This steak house has Valet parking.
Easy to get a table without a reservation.
Warm & comfortable ambience. Just lovely. Something that is missing from most restaurants these days.
The service was good but not what it used to be twenty years ago.
The warm bread & butter are delicious. The bread is a fluffy white & on the sweet side. Watch these, as they can derail your appetite.
The pickles are good. Crunchy & flavorful.
Both the house & blue cheese salads were good. Very generous with the salad dressing. Nice touch of croutons, real bacon bits & fresh pepper.
As always the lemon sorbet, to clean the palette, was perfect!
We all loved our filet mignon & steak. The Montee Carlo baked potato is delicious. The asparagus & pepper are not worth belly space.
The Oysters Rockefeller were ok. For the price I would have preferred to try something else.
The French fries aren't bad.
Both the sauce Diane & the Peppercorn ROCK!
The crème brûlée was good. I appreciate the vanilla custard. It is not phenomenal but it is good.
The gentlemen at valet were great.
It is not an inexpensive restaurant. However, unlike many other restaurants, included in the price of your meal you get a salad & potato.View more
Visited Gibby's after over 20 years. The service was very friendly but painfully slow taking over 3 hours to be served. Although busy, the restaurant was not full.
The escargot were minute, the Gibby salad was excellent & our steaks were cooked to perfection. The price was outrageous. There are better & less expensive steak restaurants in Montreal. Caters mainly to the tourist clientele. Would not return.View more
Such a classic. They servers are so… feeling nostalgic at the level of service that's not found anywhere else. They make it feel like you're their only guests.
Ok so here's the thing. It looks like expensive prices (steaks for example) but there's a lot that comes with it. The appetizers, either a salad or a wedge. Try the wedge!!!! It's a meal on its own but soooooo good. Never seen lettuce this size. Also on the table, bacon, pickles & bread as soon as you get there.
Steaks were awesome as you'd expect, perfect cooking & lots of choices of sides.
2nd time we come here for a birthday, if you say it ahead of time, you'll actually get a birthday cake.
Also fun to watch them do their show with alcoholic coffees & pouring with the flame.
Of course the restaurant is gorgeous & so classy.
Go there! Must visit if you're in Montreal, everyone knows this place !View more
We have been to Montreal many times, but this was our first visit to Gibbys. I can easily say that this is now my favorite restaurant ever! The food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was perfect!
We ordered the grilled shrimp for the appetizer, & it was delicious. We loved the wedge salad with blue cheese & our steaks were perfectly cooked. All I can say is, come hungry because they feed you well.
My only regret is that I didn't come to Gibbys every time I had been to Montreal in the past!View more
The service & atmosphere are stellar. I went for my birthday & got a complementary cake.
The food: I've had the filet mignon & beef wellington. They were both amazing, cooked to perfection & seasoned wondefully. The only complaint I have is the borderlaise sauce for the beef wellington was too sage-heavy, but the steak, duxelle, & puff pastry were so good sauce was not necessary. The iceberg salad is one of the best salads I ever had, & you can get extra bacon to your liking. The mocktails are sweet & flavorful. The fries were okay, not much seasoning but cooked perfectly.
Our server Klaude was great & I hope to get him as our server next time I go.View more
My favourite of all times 💙
Once you booked your reservation , you shall look forward an unforgettable experience of Gibbys through their special & inspiring menu including , salads ,land & sea 🌊 , offering a vast selection of fresh seafood, carefully aged meats, & du saumon impeccablement bien soigné.
Gibbys is the must-visit destination 📍located in the heart of Old Montreal.View more
With the new ownership & menu Gibby's has lost its Lustre. The menu is not nearly as varied, the salad has slipped in quality & the service is not the same experienced crew that I loved. The dessert was actually stale. I would recommend RibnReef as the premier Steakhouse. I would only go back if you are looking for the old Montreal experienceView more
View more
My favorite Montreal Steakhouse! The ribeye boneless & filet mignon are awesome & so are their pickles & bread treats! Also get the wedge salad while you're at it :)View more
View more
😊View more
Very tasty & well presented food (we had the Gibby's salad & the cow-boy's steak for two). The espresso martinis were delicious, the service very attentive, professional & friendly & the vibe is very cozy.
The perfect place for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends or family!
I will definitely come back on my next visit in Montréal. Merci Gibby's!View more
Amazing meat . The Wellington was really well made & the Steak a la Diane had an awesome sauce & texture. Salads were also very good, especially the blue cheese cream. Portions are very generous so go for appetizers only if you're really hungry. Will come agin for the rib steak.View more
We went in for a steak last night. The place is beautiful. Wonderful location, beautiful building. White table cloth, lights lit up everywhere. We ordered a bottle of the 2021 Berone Chianti. (66$) She brought over a 2022 bottle & said that's all they had but it was the same price. Should have been lower then not the same. Right off the bat they're jurying you & giving you something of less value to charge the same. I own three wineries as she went off on it being the same. Not off to a good start. We ordered two 15oz rib steaks. They came with a salad, pickles & bread prior. Pickles, salad & bread were really good. The steaks were flavourless & pretty fatty. She pushed buying one of the sauces. IMHO you don't sauce a steak. Coarse salt is what's needed, not table salt. Most of the dinner was trying to upsell us, bottled water, steak sauce, apps, desserts. All in all, the keg is where I would stick. Nice to try these overpriced places once in a while but not at all needed & it was mediocre. Enjoy!View more
Go for the History, Not the Food or Service This was my first time at Gibby's, & after hearing so many good things, I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The evening started on a positive note. My friend & I were greeted by the hostess, & our jackets were taken promptly. This initial service was probably the best we experienced all night. Once seated, the waitress arrived, & things seemed to be moving quickly at first. We ordered a dozen oysters, a cowboy steak, a salad with blue cheese dressing, Monte-Carlo potatoes, & a Manhattan to drink. The Manhattan was fantastic-easily a 10/10. The oysters, which arrived after about 30 minutes, were good but not exceptional due to the accompanying sauces. From there, it was downhill. Service: 4/10 The service left much to be desired. For example, I had a bottle of Pellegrino with a quarter left, & the waitress attempted to take it away. When I stopped her, she poured the remaining water into our glasses without a word & walked off. Later, when we were served regular water, she filled my glass to the brim, making it difficult to lift without spilling. On the positive side, at least the alcohol arrived promptly. Salad: 1.5/10 I ordered the blue cheese dressing salad, & it was disappointing. While the lettuce was crisp, the dressing was terrible. I love salads-almost as much as steak-but this one was a letdown. Steak: 4/10 We ordered the 36 oz cowboy steak rare, & while it was cooked to the right temperature, it lacked flavor. Honestly, I've had better steaks at The Keg. For the price & reputation, I expected much more. While the size was generous & enough for two grown men, the taste was underwhelming. Digestif: 5/10 The lemon digestif was fine-nothing special, nothing terrible. Overall: If you're planning to visit Gibby's, understand that you're paying for the name & the historical ambiance, not the food or service. The total came to $400 with tip, which felt excessive for an experience that was mediocre at best. If you're looking for quality, head to Grinder instead-you'll save money & have a better meal. Verdict: Skip it.View more
Service is so slow with infrequent check ins. It took nearly two hours to get main course with only one app & a salad. No mashed potatoes or Mac n cheese as an option for sides. No Coke products. Rib eye was ok. It had some gristle. Filet was phenomenal.View more
I came here for my anniversary with my boyfriend & it was incredibly special. I got the filet mignon & he got the salmon both of which were perfectly cooked & amazing. Our phenomenal server Kas recommended I get the mushroom sauce with my filet & I would definitely recommend. The meal comes with homemade pickles & bread to start, a salad, & a lemon sorbet pallet cleanser. When it was time for dessert, we were brought a whole cake for our anniversary & our server Kas took a polaroid photo of us which we will cherish for a long time. The night was just perfect, as was the food, & when I come back to Montréal I will absolutely be stopping at Gibby's again.View more
I wasn't very hungry when i dropped in but lost my appetite when I saw the prices. I end up ordering a couple of drinks & a blue cheese salade, which was 1/4 of a lettuce with croutons, bacon & crappy sauce. If you're gonna charge so much for the menu at least upgrade your bathrooms & have all the stalls working. Cynthia my waitress was a 5 stars.View more
Brilliant place - price includes salad & amuse buche with any main course. Atmospheric & good serviceView more
Came here for my mothers birthday. The decor was gorgeous, perfectly reflecting the Nouvelle France history of the building. The house salad is hands down the best salad I've ever had. However, the mains were a bit of a let down. This might've been because of the dinner rush, but the bathrooms were completely trashed. There was toilet paper & hand towel all over the floors. I brought this to the attention of the wait staff & they were very professional & got it sorted out quickly. Overall, wasn't a bad meal whatsoever, but was it worth the steep price tag? For me, it's a no.View more
Food was 5/5. The bread & pickles to start were excellent. My husband said the clam chowder was the best he has ever had. I ordered 3 lobster tail dinner with Monte Carlo potato & asparagus. My husband had the filet mignon & a lobster tail with the same sides. The monte carlo potato is excellent. Unfortunately we did not know you could get croutons or bacon on your salad as our server never asked if we wanted any. Nor did he offer us a second cocktail or check to see how our meal was. The service was a 3/5 at best. That is generous. It was unfortunate as the other server working the room that night was excellent. What a difference a server can make to your overall experience. We told her we wished she would have served us when we asked her for the bill as our server seemed to disappear.View more
Steak & lamb were overcooked. Salad, apps, & sides were all very good.View more
**Gibby's: A Gastronomic Adventure for the Ages** My dear epicureans, let me regale you with an account of an evening that can only be described as a culinary odyssey. After a most disappointing rendezvous at Moishes two weeks prior, I ventured to Gibby's to restore my faith in the art of dining. Good God, man, what an experience it turned out to be! The evening began with a symphony of flavors-the Burrata, accompanied by the freshest peaches & tomatoes, was a delight to the senses. However, the bread was so hard, it could have doubled as a gargantuous monkey fist. But I digress. Next came the French onion soup, a masterpiece of rich broth & caramelized onions that danced upon the palate with perfection. Following this, the escargot, suggested with cheese by our knowledgeable server, was nothing short of phenomenal. Each bite transported me to the cobblestone streets of Paris. The wedge salad, adorned with blue cheese, was a crisp & refreshing prelude to the main course. & before we could delve into the heart of our meal, we were served a lemon sorbet-an exquisite palate cleanser, tart & invigorating. Ah, the pièce de résistance-the fillet mignon. Cooked to an impeccable medium-rare, it was a testament to the craftsmanship of Gibby's kitchen. The side orders, mushrooms that sang with umami & a Monte Carlo potato that was, unlike the oversalted catastrophe at Moishes, sheer perfection. In conclusion, Gibby's is a bastion of culinary excellence. Every dish, a story; every bite, a memory. For those seeking a dining experience that transcends the ordinary, look no further. As J. Peterman would say, this is not just a meal; it is an adventure for the soul.View more

A true 5 star steak house experience in Montreal! An absolute must! The experience starts off in a beautiful heritage building in Old Port of Montreal. You will find helpful staff & white tablecloth tables. We came here with a large party so we ordered almost everything on the menu to try. The cowboy steak is a true show stopper. Flavorful, well served & not chewy. Perfect to share. The mains come with a salad, a trou normand & side (Monte Carlo potato is a must) Beef wellington was so well done! Flaky on the outside, tender meat on the inside. The sauce that came with it was also excellent. For dessert, the chocolate Gibby's is excellent. Like a chocolate hazelnut mousse with a nice textured layer in there. Staff was attentive & knew the menu well. Highly recommend!View more
Gibby's is a fantastic dining spot! The rib eye & arctic char were perfectly cooked & delicious, while the Gibby's salad was amazing. The sorbet served as a palate cleanser after each course was a delightful touch. With its warm atmosphere & impeccable service, Gibby's offers an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for a special occasion!View more
Service was rushed right from the start. They were very busy so the minute we sat down they went over the menu with us before we were even able to order a drink. They also charge you a fee to split meals & have an issue with chopping a salad for you or cooking the steak more than med well. But mostly it was the rushed feeling we got from the minute we sat down. Our waiter was very nice just moving at a million miles a minute. It didn't feel relaxed & enjoyable like we had hoped.View more
We are visiting Montreal with friends & Gibby's was recommended by locals. The restaurant has so much charm & you can tell it is loved by all ages of guests. The service was wonderful, Diane, our server, was attentive, friendly & patient when we took our time ordering. We all ordered various steak entrees & felt they were prepared perfectly. It's not often you get an actual "rare" steak when you ask for it so I was thrilled. Gibby's is a proper steakhouse, they let the meats speak for themselves. However the black pepper mushroom sauce on the "Diane" was really good too! The blue cheese salad was phenomenal & loved the Monte Carlo potato. As we were all quite full from the pickles, bread & steak entrees we decided to split a sorbet dessert. It was enough for our party of 4 to have a few tastes & feel satisfied. Plus it came with a cookie & dinner mints.View more
