Delicious food & great service in between courses. We were never waiting for a long time.
They had a great way of adding a few little things to make the experience better. Pickles with the bread, a small lemon sorbet in between appetizers & the main course to clear the pallet, & mint chocolates at the end to have you leaving refreshed.
They didn't know the family / a la cart style we were looking for (different steaks cut for each man to try on their plate) but they learned 😏
Would recommend the Burrata, dipping the bread in the escargot flavoring, the sirloin, the lamb chops, &/or the beef Wellington as a must.View more

May be one of the best lunch experiences I've ever had. Gibby's dining room is located in a beautiful old building, the food was exquisite, service was top notch & the value for money ($50 for a three-course lunch) was excellent. First time tasting French Onion Soup & I can't imagine it ever being better than that. Will be making a point to visit every time I go to Montreal in future. Can't recommend Gibby's enough!View more

Beautiful old place with lots of character. Staff were very nice & the service was impressive most of the time but they sadly weren't on top of filling our waters even though we went later & the restaurant was pretty empty. The food was very good overall, best part was the steak, well season & grilled however I had to send back my steak due to it being overcooked, asked for medium rare & got it medium well, luckily they were quick to rectify this! Overall, the experience was very good! For the price & class of the place I did expect a bit more though, would go again & recommend!View more

Went to Gibbys Monday April 14 for my partners birthday, amazing service from the second we stepped in. Got sat at Vitaly's Table he gave us the most amazing experience we could've asked for. With the new ownership & menu Gibby's has lost its Lustre. The menu is not nearly as varied, the salad has slipped in quality & the service is not the same experienced crew that I loved. The dessert was actually stale. I would recommend RibnReef as the premier Steakhouse. I would only go back if you are looking for the old Montreal experienceView more

The food was exquisite. I had the 23$ Mac & Cheese to compare to the 2$ ones I make at home. Let me tell you, it was worth it. Service was nice. Atmosphere was a little annoying tho, sitting next to strangers isn't for everyone. Still had a great time. Highly recommend this place, just sit by the window if you don't like to interact with strangers.View more

Gibby is one of the best steakhouse in Montreal, they offer high-quality meat cuts, the Rockefeller oysters, & my best dish there is the garlic snail, & when you take the bread & dip it into the garlic sauce. I highly recommend this place.View more

My hubby & I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Gibbys. It was our first time & definitely not our last. The restaurant exuded a warm & intimate ambience, perfect for a date night. Our server Tammy was attentive, knowledgeable & friendly. All staff members were polite & welcoming. The food we had was delicious.. we had the lamb rack & filet mignon.. tender, & cooked to perfection. There was also valet service which is an added bonus. 100/10. Highly recommend.View more

The experience I had this evening at Gibbys was incredible. The atmosphere was very enjoyable, & the service was excellent. We had Genevieve as our waitress, who told us she had been working there for 35 years. She knew her stuff! She gave us her recommendations, & although I'm sure everything you could eat there was delicious, she made sure we had the best options. The food was perfect. Everything came out cooked well, & served hot. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience. Would absolutely recommend.View more

Came here on a Saturday night at 5:30pm for dinner & it was honestly mediocre, especially for the price you are paying. The portions are quite large for a fine dining restaurant which I can appreciate however, some of the food was under seasoned & the oysters still had some of the shell pieces left. As for the service it was decent. But some of the servers often mixed up orders with different tables. So overall I would not recommend this spot based on the price for the dining experience. 7/10.View more

I gave Gibby's 3 chances in the last 3 years & they've disappointed every time. This is a restaurant that relies very heavily on its history & "pedigree" & caters mostly to unsuspecting American tourists looking for a decent steakhouse in Old Montreal & Montreal natives who are clinging on to a relic from their past. The food in unquestionably not worth the price. The steaks are so chewy, that I'd recommend ordering them medium-well because they become more tender the longer they're cooked. The appetizers & sides are average;the Romanian style sausages were hard & tasteless, & I know because my wife is Romanian, & the side of rice they serve tastes as good as a greasy Greek dive. The service is friendly but slow & clumsy, despite the uniforms & overall "look" & for your money you're better off at any French restaurant nearby that will cook you a much better steak for less money...sorry Gibbys, I really tried my best!View more

I came here for my anniversary with my boyfriend & it was incredibly special. I got the filet mignon & he got the salmon both of which were perfectly cooked & amazing. Our phenomenal server Kas recommended I get the mushroom sauce with my filet & I would definitely recommend. The meal comes with homemade pickles & bread to start, a salad, & a lemon sorbet pallet cleanser. When it was time for dessert, we were brought a whole cake for our anniversary & our server Kas took a polaroid photo of us which we will cherish for a long time. The night was just perfect, as was the food, & when I come back to Montréal I will absolutely be stopping at Gibby's again.View more

I have to say without a doubt the best time I've had on a date night with my wife. Just flew in from Calgary. Seated right away. Michael, our server was the BEST!! Not only made us feel welcome, but like we were family. You're very fortunate to have him on your team!! A++ (The rest of the staff who we talked to were absolutely exceptional!) Food was spot on!! From the apps to the mains. Every box was checked for us! Compliments to the kitchen staff!! Knocked it out of the park!! Left very full & very happy!! A true 5 star steak house experience in Montreal! An absolute must! The experience starts off in a beautiful heritage building in Old Port of Montreal. You will find helpful staff & white tablecloth tables. We came here with a large party so we ordered almost everything on the menu to try. The cowboy steak is a true show stopper. Flavorful, well served & not chewy. Perfect to share. The mains come with a salad, a trou normand & side (Monte Carlo potato is a must) Beef wellington was so well done! Flaky on the outside, tender meat on the inside. The sauce that came with it was also excellent. For dessert, the chocolate Gibby's is excellent. Like a chocolate hazelnut mousse with a nice textured layer in there. Staff was attentive & knew the menu well. Highly recommend!View more
