The food was really good - everything was fresh, flavorful, & clearly made with care. On top of that, the service was amazing. Especially loved the roasted duck! The staff were friendly, attentive, & made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked in. It's definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for delicious Chinese food & great hospitality. Looking forward to coming back again!
Had an amazing experience at Fung Shing Chinese Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious & everything we ordered really hit the spot.
We started with the Tofu & Seafood Soup (large) which was comforting & full of flavour. The Deep Fried Wonton (large) & Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (large) were perfectly crispy & packed with filling. The Spring Rolls were a great starter as well.
For mains, the BBQ Pork & Half Roasted Duck were highlights - tender, juicy, & full of that classic roasted flavour. The Beef Fried Rice (large) & Beef Chow Mein (large) were both generous portions & very tasty. We also ordered Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, which was cooked perfectly & balanced out the meal nicely.
We were a group of 7 & the portions were great - everyone left full & completely satisfied. The food came out hot, fresh, & full of flavour. Definitely a great spot for family-style Chinese food. We'll absolutely be coming back! 😋🥢
Perfect place to ease my homesickness. They have authentic Chinese comfort food. Services are really good as well.
Fung Shing has been serving the community for 50 years, & I can't help but feel a little envious of Montrealers for having such a historic Chinese restaurant. The food is amazing & the service feels so friendly & welcoming. I saw many customers talking with the servers like old friends-clearly longtime regulars who have been coming here since they were kids.
It's more than just a restaurant; it's part of the city's dining culture. I was genuinely moved by the experience.
Great nostalic Chinese restaurant opened since the late 70's. Nothing fancy just good food at honest prices. Same decor as 50 years ago. Not a place for the fussy or faint at heart.
Finally found a proper reliable go to Chinese restaurant. Been here 5 times now & every time every dish has been delicious. The service & atmosphere has been great too. Never had to wait to be seated & food was served fast & hot too.
This cozy, family run Chinese restaurant offers mouthwatering dishes that are sure to satisfy. The generous portions mean even the hungriest diner can enjoy a fulfilling meal with just one main course.
Although we wish we had sampled more of their menu, the beef with broccoli showcased the challenge of perfectly balancing garlic & ginger flavors - a simple dish with sophisticated flavors. Food wasn't greasy either.
Best restaurant in Chinatown, amazing prices for what it's worth, & the General Tao is the best of all.
Staff super nice & friendly too, food came very quickly.
5/5 would come again & recommend to anyone who likes Chinese food
Large helpings of standard fare Chinese food. Friendly staff & great if you missed lunch & were starving.
Amazing service & such kind people! The food was absolutely delicious-every bite was full of flavor. We'll definitely be coming back, & I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic, high-quality Chinese food.
Food - 5/5 - My partner & I ordered an array of dishes & everything was served Fresh & hot. Good value for the large portions you get. Food was delicious & hot the spot.
Service - 5/5 - Was promptly seated during the end of dinner rush. We got our food quickly. They helped us pack up the left overs & even provided plastic bags to wrap the containers so they don't leave, plus a small reusable bag to carry out multiple containers. Tea was provided. My partner, being of Chinese decent, was welcomed & asked if he spoke mandarin & the employees (maybe owner or related to owner) spoke with him.
Atmosphere - 4/5 - It isn't the fanciest place nor does it have much for decor but it has the vibe of a good Chinese restaurant.
Overall - 5/5 - I thoroughly enjoyed their food & service. Conveniently located in the heart of Chinatown & close to bus stops. I recommend giving them a visit if you are in Montreal & craving a good Chinese meal. With an expansive menu there should be items for all to enjoy.
One of Montreals best Chinese restaurants. Owners are incredibly kind. BBQ pork rice is fantastic & the star of the show is the crispy salt & pepper pork. The pineapple chicken, calamari & Hunan dumplings are all great as well
Great place for real Chinese food. Portion is very generous. Will return for sure.
My wife & I were really in the mood for some good Chinese food & since we were already in downtown Montreal, we decided to walk over to Chinatown which has in my opinion the best Chinese restaurants in Montreal. We chose a real, "Old School" restaurant named Fung Shing on Boul. Saint-Laurent which has been around since 1976. The interior reminded me of when my parents took me to Chinese restaurants as a kid. Great memories! We selected from the menu, Hunan Dumplings, Lemon Chicken, Beef with Ginger & Pineapple & Stir Fried Vegetables, & let me tell you we experienced an explosion of flavours from each of these dishes. The portions were extremely large & we could not finish all of our food. The restaurant packaged it up for us to takeout so that we could bring it home & enjoy this absolutely delicious food once again.
Best chinese food I've ever had & I grew up in SF. In particular the wonton soup & the spring rolls are the best I've ever had. They hand make their own stock & wontons. The roast duck is also made in house which is such a rarity! Really a last standing homage to the dying art of traditional southern chinese cuisine from family recipes. Truly a gem!
After 7 years, this is still my favorite Chinese restaurant in Montreal. They always serve you green tea when you arrive. Everything tastes sooo good. Portions are for more than one person. 3/5 for atmosphere cause the bathroom was a little bit dirty this time. But the dining room is flawless.
