They also seem to be cold & the plate was not heated. Our server was nice & she changed my boyfriend's dish for another cut of meat because he didn't like his plate at all, but the replacement was also mediocre, blend & rubbery. It was my parents who is treating us so we didn't want to appear too picky. When I told the waitress our steak has not taste she brought more spices & asked us to put salt on it. I don't think i should season my own steak at the restaurant but I guess she tried the best she can do. The service was the only thing that kind of matches the price of the restaurant.View more

We dined at Gibbys during a family trip to Montreal. After making reservations months in advance, (we live in the U.S), Gibbys was absolutely the highlight a of our trip. My parents have been to Gibbys before during their anniversary & insisted we visit again due to the outstanding steak & incredible atmosphere. However, we were extremely underwhelmed by the service. Server did not offer any help with the cocktail menu as we wanted to order things that appeared to be "not possible" (we ordered a Moscow mule, no suggestions of anything similar, just a "no"). One of our diners is a picky eater, we called before to see if rice could be served as a side, which they insisted it could. Our server denied this being a possibility & didn't offer to check due to the obvious misunderstanding. He also got a few things wrong with our order & gave excuses as to how "this is better or fancier". Our experience of him was rude & condescending as he was insistent that we need to know how he was charging us, "this will be extra, I'm charging you for that…". Also they were out of the kabobs which is not the servers fault but another unfortunate part of the experience as it is my mom's favorite dish. Overall this was very disappointing as we LOVE this restaurant considering the price we expect an award winning experience or at the very least a server who is kind & attentive.View more

Not a bad dinner out. We were Montreal & met friends who had also come in from out of town. The place is big & historic. Very comfortable inside although where we were seated had a slight chill. Our server was good. Appetizers were very good but steaks were pretty standard. Have had worse steaks elsewhere but have had better steaks out as well. Not bad but nothing really that stood out.View more

Amazing meat . The Wellington was really well made & the Steak a la Diane had an awesome sauce & texture. Salads were also very good, especially the blue cheese cream. Portions are very generous so go for appetizers only if you're really hungry. Will come agin for the rib steak.View more

We went in for a steak last night. The place is beautiful. Wonderful location, beautiful building. White table cloth, lights lit up everywhere. We ordered a bottle of the 2021 Berone Chianti. (66$) She brought over a 2022 bottle & said that's all they had but it was the same price. Should have been lower then not the same. Right off the bat they're jurying you & giving you something of less value to charge the same. I own three wineries as she went off on it being the same. Not off to a good start. We ordered two 15oz rib steaks. They came with a salad, pickles & bread prior. Pickles, salad & bread were really good. The steaks were flavourless & pretty fatty. She pushed buying one of the sauces. IMHO you don't sauce a steak. Coarse salt is what's needed, not table salt. Most of the dinner was trying to upsell us, bottled water, steak sauce, apps, desserts. All in all, the keg is where I would stick. Nice to try these overpriced places once in a while but not at all needed & it was mediocre. Enjoy!View more
